Living in Manhattan (NYC) is stressful, and whether in dating or at work, you want to have healthy, successful relationships. So what gets in the way?. Deep down, you don't feel confident about yourself--You're afraid you don't deserve love and affection. I understand how hard it is to connect to others when you have a lot of anxiety and insecurity.

But the truth is anxiety shouldn't keep you from finding love and happiness. I've dedicated my life to helping people overcome their anxiety, improve their confidence, and build thriving, healthy relationships, using my personal experience together with the best available science and practices. You shouldn't have to play phone tag with a therapist, or wonder if they'll call you back.
Services
Jennifer Whitney is a third-year clinical psychology doctoral student at New School for Social Research. She is also a meditation and yoga teacher throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn and has led a Mindful Self-Care community in the Psychology Department at NSSR. She is interested in the intersection of Contemplative Practices, Psychotherapy, and Social Justice.
You want to feel on top of your game at work, and surrounded by people you love and feel connected to. Psychotherapy can help you practice better communication, build stronger relationships, manage your anxiety, and grow your self-confidence. I'm a clinical psychologist who helps professionals feel confident and fulfilled at work and their relationships.
To book an initial phone consultation, you can use my booking portal to find a time that works for you. You pick a time, I'll confirm the appointment, and then I'll call you. It's that simple! After we begin working together, you can call me or leave me a voicemail to reschedule appointments, and I will get back to you within 24 hours.
I am available for speaking engagements and lectures. I strongly believe in the dissemination of psychological science and knowledge, and sharing it in jargon-free language. I am currently giving talks and presentations about my new book, A People's History of Psychoanalysis: From Freud to Liberation Psychology.
I am not currently taking on new clients and am unavailable to provide phone consultations. If you are looking for a provider, I recommend NYC WELL (1-888-692-9355). If you call them with 1) your insurance, 2) location, and 3) clinical need they can often come up with 8-10 different referrals to meet your needs.

I have known Dr. Daniel José Gaztambide for many years, having met through our shared affiliation with several professional psychology organizations. Dr. Gaztambide or "Dr. G," as his clients often know him, is an incredibly insightful and warm clinician with a refreshing sense of humor. He approaches those in distress with a keen awareness of how resilience can be located within one's connection to their culture/s, identities, experiences, and artistic forms of expression. I am often stuck by Dr. Gaztambide's ability to help others "connect the dots," while managing difficult and painful emotional

As a colleague, I have been impressed by how respectful, caring, and committed Dr. Gaztambide is to his clients. He has excellent training and is very thoughtful about his clinical work as well as his research and writing. He is especially attentive and responsive to individual differences and needs and helps his clients feel truly seen and heard. He also appreciates how the social/cultural environment impacts and interacts with individual concerns so that he can help his clients navigate difficult environmental as well as psychological challenges. Perhaps most importantly, he approaches his work
