St. Honore Boulangerie
Step inside our cozy, rustic boulangerie and you instantly feel a connection with the old-world charms of France. The ambiance evokes images of the French countryside, and the smell of freshly baked bread fills every nook of this neighborhood bakery. The Pacific Northwest has so much bounty here and we are committed to using sustainable ingredients in all our pastries and breads.

I've come far from Normandy, but I am still living up to my family's high standards - at least, when it comes to baking.
Services
Step inside our cozy, rustic boulangerie and you instantly feel a connection with the old-world charms of France. From rows of wicker baskets holding our freshly baked bread to the glass-encased display of sugary pastries, St. Honor Bakery's ambience and design are pure French mixed with a Northwest vibe.
In the small coastal town of Etretat in Normandy, Master Baker Dominique Geulin was first exposed to the fine art of pastry making at a young age while working in his parents bakery. Our delectable pastry offerings are the combination of these family recipes, as well as the collective contributions from our creative baking team.
Master Baker, Dominique Geulin and our baking team - many of them students at Portland's Western Culinary Institute - take pride in the fine art of pastry design. The colorful display of desserts made fresh every day, selecting only the highest ingredients, replicates the French heritage of an art that engages both creativity and meticulous precision.
The basis of our baking techniques is in the respect of the French tradition that has been passed on for generations. We prefer the method that champions a delicate balance of short mixing and slow fermentation alternated with a gentle manual touch to provide the perfect finish of a premier loaf of bread.
In France, "manger au comptoir" refers to eating a light bite at the counter in a convivial and casual fashion. St Honor Bakery offers a selection of fresh salads, quiches, and savory entres made in our kitchen every day. Tomato, zucchini, roasted garlic, parmesan cheese and crme fraiche layered on a sheet of puff pastry.

Very nicely decorated bakery. They had a wide variety of pastries available. I'm always fond of their chouquettes, and canele. The bread is serviceable but nothing special. There are better loaves to be had at numerous other Portland bakeries. It was pretty busy on my last visit, but the line moved quickly and the staff were pleasant.

This place was amazing. I went on a first date that wasn't going very well. We had just eaten at this gross food truck and I was freezing cold. I suggested we try it because I just wanted to sit down. I ordered a few Pastries to take home and a hot chocolate there. Everything was delicious and the staff was nice and the table was clean. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!!!

Not sure how this place has a 4.6 rating. Unfriendly, unwelcoming staff which is crazy because it was so dead so it’s not like they have the excuse of being overwhelmed and exhausted. More importantly, the food was garbage. I bought three items and tossed all after a couple bites - the opera cake was meh at best, the entire bottom half of the almond croissant was soggy (like how???), and the mushroom pastry thing was also soggy at the bottom even though they toasted it for me. Honestly, none of them were worth the calories and nothing about this place’s goods even remotely compare to a traditional

I was staying at the nearby Holiday Inn Express when I saw a beautiful wall mural of a winery, an Italian restaurant, and a bakery identified as St. Honoré Boulangerie. It didn't take me long to learn it's a block away. Of course, I went there right away. I'm so glad I did.

It was early-ish in the morning, maybe 9am. The bakery was very well stocked - pastries, sandwiches, and loaves of bread. My eyes wandered and landed squarely on the pastries. Hehehe. A must try is the St. Honoré - a puff pastry and éclair dough ring, filled with pastry cream (similar to éclair custard cream

Breakfast or lunch. Fresh bread and a variety of sweets. Baked in a wood fired oven. Coffee and espresso too!

The Canale is my Fav sweet here! Crispy brown outside and very chewy on the inside! I walked a mile for just one! Yum!

Came back the next morning and had to try the Chouquettes which were delightfully airy and sweet. I had a mushroom croustade which I wish I could eat every day. Savory and such a rich flavor. I brought home pain au chocolat, pain au raisins, and of course maple bacon croissants for the rest of the family. Everyone enjoyed it all. Will definitely be making St. Honore Boulangerie a part of our trips to Portland.

We took a day trip to Portland and St. Honore was our first stop. Easy street parking right outside followed by a line to order - took about 30 minutes on a Saturday morning. Service did not seem particularly efficient, but we didn't mind the wait. When we did order, we grabbed the double almond croissant, coffee éclair and a slice of the quiche of the day (mushroom), which was served with a side salad. We also grabbed macchiatos. Everything was ready fairly quickly and we enjoyed our meal inside at one of their tables. The dining room was surprisingly empty for how many folks were waiting

New to this location but not new to the business... I popped in to meet up with the old battle ax's parents and I have to say I was happy to come try out a different location of a place I have frequent it in the past. Dubbed myself an Americano which is always good nothing to write home about but done well... We also got a flourless pastry don't make me remember the name it was orange goodness I would just butcher trying to type it out here... I will keep this short because I am not very well-versed but I have tried a half dozen or so items from this establishment they're all good

I had the tomato bisque and spinach Croustade and it was perfect for this cold November morning. The Croustade was creamy and savory, very flaky as well. Absolutely perfect. The tomato bisque had a lot of flavor and is nowhere near bland.
The reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is because of the atmosphere. The tables are socially distanced, so I understand, but I feel like there could be more while being safe. Secondly there is a restroom for customers, but there is no signs for it.
Absolutely adored the spot, great for picking up lunch but not to stay unless it's quick and there is only

Everything is so pretty. Like it has an Instagram filter on! It smells amazing as soon as you walk in. Folx are wearing gloves while they touch pastries. Cashier was quite friendly.
We drove over early Sunday morning and loved the coffee, quiche, and got some kouign amann's for later. There were also these little tiny empty cream puffs that had just come out of the oven. It reminded me of a malasada or fancy doughnut hole. We are definitely going back!

Delicious, worth the wait. Quiche jardiniere was delicious and clearly made with the best ingredients. Hazelnut dacquoise was the perfect combination of textures and rich flavors. Pear Bourgogne was delicious and fresh. Only one person serving the long line of Saturday morning customers which made for a long wait but it was worth it.

The pastries were out of this world! The place is really beautiful on the inside too. I only am knocking off a star because the service was really slow and the employees were chatting with each other instead of heating up the pastries, but I 100% recommend this place nonetheless!

My group went here for lunch 2 weeks ago. It was overpriced almost double sensible prices would be, especially the soup and smaller baked goods. The employee serving us was rude, acting like I was irritating them when I asked questions.

About 80% if the items are made of croissant which can be limiting and boring.

Great classic popular French bakery. A bit on the pricey side for the product. However, I personally think they have the best desserts like eclairs, dacquoise, etc - very authentic and delicious. The bread and pastries are not as special as their desserts. Also, due to covid and allowing air circulation, sometimes flies may sit on some baked goods and seems to be difficult to prevent for now.

A true French Patisserie!
We stopped by on our road trip around the Northwest for breakfast. The best croissants outside of Paris. You will not be disappointed.

When I gazed into the glass displays full of the beautifully baked artisinal bread and the perfectly executed French pastries and sweets, my memories of living in France came to life in front of me.

I remembered the road trip me and my husband (now ex) took all over France, and every morning we would stop at the local patisserie and I would get the pain au chocolat chocolate croissant) and he would get the regular croissant. Then we would stop at the local bistro for my coffee before we hit the road.

The pain au chocolat from St. Honoré is just as good as those I've had in France. And

Excellent bakery with really good croissants and Croustade. I stopped by here to pick up Chocolate Croissant, Almond Croissant, and Spinach Croustade. My family loved the pastries and they were all gone within 5 minutes of opening the bag :)

I read other reviews about long lines but I didn't see a long crowd when I visited (Sun afternoon). There were a couple of patio tables to sit and eat but they were occupied. Next time I will try one of their breads.

Cute outdoor seating area, when you first see the place. Then when you enter, it is just amazing. Everything is fresh, the staff is friendly and informative on the items. The croissants and pastries were to die for. Went there twice on my trip to Portland and brought back a box of croissants to New Jersey

Very disappointing - got St. Honoré cake to go and its profiteroles were burned (see the photo), caramel layer was too thick and also burned, felt like it’s easy to break teeth with that. Tasted burned. I don’t understand how whoever made it didn’t feel embarrassed to actually let it being sold.

SUPER YUM!!! Pastries & Tea were quality and the Service was top-notch! The woman behind the register was very patient with me and Ron R. because we get really indecisive when we r hungry & haven't had caffeine. The Lord Bergamot (earl-grey/black tea) w/cream is my go-to beverage here and the famous bag of delightfully-fluffy-pearl sugared-chouquettes is simple happiness in pastry form! Thank you to the hubs Ron R. for making me move to the PNW so I can eat my life away through the massive food scene here! Definite recommend and I shall return!

Simply Wonderful. We are not from Oregon but anything we visit we must stop at St. Honore Boulangerie. And by stop at I mean we pretty much get pastries and sandwiches every morning that we are in the Portland area. We are obsessed! Everything is so beautifully done and fresh. You really can't go wrong with anything you order there. We will definitely be visiting again in the fall.

The pastries here will leave you with an escaped desire for flavor. I tried the strawberry rhubarb and apple bread pudding pastry and the flavors didn't necessarily tingle my sweet tooth senses. The rhubarb lacked it's traditional tart, so the strawberries carried the entire pastry. The apple bread pudding had some delicious spots in it, but was mostly tasteless bread and bread pudding. It seems like these pastries have a theme of the very top layer carrying the extravagant flavor you come for, but the bottom 2/3 being empty calories you don't want.
I realize that this place is in downtown Portland

Oh man, talk about YUM!!! As I waited for my order from Chimaek Town across the street, I decided on grabbing a pastry and a late afternoon coffee kick from here. I've only been here a couple of times, but so far so good.

At first, the staff seemed somewhat hesitant to help at first, so I shoved my face in front of the glass display full of goodies for someone to acknowledged me. The lady behind the counter was basically awaiting for me to approach and order. She did wear a mask, as did the other staff. Regarding the covid dining-in situation, there's only a couple of tables inside

5 out 5! If I could give St. Honoré more stars I would. We spent a wonderful brunch in the outdoor seating under the sun. We had a Brie Bartlett panini, hazelnut chocolate croissant, opera sponge cake, and apple torte. Everything was so delicious, flakey, and satisfying at very reasonable prices for the quality of French pastries. Staff were friendly and quick! When we arrived behind a line of at least 8 groups outside we were thinking about leaving but after about ten minutes we were in and we were so glad we waited.

Yum! Such a great bakery. Last time I had the St.Honore which was delicious but opted for an apple tart and raspberry tart this time around. The raspberry was my favorite. It was decadent but also super light and airy! Their macaroon shell on top was so spectacular. It was crispy but then had a great chewy consistency.

I also ordered an egg sandwich which came in a croissant. Would highly recommend! Their croissants are so fluffy with the perfect amount of layers. It's incredible.

In terms of covid, they allow 2 parties inside at a time. The line is mostly outside and is about a 10-15

I love the atmosphere both inside and outside the bakery.

I tried the Kouign Amann ($4.39) which I never had before. It was doughy mostly and flaky on the outside, so a more dense croissant coated in a caramel layer and sea salt. I loved the chew and overall flavor. (4.5/5)

Did a long Wildwood trail and Thurman hike and was and looking forward to a reward, but a bit disappointing.

Post COVID19 everyone was safe and good protocol, kudos, but this is Portland you can expect that much.

The sweets were awesome: two tarts and almond croissant rocked, almost like Europe, 4 stars

The chicken salad and strasbourg pinanie were very disappointing pricy and don't be hungry, slim European serving size. They were fresh and tasty but not as good as I remembered them to be, maybe it was the terribly long wait as well, LOL
