BEWARE!! I have had the same Medical/Dental Insurance for the past 20 yrs. I am entitled to 2 free Cleanings a year. I have never been asked for a co-pay until I went to UNION SQUARE DENTAL. They insisted I make a co-payment. I called my insurance & sure enough my insurance once again told me there is no co-payment due for two cleanings a year. I have 3 types of insurance: Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Blue Cross/Blue Shield Dental and Medicare!!! I will NEVER GO BACK! The last time I was there My FREE Cleaning cost me $700 Because they convinced me I needed Laser for my teeth. This office

BEWARE OF UPSELLING!!! A simple insurance covered cleaning could end up costing $$$ in extra out of pocket unnecessary services.
Their services are good and I had been going to them for years but recently they got a hygienist who is an aggressive upseller. Really annoying. Thankfully my best friend is an hygienist an gave me a 2nd opinion so I didn't buy extra services that I didn't need. But my husband went for a cleaning and was scared into buying antibiotic shots (4x $75) or risk a heart attack!
If you go, just be prepared to say "no thanks" a lot.

Union Square Dental is a very professional, largely female, establishment. Starting with the two receptionists. They are smart, friendly, helpful and respectful. The dentists are warm, empathetic and very competent. I find my dentist, Dr. Katanova, to be completely trustworthy. The hygienists are also very competent as their cleanings are very thorough. I've been very happy with the results of my dental procedures at Union Square.

Dr. Kanatova is amazing. She’s quick with her work but also SUPER attentive. I have not had any issues with her work.
I’ve been to this office 5+ times and I’ve never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen.
The dental assistants and admin up front are all so sweet and helpful, especially Michelle. Hands down would recommend this place.

Before covid, I went to a dentist all the way uptown, but decided I need to go somewhere closer to my home and work now that I'm ready to go back for a check-up and cleaning. Union Square Dental fit that bill.
The hygienist, Yuliya/Julia (sorry, not sure of the spelling) did x-rays and a cleaning. That part of the visit took less than 25 minutes - for a conversation about my health, the x-rays and cleaning! And the cleaning was ROUGH. I felt like I was being manhandled. Seriously, I've never experienced anything like it. The cleaning only took about 10 minutes (maybe they get commission

Union Square Dental is possibly the worst healthcare facility I have come across during my 6 years of living in NYC. The dentists and hygienists are friendly and skilled, but the place runs like a money-hungry business, not a doctor's office, with obvious insurance fraud tactics. They will try to squeeze you out of every dollar, and they won't play fair. I had many major issues with them, and I always decided to look the other way and assume that it was due to a lack of training or proper understanding of how insurance, claims, and copays work, but after facing similar issues multiple

Being a person who is diligent about health maintenance, I cannot say enough about Yelena, one of the Registered Dental Hygienists at Union Square Dental. Yelena is top notch - professional, ethical, honest, kind and smart. For years, I have been requesting Yelena for my 6 month visits. I do so because I trust her work, and professional advice. I highly recommend, to anyone who is looking for a new dental office, to seek out Yelena at Union Square Dental!

Nice office and convenient location. Unfortunately , I suggest avoiding them for a few reasons: Rough cleanings and X-rays- painful and cut the gums- not pleasant but not the worst thing in the world either.
What concerned me more was the rushed appointments in general- I understand that many businesses are suffering due to the pandemic fallout. However, it still feels wrong to try to squeeze in as many patients as possible in a workday. Perhaps because of this rushed atmosphere, I never felt like the dentist was taking my concerns seriously or giving me clear answers. On the other hand, she was

DO NOT COME HERE FOR A CLEANING. THE DENTAL HYGIENIST IS RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL.
I came in for a dental cleaning wearing a mask to protect myself because I had to take mass transit to get here. I had no less than 5 different staff members ask me why I was wearing a mask. I understand the reception asking me (can't be too safe) but did every staff member in the dental office have to ask me? I also heard them whispering about me so why wasn't the info about me not being sick relayed?
This one star rating is mostly for the Russian/Ukrainian dental hygienist who cleaned my teeth. I came

Hands down the best dentist in the city. Have been coming here for about 10 years. They're always on time (which is a rarity in NYC), very friendly to deal with, and extremely thorough. Not pushing you out the door like a lot of doctors offices and dentists in the city.
Can't recommend this place more.

Dr. Kateryna Grytsenko is a miracle worker! She has such a gentle touch that I didn't even feel a pinch when I got my cavity filled. I had been dreading the moment for so long, that I walked into her office extremely tense and she immediately addressed my concerns and went thru the procedure with 0 pain.
In regards to logistics, I find the office to be very responsive and flexible when it comes to scheduling appointments, changing appts, and receiving updates.

Really bad experience. Made me wait 20 minutes, even though I showed up early. Started with X rays, I warned them I gag easy - so instead of changing the mouthpiece because it was too big, they gave me the numbing spray and then gave me a smaller mouth piece?
Also, when I scheduled online, I clearly stated I wanted the dentist that everyone is raving about- but instead got Miriam? Who really prodded at my gums and I too was bled a lot then said it was because I didn't floss properly. Very sloppy cleaning too- lasted so short because they were taking X Rays and making me wait for more than

I saw Dr. Kateryna Grytsenko and she was wonderful. Great bedside manner and very knowledgeable. She explained why I was getting tooth sensitivity and recommended a root canal. This office has a root canal specialist, Dr. Ehsan Farrokhmanesh who comes in every Thursday. I was very nervous for the procedure but he assured me that it was going to be okay and not to worry. He was very gentle and explained what the procedure entailed. The root canal took about an hour and to my surprise, was completely painless. Everything went very smoothly. I highly recommend both of these doctors.

I am so lucky to have found Yelena Voskina as my hygienist. I can't imagine anyone more amazing at what she does, and she is a fabulous person on top of being a brilliant dental hygienist.

Dr. Grytsenko is the best dentist!
She is very patient, very calming, and very efficient in her work. I've been a patient of hers for a couple years and could not be more pleased with the work I've had done there.
The entire office staff is so professional, both on the phone and in-person.
I recommend Dr. Grytsenko unequivocally and without hesitation.

My tooth literally broke in 1/2!
Couldn't get my regular dentist so I switched over to union square dental. They saw me the next day and had me fixed up in no time. Very patient with me and my root canal was pretty much painless (during and after)!
Very pleasant and accommodating staff. Always smiling.
Took off one star because I just wish they would explain a little more about what they were going to do before they did/I had to ask.
Will for sure be keeping them as my go to dentist!
I'd post pics, but not sure anyone wants to see a broken tooth! Haha
