Services
Kentucky Eye Care was founded in 1899 by Dr. Adolph O. Pfingst. We were the first, and therefore are the longest operating, ophthalmology practice in the state of Kentucky. But don't be led to believe that means we're dusty! Our doctors are the most distinguished eye care professionals in the region and our practice utilizes some of the most current eye care technology available.
At Kentucky Eye Care, our board-certified doctors offer state-of-the-art services ranging from basic eye exams and laser vision correction to complex surgical procedures and the medical management of degenerative eye diseases. Thanks to advances in technology, we're able to treat eye problems and perform sophisticated eye surgery easier than ever before.
Macular Degeneration or Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is damage to the portion of the retina responsible for central vision. There are two forms of the disease, wet and dry. Wet Macular Degeneration is characterized by an abnormal growth of blood vessels beneath the retina that leaks blood and fluid, causing severe and sudden vision loss.
Eye care begins with a routine eye examination, regardless of your age or physical health. Because diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, arthritis, elevated cholesterol, thyroid disease, and even certain medications can impact your vision and the health of your eyes, it's important to have an examination on a regular basis.
We have an extensive selection of contact lenses, whether it's a common brand name you've worn for years or the industry's most recent proven innovations. We also offer safe, easy and convenient ordering of your contact lenses through our web store. If you've never ordered your contacts with us online before and need help setting up your account, please email [email protected] or give us a call at 502-893-7799.

I saw Julie Hogan on 1/21/22 - she explained all to me & took her time.
I would highly recommend her to friends & family. Got my frames & lenses there as well & the you woman helped me pick frames for my face & took her time with me as well. Will be back next time for sure. Sandi Bishop

It was the middle of December and my other half suddenly discovered we had unused medical spending money. An overdue appt for me with the eye doctor was the perfect expense. I called and they were able to see me the following week, 12/21. (ONE STAR FOR SPEADY APPT.)

The staff was busy, possibly overworked but quite cordial. (TWO STARS FOR CUSTOMER CARE.)

The appointment went well other than I was only seeing 20/40 with my current prescription glasses. Then again I can't see the broad side of a barn without them, let alone the t.v., a good book, or a restaurant menu. The opthamologist handled
