Outstanding customer service, fair and honest pricing, and repairs done on time. If I could give them another star I would!
I purchased a bike online from another company and took it to Velo for their safety check. I ended up having some problems with the bike due to defective parts (not purchased through Velo). They stood behind their work and made the repairs no questions asked and no charge for their labor. I couldn’t be happier with their work and professionalism. Next bike I will definitely purchase from them directly.

I'm surprised to see that there are any bad reviews of Velo. Frankly, I think the people who wrote those are just a-holes.
Without question, Velo is my favorite bike shop on the planet. FWIW, I ride my bike professionally. I've been there so many times I that when I made my most recent bike purchase from them, I didn't even need to talk about what kind of bike I'd like, they just knew. They were like, you want this one. And I was like, okay, sweet, I'll take. And it's THE perfect bike for me.

Great staff. Super friendly. Helped me get a bike since I'm a beginner, so I needed a lot of help. I went in to get my 30 day tune up and they got it done for me so fast. Love the bike I got from them too. I originally went in to look at their used bikes but none of them fit me well since I'm a shorter person. The staff helped me pick out a new one at a decent price.

I was on a market for a bike and came here. Although I ended up going with a different bike from somewhere else, the service here is great!
They asked what I was looking for in a bike and gave me some options to look at which was nice. They have a decent selection of both new and old bikes. They also let you test ride the bike around the block to make sure you know how the bike feels.
I also came here on a different occasion to get my partner's bike tire pumped and they were super helpful. We couldn't figure out how to get the pump to work so the wonderful staff helped us and we were

Lloyd was fantastic! He helped me bring my seat back up and installed my new pump. Quick. Efficient. Exactly what I needed.
I love this shop. They know what they are doing and recommend not the most expensive thing but the one that adjust to your needs.
I hope I can bring my rollerblades today get check once I buy them and need maintenance:)

I'm new to biking and have an ancient but classic bike. With a broken spoke, I wanted to get some advice on how to proceed between a fix and new wheels. Spoke to the owner who took the time to discuss all the options. Clearly he was more interested in me making a good decision rather than the business making a quick buck. Got my bike fixed and checked out incredibly quickly. I will definitey be back and give him all my future business as there is biking in my future. Thanks Velo!!

Messed up my bike, then quoted more than I paid for it to fix it.
Had a bike I rode for over 6 years with 0 problems. Took it to Velo Bike Shop to have new pedals installed. They told me most of bike parts are mismatched and need to be replaced. I've agreed to partially replace some (rear wheel in particular) but not all because it was too expensive and I didn't see a good reason to replace parts that were already working fine... Next day I take it for a ride, as I am starting uphill transmission just explodes with bolts and gears flying in all directions. They quote me more than what I paid for

Unfortunately they are not transparent about the amount of time a repair will take. I dropped my bike off here on Monday for a tire replacement (a very quick service) and they told me it would be ready in a couple of hours. I went back on Tuesday and then they told me it would be ready the next day. It is now Friday and I went back and they told me it is still not ready. They told me at the earliest it would be ready Monday. I would have brought it to another shop if I had known that such a simple task would take 7 days to complete rather than the initial "couple of hours" they had said

What a great shop, with helpful staff looking to get the right thing for you!
I was in town visiting and looking for a rental bike. I was able to get one for a couple of days, they worked with me on the pedals so I could use my cleats, they helped me adjust it on the following day after I had gone out on the first ride. The bike was sturdy and well equipped. They gave me maps for area rides and talked about routes. The front staff, the manager, the repair person were just terrific and helpful. I paid a reasonable amount, and even got a jersey to take home.
Really made my trip so much better

I will NOT be bringing my bike back to Velo for repairs - the tech I worked with was incredibly rude and cared more about doing the work quickly than doing it well.
I brought my bike in for a tune-up, as well as some work on my bottom bracket since it was sounding and feeling pretty rough, after reading on their site that they can turn most service around same-day. I brought my bike in first thing in the morning, and since it was the busy season, the tech told me it would be a few days. I asked if I could make an appointment for a future date instead, and he told me that yes, they took appointments

Went there today to purchase a used bike since there were a couple on their website that interested me. I was helped by a congenial and knowledgeable member of Velo's sales staff who answered all my questions. Took both bikes for a test drive, settled on one of them, and bought it along with a lock and helmet. So far a five star experience.
Then I asked, can you attach the lock holder on the bike for me and the reply was "Er ..if this were a new bike we could but since it's used we'll have to charge you for the labour..." Decided I would just do it myself, paid,

I recommend Recycled Cycles or even Gregg's. Bought a bike there, and next day took it for a spin and realized it wasn't the model I was looking for. They told me they don't do returns and you are basically stuck with the bike. Not bad customer service, but I usually buy my bikes from Recycled Cycles and the prices are decent and they guarantee their bikes. Going used is not always bad.

I've seen some mixed reviews of this shop so I was worried about using them to tune up my bike. I can honestly say the "Haters" are wrong. Tune ups start at $50.
I got $75 performance tune up which someone complain had a hidden charges for the brake pads. They are very clear parts aren't included in the $75 price and give a $35 estimate for pads. My brakes were good so they teaked a few things to offset the brake work they weren't doing.
I took my bike in worried about a few things. The one clerk was suggesting I go with the $50 tune but I wanted a more through tune

I'm the sucker. Was too lazy to do work myself replace disc brake pads and rear brake cable. $110!!!! It was a "conveniently"unclear estimate and I was suprised when the price was doubled. Could have done it myself for $40. I used to like this shop when it was on Pine. Now It's all hipster service with downtown Amazon pricing. The woman that checked me out was nice at least and was gracious enough to adjust the price a bit.
UPDATE: the rear brake pads weren't even set right. Had to redo it the next day. Lovely.

This is the closest bike shop to my office downtown and is why they are still receiving my business. The staff are friendly and helpful, but I fell into the trap of not doing enough research before bringing my bike in for a repair.
I brought the bike it to have a spoke replaced because I was told that doing this type of work yourself is… ill-advised, as you should have a professional properly check the tension in all of your spokes during the repair process.
I assumed that this would be standard practice for this type of pair. Wrong assumption. I had loosened a couple of my spokes to be

Want to give a shout out to Velo Bike Shop for 2 reasons:
1) I was shopping different bike shops for a new bike because my Bianchi didn't fit quite right. They were the only shop that that suggested trying new handlebars, stem, saddle, etc to get my existing bike to fit right instead of just trying to get me to buy a new bike.
