I got the ube and pandan donuts. The donuts themselves are fine, but they had basically no filling. They were just sugar donuts––which are good, but not what I ordered. I would rather drive downtown to Rose Ave Bakery and get a properly filled ube or pandan donut.
I'm not that upset, I'm just sad :(.

Tried their Ube cheesecake, ube pan de sal, and ube donut. they are really yummy, but i mostly taste sugar over Ube. especially in the ube donut, it was whipped crème filled, but it felt like it was straight sugar and heavy whipping cream… don’t get me wrong it was a good donut, but it did not taste like ube. The best was the ube cheesecake in my opinion!

Searched "birthday cake" and saw this place. My friend and I arrived, asked for a cake and they had a freshly made mango cake available. They even made a happy birthday sign for it when I asked. They accommodated our random visit for a whole cake + sign while they also fulfilled this other customer's mentally draining requests. Those two employees at the front handled that situation professionally.
In addition, there were some guys doing spar boxing across the parking lot so we just watched that while they prepared our order. Great people. Great service. Cake was delicious.

I recently read about Ube and the various desserts that are based on Ube. I wanted to bake some desserts using Ube but wanted to get a taste for this food item before I went down the cooking rabbit hole. Yelping for "Ube near me" led me to Gwenie's! And Thank the stars for that recommendation!
The store is located in a warehouse location and has no storefront other than a heavy metal door! I thought we were at the wrong place, but I did venture ahead and opened the door. That action revealed a store behind the doors and we went right in!

Several foodies in my community have raved about Gwenie's; so naturally, I had to check it out for myself. I love ube and there are so many ube options on their menu...I walked in and was like, yes, I am in ube heaven! We purchased ube cheesecake, ube custard pie, pandan and ube filled doughnuts, sapin, ube/cheese filled roll, and sweet coconut filled roll. All the desserts were amazing. The ladies are so friendly and answered all of our questions. This is a great family business tucked away in Rockville. I plan to comeback and definitely recommend it to all my friends in the area. Thank you!
