Therapists of New York is a team of doctoral level psychotherapists located in Midtown Manhattan. Our team has been carefully curated and is composed of some of the top therapists in New York City. The various personalities and expertise areas on our team allow us to treat individuals, couples and families, with a wide variety of presenting problems.
Whether you are seeking therapy for general mental health or to address a specific concern or psychological disorder, we will tailor treatment to meet your needs. What makes Therapists of New York particularly unique is our client-therapist matching process where we aim to relieve the initial hardship of shopping around to find the right therapist.

Services
We have developed expertise in working with adults, adolescents, and couples from diverse backgrounds. During the first session (consultation) we will talk about what you would like to work on and ways in which we can help you. We will also determine if we are a good match. A consultation may be useful if you are not sure whether you need or want therapy or if you are looking for a second opinion.
We work with clients who have Cigna, Aetna, BCBS, and United, and many other popular insurance carriers as out-of-network providers. Although we do not accept insurance directly, we will gladly file claims to your insurance company on your behalf. Coverage for our services will vary depending on your insurance plan.
We all feel anxious at times. Anxiety is good! It keeps us vigilant and safe and allows us to fight or flee when we are in danger. Seriously, if we did not experience anxiety we would have all been eaten up by lions many moons ago. For some people, heightened anxiety is absolutely necessary for their survival, specifically for those who are dealing with hunger, danger, and instability in their day to day lives.
People with chronic medical illnesses such as cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diabetes, chronic pain, lupus or cystic fibrosis may be at increased risk for experiencing depression and anxiety compared to their healthy peers. For example, one study found that 16% of patients with cancer meet diagnostic criteria for major depression, compared to only 6.7% of people in the general population (Greer, 2016).
Dating can be wonderful and exciting, but it can also be disappointing and fear-inducing. Whether you're on a search for your soulmate or just looking for a semi-regular dinner date, trying to find a partner can activate many of our fears and insecurities.
Common dating issues we encounter at Therapists of New York include ambivalence about jumping into the dating pool, confusion about how to meet people, fear of rejection, disappointment and exhaustion at not finding a connection, and once people do connect, concerns about establishing intimacy.Therapy can be a unique opportunity to discuss your concerns, get support, and build insight into patterns that emerge for you when seeking a partner.
