I came here with my beach cruiser since the gears weren't working properly, the back tire was flat, and it needed an overall tune up. I also had a metal basket that I needed to remove. They finished the tune up and tire replacement within 24 hours and it was only $27 ! So cheap for a tune-up. The bike rides so smooothly now!
So stoked. Would highly recommend.

Mostly great Service and Prices, however, they have a tendency to overinflate tires. I'm not the only one on this. While waiting on two separate occasions, two other customers complained that Bernies did something to cause their tires to pop just after leaving. I then left and three hours later my tire burst! (Not puncture, BURST!) Thats overinflation.
Doublecheck all other work too, cus they sometimes miss a few things!
Lastly, their shop could use a little organizing and tidying. Maybe that costs too much labor, but a few hours of organizing displays would do a lot of good for everyone.

I had an old neglected bike with a rusty chain, flat tires, cobwebs, etc.. I went around town to get estimates for how much it would cost to get it ridable again.

I was greeted and left to wait. A lady came minutes later and was also greeted. Then the lady was asked to wait inside the doorway. Minutes later, The repair lady looked at me and said " ladies first". She spook to the pretty white lady and promised her the bike would be done today.
I attempted to explain my issue and she said" We won't touch your bike until next week, bring back next week" I'm a brown man 60 years old.
Why didn't I get treated more fairly? I don't know, but I thought the incident should be documented for the next black or brown man that stops by. I hope this was a fluke.

I made an appointment a month in advance for a basic tune up and once the bike was in the shop, waited days to get it back. If they're this busy, start telling customers you can't take on any more jobs. After paying for the tune up, my bike's issues were exactly the same, so who knows if they even touched it. Won't be going back; their glory days are behind them now.

A definite 5*****. I have been using their service for at least 20+ years!!!
The owners may not know it but they are like Family because I they are trustworthy and more than fair. A truly Precious couple and business!

I can't believe I have to write this about a jewel like Bernie's Bike Shop. I've lived in Ocean Beach for over a decade and have been inside a couple of times. Last week I went in to get a new U-lock and it was the worst customer service from the man inside. I was actually literally uncomfortable in the store.

The lady who works there is really friendly and nice. I told her I needed a bike lock and she told me to come on in.

I'm sure they are knowledgeable and are clearly always busy but, the owner of this shop is the rudest person I've ever dealt with. I was appalled at how I was treated. Your customers are who keep you in business and you should treat people with respect.

Efficient, friendly, and affordable. I was told it would be a 2 week wait for bicycle repair. It was less time and I was pleasantly surprised that it was also very inexpensive. Family feel with quality work. Can't beat it!

Recently purchased two vintages bikes and needed new peddles for one of the bikes. We came in on a Tuesday mid morning and we were helped within minutes. A few additional minutes later we had the bike peddles replaced for under $20 bucks! Safe to say we will definitely be back. Thanks for stay open during the Covid-19 days!

Bernies is the best. I had Bernie build some wheels for me 35yrs ago and they were great. I believe Bernie has pasted by now . But Roger and his wife now run the store, I think Bernie might be Rogers father-in-law. I do much of my own work and Roger will always give me tips or get that stuck nut off and then make recommendations on the fix. His prices are certainly competitive but just the aura of the store makes it worth going in. Its the best

Roger and his wife simply the best. Amazing prices on every day cycling needs, and incredibly quick expert service at insanely low prices. You wouldn't expect a small shop to be this affordable and reliable, but they are, and I've been in the bike industry or related to it for a long, long time.

I had a BOB stroller with a flat tire that I tried to fix myself, but I'm totally clueless in this department so started looking for some help. I made a call to a bike shop in PB and they actually recommended I try out Bernie's who confirmed via phone they could help! I stopped in about 5:30pm on a Monday night with my stroller and little guy in tow... in less than 5 mins and for $5 (plus tax) I had a new tube in my tire and we were ready to go.

Been coming here for years for bike repairs and minor issues and I purchase most (if not all) bike parts and accessories here. Came in today for some tightening of screws and for them to install a lock (for which I was too lazy/ignorant to do myself). Being a Sat AM, they had many riders come in with issues and off the bat, I said "no rush at all". Bernie's Bike Shop is a jewel!! On a recent trip to Ocean Beach, our bike got two flat tires on the local trail. Called Bernie's at 4 P.M. and asked if they could do the repair. They closed at 5 P.M. but said bring it right over and we'll finish it today.
The female owner or employee (not sure) took in the bike, estimated a great price, and said she would be done in 30 minutes. Everything was as promised and our trip could continue as planned. Thanks Bernie's for a job well done and creating super satisfied customers!! We love Bernie's Bike Shop!!

I was evaluating whether or not to buy a classic 1986 Schwinn road bike yesterday from a shady character online, and brought the bike here for evaluation. They checked it out, gave me the thumbs up, made some adjustments for me, and $20 later the bike was clean, the handlebars re-wrapped, the chain oiled, the tires properly filled, and the bearings tightened. I really appreciated their feedback, and rolled out when they closed on a bike that felt brand new!
