This asian bakery is very popular, so much that most of the time I'm there, the shelves are half empty. I think their signature cream puff are just ok... I like the novelty of it, but the taste is average. Their baked goods are less on the sweeter side like most asian bakeries. I like japong better than bread corner (down the street) because I feel better eating their bakeries. It tastes lighter, not as heavy on the oil and seasoning. Price wise, it can be cheaper... I think it would be definitely worth the value if each item was like 25 cents cheaper. I tried a lot of their baked foods (except

First time here, but won't be my last! The bakery is quaint but has shelves upon shelves of yummy looking baked goods. I was craving pineapple buns and walked out of the store with so much more. The store was very clean and orderly, the staff were very friendly, and the pineapple buns did not disappoint. Highly recommend turning off of Rockville Pike and hopping into Japong for a treat!

Came here on a weekday afternoon to grab some bread, got a pineapple bread and two red bean mochi breads. Ate them the following day after re-heating them in the oven. Really tasty, light and not too sweet. The red bean in one of them tasted a bit funny, but the beans were really big, pretty awesome. The mochi piece was pretty big too, soft and chewy, delicious! Pretty pricey for what it is as the breads came out to be about $9 post-tax.

I rarely give 5 stars, but this place deserves it! The breads are so moist and chewy with perfect amount of flavor. The sweet or savory breads are just right and always taste fresh. The prices are very affordable as well. They have unique flavors that other Asian bakeries don't carry. For something sweet I would recommend the chocolate pineapple bun /milk cream bread and for savory the okonomiyaki bread. Just try them all and you won't be disappointed.

I kept seeing this place on the outside, but never had the chance to go inside. But, as soon as you get inside the shop, you are bombarded with golden glistening bread everywhere. It was truly a spectacle to watch in that first impression. The bread there is all soft - the typical Asian soft and light tasting. As long as you are conscience as to the type of bread you are getting, it is not very sweet or overly greasy. I was able to choose a couple and ate them quickly. The experience was delightful and would have gone perfectly with some tea. The cheesecake was the Japanese type where it was more

Solid asian bakery! We came in on a weekend afternoon and it was quite busy, so Ii would expect to wait in line to pay for at least 10 minutes. The bakery itself is a bit small, but there's a lot of variety. It seems that they sell out of bread quickly, no surprises. Kept my purchases simple that day, got a plain choux cream and a condensed milk bar treat. I don't know what the name of that second thing was because there wasn't a sign but oh my, it was quite tasty. I wouldn't recommend the choux cream if you want a sweet and milky flavor, as what I had fell very flat and tasted

Their bakery goods are consistently good, and we recently bought their passion fruit cake for a celebration and it was delicious! Really worth it. The one issue with the cake that dropped the review to a 4 star was that we found a moldy raspberry on the cake... and i think the fruits in general can use a bit more quality check. For the price you pay I think the expectation is def higher.

Definitely one of the best bakeries in MoCo!
We always get the coconut buns, cream filled bun, red bean buns, red bean donuts and matcha croissant bread. We love getting the matcha cheesecake and fruit cakes for special occasions. And ordering is always so easy. You can order online and have everything ready for pick up. They did this before COVID, but after COVID - they made the process even more easier and seamless.
Prices are reasonable.
And everything is always fresh.
Service is good.
Definitely a MoCo staple!

Nice surprise! I couldn't find Asian bakery to suit my need and finally have one. Sweet but not too sweet. Milky. Buttery.
After eating spicy mala pot, I had a sudden urge for sweet little things. Japong Bakery came up in a search and ordered four items in the popular section on its website without any hassle. Cream puff was so good. Unique in its own way. Harder shell than usual ones. Silly cream inside.

They have a geat setup for COVID-19. You can order online or a staff comes out to take your order. They also have curbside pickup available.
I always over order at this place. This time I got individual mango mouse cake, original chiffon, milk butter pineapple bun, coconut bun, and walnut cookies. Everything was delicious.

Pretty good bakery. The menu selection isnt as broad compared to other bakeries, which makes selection really easy.
I ordered the chocolate croissant, coconut bread, and 2 cream puffs (vanilla and chocolate). The chocolate croissant is really good if you put it in the toaster oven, so that it makes it crunchy, flaky, and warm chocolate. I ordered the coconut bread, however, i realized they gave me taro bread when i got home. It was still really good, the bread was really soft and pillowy. The cream puffs were also good, but the pastry was similar to a croissant.

During COVID times, Japong Bakery is doing it right. I intentionally scheduled my car appointment in Rockville on a Wednesday because of its proximity to this bakery and Japong is currently closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Currently you cannot enter the bakery at all. They have all their offerings displayed in the window (with prices, thank you), and a worker comes outside to take your order and your credit card. I'm not sure if you can pay with cash, but most likely not.
I got some of my favorite things which includes their chocolate croissants. At $2.85 they are cheaper than other nearby

Creamcheese cake was amazing, got all of the other mini cakes we like the mousse except for the mango.. it needs more flavor or something. Tiramusu was too potent. Coffee roll was good, hot dog pastry was okay.. my daughter didn't like the ketchup. The box they gave it was cute and they added a bow. I appreciate them writing Happy Birthday to my daughter, she loved her cake!

Just, WOW! During this time, I've ordered Japong Bakery for delivery through Uber Eats, and I was in love at first bite. Here's a breakdown of the breads I've ordered, starting with my favorites:
Ham and cheese bun: Absolutely delicious. I'll be regularly ordering this for the rest of my life. I've always gone to Starbucks for my breakfast sandwiches (which are pretty small and about $5 each), but I plan to replace that with Japong's ham and cheese bun (which is much larger, tastier, and cheaper). The flavor on this bun is just fantastic; it's a must-try.

We were at the Persian Bakery and found this Japanese-/Taiwanese-style bakery, Japong Bakery next door. We had to go in to see what they have, and they had a lot of pastries and cakes typically found in Japan and Taiwan. Everything looked fresh. We bought a few pastries for our breakfast, and they were delicious.
