This is experience starts in the Basel families estate vineyard, Pheasant Run. Each lot is broken down by block to show off the unique growing conditions through out the 20 acre vineyard. Planted in the mid 90's this vineyard is now well established at 20+ years old. At 12 years of age this vineyard is where owner and winemaker Justin Basel first developed his passion and respect for the Walla Walla wine industry.
After talking about it for over 10 years this passion and respect come forefront with the opening of Solemn Cellars.

I absolutely loved the atmosphere at Solemn, there were sweet dogs running around and the owners were so friendly. Unfortunately I feel as though I was completely played. I was with a group who probably made at least $1k of orders on May 1st and they said due to bottling they would be shipped out in 2-3 weeks. We have continued to reach out and it takes multiple attempts to receive any response and it's a continuous theme of Covid/supply chain delays, glass shortage and it'll just be a few more weeks, etc. They really need to empty their voicemail box as it's been full since like

When visiting Walla Walla in April for our Anniversary we purchased 3 bottles of wine. They were not able to fill our order, but offered us the option to place a order and they would be able to ship to us in Idaho late May early June. To date December 11th we still have NOT received our order, mind you our charge card was charged for the full order when the order was placed. I have corresponded via E-mail at least 4 times, and have been given just as many excuses for the delay! To add salt to the wound, we were dining at a local restaurant and they had their wine on their menu. Needless to say

I to have been scammed by Justin. We visited in May and purchased almost 500.00 worth of wine. After multiple calls with no one answering the phone and message machine full. I sent multiple e mails. One was answered with a copy of the order and ready to ship! That was two weeks ago. Once again multiple calls and emails with no response. I reached… out to the Wine Alliance in Walla Walla and was told many folks have had the same problem. Justin is a fraud and continues to rip honest people off. I am considering filing criminal charges against him and would encourage others todo the same.

UPDATE: Months later, way past "Fall," and still no wine. Filed a dispute with my credit card. Not the only one, Facebook reviews are fill of people who have been strung along like me. Disappointing to say the least.
ORIGINAL POST:
Paid for wine in June that was supposed to ship shortly and like other reviewers, have not received it. I understand that the business is experiencing supply chain issues (one statement was that there were no bottles, another that they are holding back on shipping). However, they should at the minimum be sending wine club members and purchasers emails to keep them

I visited Solemn in May and purchased wine that I was told would ship “in a few weeks.” Like everyone else, I still haven’t received it. Almost a month ago the owner posted on Facebook that he was shipping out everyone’s wine. At this point I don’t really see any other option other than to file a complaint and dispute the charges with my credit card. It really is inexcusable to treat customers this way.

I also am one who bought a case of wine in mi-June. Still waiting. Was told it was taken to be shipped November 12; it’s been nearly a month and no word yet. Is the wine being properly stored at the shippers? I ordered a case of wine from another Walla Walla winery last month and received it within 5 days. While the wine produced by Solemn is amazing - this experience has been aggravating. I’m happy to give grace for these crazy times we're in, but am frustrated with the lack of communication and full voice mail box.

Like many others, we purchased several bottles in May and were told they would be shipped in the summer. They aren't answering their phone, replying to emails, or taking any accountability. Really sad - I went to their opening day as a winery several years ago and have bought several bottles over the years here. They will probably reply to this… with the same reply to others -- accusing the customer they are confused. Look, mistakes or supply chain problems happen, but if you don't know how to respond ethically when they do, you don't deserve to be in business.

This winery is definitely a hidden gem among the long list of wineries you can visit in Walla Walla. I believe the owner is a one man show and he runs the tasting room without any staff. Very impressed with the service and wine here.
It is a little loud inside because of the hard surfaces and limited sound absorbing furniture. They do have a back patio that is super cute and the view of the vineyards is amazing. I am really glad I came across this winery! Definitely worth trying! I wish I would have taken pictures but believe me it's beautiful!!!

I ordered wine on March 28, 2021 and have still not received it. I have tried calling numerous times and the voicemail is always full. Tried sending numerous emails with no response. If you have another wine available you can ship, that is fine but please let me know. I don’t understand how you can treat someone like this who visited your Winery, purchased wine to drink at the tasting room then purchased more wine for Home.

Solemn Cellars has scammed many customers out of their money. Look them up on Google Reviews. My husband and I along with another couple ordered wine, because they didn't have enough to sell. That was May of 2021, still No wine. They even blocked me from communicating with them on Messenger. So many people have paid them and their blanket response is there's a bottle shortage due to Covid...

Update: the futures we ordered have never been shipped my many many attempts to contact Justin and the winery either go to a full voicemail, emails go unanswered and FB Messenger posts go unanswered as well. One time they told me there was a glass shortage but since that time in July I've never heard a word. I paid up front and this is not the way to do business. Communication is key.

Like one of the other reviewers we paid for wine at the end of June and were told it would take 3 weeks. We never heard from them, never got the wine, their voice mail box is full and they did not respond to my e-mail. If they are actually still in business don't give them any money unless they give you the wine at the same time

Had a great time at the cellars but they were out of wine to take home with us so we ordered some for it to be delivered. We did this in June and still have yet to hear from the winery and see our wine. We have tried calling and emailing multiple times and have not received a response. Very frustrating since we had a large party for a bachelorette and specifically went there from a recommendation. They made out with probably over $1000 and we never received any wine.

This place is a con artist. A group of us went to Solemn Cellars during Memorial Day weekend. We purchased wine however we were unable to take the wine with us and we were told that the wine would be shipped out later in the week due to labeling. It is now 09/14/2021 and we still do not have our wine. We have made several attempts to reach out to Solemn Cellars with no success. I was able to communicate with someone via fb messenger. I was told that the wine will be shipped out with the next two weeks. Now well over a month and two weeks later still nothing. I have provided my order number and

My wife and I have been visiting Walla Walla annually for 7 years. We visited Solemn today for the first time. The wine is fantastic. We really appreciate getting tastings from the family that makes the wine. The tasting room is beautiful and they have a huge outdoor area, that surrounded by the vineyard. No reservations necessary because they can accommodate so many people. I'd put Solemn up with the top winemakers in Walla Walla.

We stopped here on a whim, and are so so happy we did. From the lovely dog greeting us at the front door to having Brianne serving us the most delicious red wines and sharing wine profiles and Walla Walla information with us, it couldn't have been a better winery. They have delicious solid, well defined wines. The difference between the low valley and high valley Cabernet was fun to discover, and the Syrah was delicious. Did I mention the puppy too? Can't wait to stop by next year.

Wow! These guys are killing it! Beautiful vineyard! Delicious red wines! Amazing people working there. One of the best experiences wine tasting in Walla Walla. Steven, the GM and assistant wine maker really pulled out the stops to tell us all about the wine and Washington's wines in general. He and Justin, the winemaker, really put their heart and sole into their wine. Hence the heart symbol.

Fantastic find! We are from Sonoma county in California where the wineries are plentiful and wanted to try some wines from Walla Walla. We stopped in at Solemn Cellars and the owner, Justin, came into the tasting room, poured our tastes and told us all about his winery and the wines. We really enjoyed chatting with him and the gal working in the tasting room. The tasting room is very nice too. Very simple but beautifully done. Beautiful and amazing wines! We bought a couple bottles of Cab and Syrah to take back home and enjoy. We'll be back on our next trip
