The Gluten Free Baking
Along a quiet Paris side street, I stepped into a pastry shop advertising gluten free baked goods. The case was full of amazingly beautiful French pastries (and probably not gluten free.) I sighed as I eyed the case looking for the allergy-friendly section. Nothing was labeled. I thought I would burst into tears!

I was so used to being told, "we have ice cream that is gluten free" or "This salad is gluten free." Life with food allergies can be so isolating, but not anymore. Here at The Gluten Free Baking Company, we know how complicated each day is when you simply cannot eat certain foods. We strive to make amazing baked goods that taste so good you want to share them with your family and friends.
Services
We are proud to house a community of gluten free businesses in our 2,400 sq ft fully furnished gluten free production kitchen. Rent would include use of convection ovens, stove, small, medium and full size mixers, fridge, and storage space. Speed racks, freezer and baking pans can also be negotiated.
I know it's short notice, but can I get a custom order today? How about tomorrow? All good things take time. All cake orders require a minimum of 5-7 day's notice. During peak celebration times (holiday, graduation, wedding season, etc) we recommend ordering at least 3-4 weeks in advance. We do carry 6 Grab-and-go cakes at our North Park location, along with an assortment of treats if you require something same-day.

I was given cupcakes for my birthday and I was excited to try something different. So, today was the day. I decided to try the funfetti cake. The buttercream frosting was delicious! Same as the frosting on the cucpakes. The cake itself, absolutely awful. Drywall texture and though I haven't tasted drywall, I'd bet it's the similar. Dense, tasteless, hard mass of gluten free glue. I'm most upset that I spent nearly $10 on one piece!! $10!!! Also, there is no parking. So, in addition to being all the way in North Park, there is no parking and a $10 piece of drywall

Yo, Idk the name of the woman working Saturday 1/21/2022, but she is KILLING this one woman show. I’ve seen her go on break and get interrupted twice to accommodate customers with a smile. She is dope.

The most amazing GF treats I have ever had. I would never guess these amazing cookies, cupcakes, and donuts are gluten free. My entire family enjoys the bakery. Every birthday or Christmas I just ask for a box of deliciousness from this bakery. Absolutely the best!!!

Made a special trip just to try this place out. Great selection of cookies. Doughnuts, cheesecake, cookies, cakes and cupcakes. Pretty good. Lucky to have this opportunity to buy gluten free items. Rare find!

Being able to eat everything without a worry of having a reaction is priceless. The donuts were cake like and had an intense flavor: raspberry and matcha. Another plus is that they're located in a very walkable neighborhood so we can burn off the calories while enjoying a sweet gluten free treat.

Great selection of tasty bakery items! Buy with confidence that I won't get anyone sick, including myself! The cheesecake was delicious and the EggNog bars are a must have! I made a fruit charcuterie board with treats from here instead of cheese. Beautiful and a great option for breakfast

Update: This week we decided to try the brioche loaf, just as good but lighter than the multi-grain loaf we tried before. So good! Toasts very well, another excellent sandwich.
Bonus: While there I got a bag of their GF flour and made the best GF waffles Sunday morning. The superfine texture makes them light and fluffy.
Found out about this place recently and have to say they have my favorite GF sandwich bread loaves ever!!! Happy to become a regular :-)

This is the best gluten free bakery I have ever visited. I travel frequently and I make visiting gluten-free bakeries all over the country an essential part of my vacations. I lived in NYC and San Francisco have tried many of the so-called “best” gluten free bakeries. (Erin McKenna, I’m looking at you.) None of them are as good as this one. The other awesome thing is that the pastries are reasonably priced. They cost the same as non-gf pastries would at a normal bakery.
I recommend the maple donuts, the lemon bars, any of the cookies, and my favorite of all…the cinnamon roll.

Nothing except for the appearance, resembled the gluten free donuts I was so excited to try. :/ I should’ve known better when they said the “yes gluten free & vegan.” I just wanted gluten free. Which in my experience has been passable…but when you start eliminating more essential ingredients from a baked good, you might as well not bother. Disappointing for the price as they ended up in trash. Nice customer service, just not what I was looking for.

The food was alright, but the coordination was not. We had called on Saturday evening to see if they had any Boston Cream doughnuts left, and the receptionist at the phone said they had plenty. We got there about 15 minutes later and the man at the shop said that they had no Cream filled dougnuts for the past few hours.

We asked him when they will have their next shipment of the doughnuts, and he said Monday, and to come right when they open (1pm).
So we did. We came at 1:15, and when we went in, the lady at the counter told us that the cream filled doughnuts won't be here for another 3

Ordered a pecan pie for thanksgiving and they closed the bakery an hour earlier than they said/advertised. Now I'm on my way to dinner without a pie. I have no idea if its even good because they took my money and left me empty handed. I'm pissed. I want my money back.

I wish I could post a picture of but I ate it too quickly. Being gluten free I have never found a bagel that I felt excited about but damn their bagels really got me hyped. You better get em before I buy them all!

So happy I found this place on Yelp! The store is so adorable, and offers quite a variety of breads and desserts even though it's a fairly small shop! But some of the offerings are not baked fresh -- they seem to be refrigerated and thawed, which was a little disappointing -- so might be worth asking about that before you take a baked good home!

I decided to come here specifically on the lookout for a good gluten free bagel, and the ones here are great texturally! As any GF eater knows, it's hard to quite emulate that distinct bagel taste without barley malt, but this shop's NY

I ordered my wedding display cake from The GF Baking Co & I was very pleased with my order! I'm GF & I liked the idea of giving my guests who are also GF a chance to eat a slice of wedding cake. Roanna was great to work with and the cake looked beautiful and was ready for pick up when we needed it. Thank you Roanna/GF Baking Co!!

Excellent assortment of well crafted baked goods. They have all your traditional baked goods: muffins and cupcakes, brownies and cookies, bread loaves, cake slices, dessert bars, doughnuts 🍩 and donuts, in addition to other treats like éclairs and bagels and all GLUTEN-FREE! They put all the love and care into these that gluten-free baked goods require for the best quality anywhere in California let alone the entire country. Always an absolute stop when you are near San Diego, California.

Very friendly and fun GF bakery! Parking was insane to that whole area so have fun with that. Disappointed when we asked about peanuts “Nothing is made with peanuts but there are peanuts in the facility.” When asked for clarification, he then said “Well, these bars have nuts but that’s it.” But there were also peanut butter cookies too. So if you have a nut allergy you might want to watch out for that. Food was fun and delicious otherwise!

Can't eat the food here, it's frozen. I went in to grab a bagel. They have nicely displayed food in the front, but serve you a frozen bagel they get from the back room. No toaster, no microwave. Don't go there and plan on actually eating anything.

I am very disappointed in this bakery as the family member I bought pastries for who has a wheat allergy got VERY sick after eating the donut. I had him throw all pastries I bought in the trash and am very angered by the faith I put in purchasing these pastries based on the owner telling me that her son has a wheat allergy and everything is wheat free in her facility which is obviously NOT true, They need to look deeper into each ingredient that goes into their products and look for cross contamination as there was WHEAT in their products which made my relative very SICK! I will be reporting

This place used to only sell online under a different name, and everything was always wonderful. They opened this bakery a year or two ago, and every time I have gone, all of the baked goods are given to me cold. It's all premade and pulled from the freezer, and nothing is given to you fresh. I've had this experience every single time I have been. It was embarrassing bringing a box full of goodies straight from the bakery to a friend for a celebration, and biting into cold frozen cookies.

I've shown up for promotional events on the weekends, such as special St. Patrick's Day

I had a family member visit, and it was his birthday... he has some very tough dietary restrictions, (gluten free, vegan and no chocolate) and I found other baking places that could accommodate but they were all closed and had strange hours, so Thank you to The Gluten Free Baking Co for being open during the week for a last minute need!
I have no dietary restrictions and so it’s always nice to try things I’m not used to having. I hear baking gluten and vegan is pretty difficult.. so I wanted to share this in a few sections:
Presentation:I thought they presented quite well... nicely decorated

Hands down the best gluten free bakery in San Diego.

I recently had to adopt a gluten free diet due to health reasons and I had no idea how much I loved foods that contain gluten. So I was on the hunt one day for a GF business and stumbled upon this bakery.

The texture of their products are spot on and the flavors are incredible. The only thing I wish was that the serving sizes for some items were larger, for example the cinnamon rolls are SO GOOD but so tiny.

Now if they could just come out with a way to do a gluten free croissant, my newly found gluten free lifestyle would be so much easier

All of the flavors were tasty, I could not pick my favorite. This is a lovely gluten-free bakery and worth the extra money. Gluten-free is always more expensive but this business gives you a great deal.

JD was so great! My partner and I visited this shop because i had a sweet tooth, however my partner is vegan and gluten free (and nut free), so I wanted to be accommodating.
This place was a short drive from our BNB, we went in and were greeted by JD. I am particular about my baked goods, and JD entertained my quips about texture and what I expect from brownies.
I am happy this place exists, as my partner was able to indulge in ways she usually is not able to.

WANT GF DONUTS?

I learned about the Gluten Free Baking Co because I run the San Diego Celiacs Facebook Group. They asked to join and started posting some pretty funny advertisements so I had to check them out.

First off, they are a small establishment so don't be surprised if you see a line. With this whole COVID thing they are accepting one person at a time into the business.

Second, you MUST try the Boston Cream Pie! They are a bit pricy, but what isn't pricy that's gluten free in a custom donut?

Last, they have some great specials they post weekly. I like that they have

I walked in the week before the stay at home order, and their staff was already set up with a sanitary process. One staff member with gloves placed my cupcake from under a glass encasing into a to go box. Then I moved two feet to my left and another staff member rang me up, also with gloves on. After, the transaction was completed, the first staffer handed me my to go box. Perfect! I was beyond impressed.

I had always heard that gluten free baked goods were dense, but I didn't have much experience. This cupcake, though, was a lovely texture. Moist and medium in density. It could have passed

After getting some take-out food from a nearby eatery a few days ago, I stopped at this bakery. They are located next door to The Friendly in North Park where The Cake Pop Shop used to reside. A sign was posted outside the front door describing how their business was adhering to social distancing conditions. I was their lone customer so the only interaction was between me and the worker.

Two glass cabinets displayed the baked goods on sale for that day. The Strawberry Lemon Roulade ($3.75) was a special item so that was one of my picks. It was akin to a rolled cake that you can find at a supermarket
