Psychotherapy increases our awareness of habits of thinking and reacting that produce self created stress such as anxiety, unhappiness, depressed mood and irritability/anger. Emotional distress is most often caused by how we are perceiving and reacting to external situations.

We saw Dr Robert Foster to help my husband with anxiety and depression. It was such a big disappointment and the very reason we fear seeing doctors and steer clear of them. It only increased our distrust in psychologists. I have absolutely nothing positive to say about Dr Foster. Only thing Dr Foster seemed interested in was, getting as many sessions out of us as possible, which is $$. We gave him plenty benefit of doubt, session after session. He continued being dismissive and uncaring, sometimes ending sessions 20 min earlier, but charging for one full hour. There was nothing novel in his podcasts

I have been with Dr Robert for a while, I feel like I'm so blessed that I have a chance to see Dr Robert! He's so professional! After seeing him, finally I can see some hope in my life. I've had bad anxiety in my school life, bad anxiety costs me has lots of fear in my life. I have struggled really hard with a lot of my fear. Always dreaming one day I can relive from that. He's still helping me work on that, hopefully I will relief in one day!

Seriously, this guy is the best. I'm 30 now and started meeting with him at 28. He makes me feel like im having a conversation with a peer. I've seen several therapists but he's the first who actually fulfills the role for someone like me. HIGHLY recommend Dr. Foster both on Yelp and in person whenever I hear about someone who'd benefit from his relaxed and understanding approach.

Having struggled with anxiety for most of my life, and having tried everything to combat it, I can tell you not all therapists are created equal. I've sat in chairs and purged my past, taken the pills, acupuncture, hypnosis... you name it. I didn't know exactly what I was looking for, but I knew what I was doing wasn't working. I am so grateful to have found Dr. Foster. After being hit by a car while crossing the street near my house, I was not only physically injured but also emotionally traumatized. Dr. Foster introduced me to EMDR and EFT techniques which pretty much immediately alleviated many of the symptoms I experienced and got me back to feeling like myself again. I was thrilled to find a natural, drug-free, effective and fast way to overcome the emotional impact from the accident. I cannot thank him enough for his help and give him my highest recommendation.

My anxiety is gone.

I've dealt with anxiety for the better part of my twenties and after moving across the country I was experiencing it the strongest I had in my life. I've never seen a psychologist in the past so I went into Dr. Foster completely new to the process. I've had xanax prescribed to me from my general physician that got me through my other episodes in the past but I hated relying on a drug to bring me to normal. Dr. Foster helped me through some major anxiety and gave me tools to deal with it. He's a very mellow guy and always answered my questions to my satisfaction. I saw him for less than a year, but got what I needed. Would go back.

From the moment I met Dr. Foster I felt a sense of calm. He was very compassionate and understanding and helped me through some very difficult personal situations.

Dr. Foster is unlike any other therapist I have met since he not only focuses on your experiences but also promotes self-awareness and practices to help quell anxious thoughts.

These practices have helped me immensely and I consider them invaluable tools which I can use in everyday life.

I cannot recommend Dr. Foster highly enough!

I don't see therapists very often, but was transitioning out of a relationship, and had some anxiety around it. Dr. Foster (i call him Doc), was amazing. He helped me get everything in perspective in a few sessions, and move on cleanly, to open myself to being alone, and open to new people in my life over just a few sessions. It was an amazing experience, and i cannot recommend anyone more highly. Thanks, Doc!

I have seen Dr Foster once and the therapy session was ok. We had an email conversation before where I pointed out that money is an issue for me. He stated that he is very flexible and gave me a range of what he charges. I told him that my insurance will not cover any of the service. I had confirmed this with the insurance company several times. He said he will still try to bill the company.
He ended up charging me at the high end of his pay range. As I mentioned before, insurance did not pay anything of it.
I have tried to talk about this with him, but he is not cooperative in that matter at

I have seen Dr. Foster off and on over the course of two years and I must say he has helped me tremendously in dealing with my general anxiety. I initially started seeing him because I was open to learning more about mindfulness and finding out if it could be a good strategy for me. I had good results before with talking through things and watching the diet/exercise/sleep, but wanted to learn another tool if possible.

I will now say that mindfulness without a doubt plays a central role in my ability to keep my anxiety at a manageable level. I really enjoy the fact that Dr. Foster can combine

I saw Dr. Foster for about a year to help cope with anxiety. He is an excellent therapist. Great listener, empathetic, smart and wise. His blend of psychology and mindfulness proved very effective for me. He helped me develop a practice of mindfulness/meditation that I believe will help me throughout my life. I've been seeing Dr. Foster for a few weeks now. I originally started seeing him to learn more about mindfulness, with the hope of helping me with my general anxiety. I have various fears, including a fear of flying. Dr. Foster has helped me to completely change my view on anxiety, pain, and fear. Last week, for the first time in a long time, I was able to fly cross-country without much fear or worry, all because of the impact mindfulness has on my view of pain, pleasure, and happiness. And Dr. Foster has been my teacher.

Dr. Robert Foster has been my psychologist for over 6 years and I consider myself incredibly lucky to have found him. I've had both bad and good therapists in the years prior to finding Dr. Foster and he literally defines what it is to be a great therapist. He will sometimes have to endure almost a full hour of my own monologue about what I'm going through and yet he never 'tunes out'. How do I know that? Without fail he ends up having astute invaluable advice (that I've learned to use and have pay off) during every single session.

Where do I start about Dr. Foster? Talking to him and learning the skills of mindful awareness has made my life overall happier and more fulfilling. As one of many people who has been challenged by anxiety (and who at times felt as though there is simply no solution) I can say with great confidence that Dr. Foster will show you that you already have all of the tools necessary to eliminate the anxiety from your life, and even use it to your advantage. Robert is an amazing therapist, and has contributed greatly to my life, to say the least. I can't say enough good things about him. He is warm, attentive, understanding, a great listener, and a true healer. Robert's approach to mindfulness and living in the present moment has shown me how to calm myself and my busy mind, as well as to live in conscious awareness, achieving peace of mind. And he has the ability to describe and identify over-arching thoughts and behavior patterns that help make sense of things that can seem so confusing to oneself. He is a guide, and a coach.

There's not much to say beyond since I began treatment under the care of Dr. Foster my life has improved dramatically. I'm happier, more successful, healthier and I'm living in the moment and venturing out of my comfort zones trying new things- basically my life is fuller and infused with meaning. Granted this is only after ONE session with Dr. Foster, but despite that fact I felt very at ease with him

It's not that I'm about to be committed into the loony bin or anything, well not now; but i've been going through some issues which led me to him after a yelper recommended him.

Dr. Foster has a very calm demeanor with a warm personality. I felt comfortable with him and with telling him what I was there for, as well as telling him things I would feel odd telling other people. I like his methodology for pinpointing the core of my demons and his plan for a better and saner

Hmmmm - how to write a review about your therapist without divulging what you talk about with your therapist?

I suppose I can start by saying that I've recommended Dr. Foster to a number of friends & acquaintances, two of whom have now become regular patients of his. Yep, I think he's so great, I tell people that I'm in therapy so I can then recommend him.

His office is small & cozy, in a homey sort of way. Office hours are flexible (as early as 9 a.m., as late as 6 p.m., there's no "blackout" period at lunch) and appointments
