What a lovely experience! Not something I normally say about a trip to the dentist but it truly was at Dr. Metrick’s office. Dr. Metrick and his staff were warm, friendly and welcoming on my first visit. The office was calm and cozy and my teeth cleaning was quite thorough. I’m so happy I found them and I’d recommend them in a heartbeat.

This was my first time visiting Sound Dentistry and Dr. Benjamin Metrick and I had a great experience. The receptionist and dental assistant was very kind and welcoming and greeted me first by taking my temperature which was a good sign that they are taking precautions. After this I filled out a few quick forms and had my X-Rays done within 20 minutes. Once I met with Dr. Metrick he went over the X-Rays with me and gave me a very thorough and detailed explanation of what is going on, which I really appreciated. Dr. Metrick is very thorough and methodical, and is very good at keeping me informed about everything he’s doing. I know he’s good when I feel like I’m not paying him enough for the time and attention he gives to me. And Maritza is the best! Horrible. A truly burned-out and upset individual, that of whom I should have opted to learn more about prior to my emergency visit.
I experienced an abscess after 34 years of never having a serious tooth issue before, and Dr. Mettrick took on the role of victimizing the patient full-force. He declined me service for not being on a non-dependendent medication I hadn't taken in 6 years?!?! I honestly don't understand the rationale in that reasoning. He even suggested I register as 'homeless' at a hospital, to go and seek the help I need.

Dr. Metrick should have his licensed revoked. I went to him for a simple dental cleaning and walked out after over an hour with no cleaning done-just x-rays. I had to return for the cleaning and he told me I had 6 cavities. I never had a cavity in my life prior to this, but I believed him and scheduled to have one filled on the day I went back for the cleaning that I should have had on the first scheduled appt. I return, he fills one cavity, does ONE-QUARTER of my mouth for the cleaning and then says he doesn't have time to finish the rest and I will need to return to do 1/4 of my mouth at a time

I couldn't say anything better about this experience. I had an emergency and found Dr. Metrick through a professional referral. The office manager responded and fit me in right away. Dr. Metrick was a super pro. He explained options/procedure, worked quickly, no pain/discomfort and what he did with my front tooth (which is more important to me than other people because I'm a professional clarinet player and the top teeth secure the instrument in the mouth) was art, very seriously.

Dr. Metrick has been one of the most professional dentists that I have ever encountered. There is little to no wait time and he makes sure to explain the process before beginning any procedure. Prior to my visit with Dr. Metrick, I absolutely hated going to the dentist. But now the experience is not as dreadful as it was because he makes sure to take his time and I had little to no discomfort during my procedure. My overall experience has just been amazing!

As always, Dr. Metrick was very attentive to my concern. He conducted a careful exam and explained my condition. He also referred me to a specialist and sent all the necessary information to his office. This was a Friday night. When I came to see the specialist on Monday, he said that Dr. Metrick also called him Friday night to explain my condition. I am very grateful for all the attention. I know I can always count on Dr. Metrick's expertise and understanding. I've been his patient for 25 years and never once did I have any regrets.

I came to see Dr. Metrick after one of my front teeth fell off. It was a crown that completely broke off, leaving me looking like a Hobo. I was afraid this was going to require an implant which is a 6 months and very expensive process. After working on me for an hour and a half, Dr. Metrick was able to fix my tooth, put a new rod to hold the crown and put it all together like it never happened. And it was very affordable!
I left feeling like a million dollars, and very grateful. I highly recommend Dr. Metrick. He is an exquisite and meticulous professional. You know you are in good hands.

My family has been seeing Dr. Metrick for ca. five years, and he is the best dentist we have ever had. We like him so much that even though we live in Hell's Kitchen now, we still go see him. He is very good about making sure you are not in pain, and is always double-checking to make sure you are OK while he is working on you. He is very calm, friendly, methodical and has only done excellent work on our teeth.
The office staff members are also incredibly nice, and there are lots of magazines, books and a few kids toys. His office is right next door the the 181st Street Station.

I recently moved to NYC from out of state and was very overwhelmed trying to find a dentist. I found Dr. Metrick since his office location was most convenient for me. I am suffering from TMJ issues and Dr. Metrick was very thorough with a dental history and examination. I have a brand new TMJ appliance and am very confident it will help improve my life. I have had many dentists work on my teeth and gums in over 50 years and i found Dr. Metrick to be painless, caring and using the latest technology. My last dentist still used old x-ray technology and totally did not care about pain. Dr. Metrick knows how to provide great care with little pain. I am beginning to relax a little when sitting down in the chair, the music helps!

I'm also not sure what the positive reviews are for. The X-rays were much more painful than elsewhere and then he wanted to do 8-10 fillings. This was either over treatment or straight fraud as I went to 3 other dentists who all told me he was wrong.
They also could not even tell me an exact cost for the procedures, I guess allowing them to bill whatever they want?
This man is either dishonest or incompetent. Either way I would go elsewhere.

I'm so happy to have found Dr. Metrick (Thank you, Robert P. and Leigh S.). He was kind, gentle, professional and informative. I went in for an exam and cleaning and it went very well. Dr. Metrick went over all of my xrays and carefully explained the details of the work that I need to have done. His hygienist is great too.
The office was very comfortable and I love the neighborhood. I can't imagine that there could be a better dentist in New York. He is also very affordable!
