Henry's Soul Cafe, Home of the Sweet Potato Pie is known for it's fine southern cooking and sweet potato pie. Henry's vision was to provide the best quality food at the most economical prices. The new offspring proved to be a success, with seating and expansion into Maryland.

I had the liver & onions meal and Im very disappointed. I kept trying to give it a try but it just wasn’t working. The rice was undercooked, the noodles were over cooked in the Mac and cheese. Everything was bland. My brothers ordered the smothered pork chop meals and they also had the same complaints. A complete waste of money. We actually threw our food out and just ordered from somewhere else. I hope they can turn things around, I used to love this place but now I can’t say the same.

Nothing is made fresh! Unfortunately all of the sides are boxed or canned. Extremely disheartened that a black owned restaurant would call their business a "Soul Food" establishment when their is no "soul" put into the food!
Gordon Ramsay would lay the hammer down if he were to ever step foot in Henry's. You all should be ashamed to serve people boxed mashed potatoes, store bought potato salad, canned green beans and the like. If you can't live up to the name, then it's time to shut it down!

I bought sweet potato pies for Thanksgiving. The pies were delicious. The only issue that I had was the experience picking them up. I purchased the pies online to pick up in-store. The parking lot at the restaurant is beyond small and there was no parking. After a long wait, someone left and I could park and walk inside. After an initial bit of confusion concerning where to pick up pre-orders, I was able to grab and go. I will return since the pies were amazing but probably not on the day before Thanksgiving.

I buy pies all the time and normally the quality and taste is a hit but this Christmas was different. Sweet potato pie is normally bomb.. this time is wasn't. The crust was soggy. I may need to lay off for a while. Thanksgiving the pies were really good. Did you all get another cook for Christmas? I really would like consistency with taste/quality. Please do something about the sogginess of the crust. I'd really like to know did a different person make pies this time.

The food is authentic and AWESOME;however, the Customer Service is suspect. Called for an on-line order at 3pm. Emailed me back the order would be ready 3:43pm. WHY were people just ordering when I got there receiving their order before me??!! WHY am I waiting almost till 4:30pm??! WHY aren’t there separate lines for call in/on-line orders and regular customers??!! I have to form a line when I’m supposed to just get mine and leave.

I purchased 3 meals on 11/18/21. The whiting sold to me was riddled with black spots. Apparently the fish was full of parasites, yet the chef decided to cook it anyway to my absolute horror! Where is quality control or your sense of moral decency? While the other food ordered didn't have obvious signs of contamination, it simply was not good and carried a serious unpleasant aftertaste. I hope the owner sees the review and pledges to do better!

Five star! Me and my fam are from out of town and we called around to ask what places were dining in. We arrived at 630pm. We got our food a little later (720) but the food was completely worth the wait! I ordered the Catfish with Mac and cheese and fried okra. I mean the food was piping hot and fresh tasting!!! Later we found out the staff was familiar with where we were traveling from. We will definitely be back and we encourage everyone to try Henry’s Soul Cafe!

Unfortunately, I stopped here to try the Turkey wings dinner with greens and yams. The gravy and stuffing for wings was pretty decent. The greens were old and taste re-heated, the yams taste like a bag of brown sugar. Definitely disappointed in wasting $15 on a meal that was awful. Try at your own risk. No photos because the food went into the trash. Oh, The cornbread muffin was good.

This place used to be good to me, but today I didn't purchase anything other than a slice of sweet potatoes ppe and it wasn't even a full slice when I looked in the bag. My daughter purchased a Turkey wing dinner and she said the only thing that was ok was the gravy on the wings, the greens were salty, the Mac n cheese taste like box with hardly any cheese. I'm mad.

Disappointed with Henry's this year. I always do a catering order and this years setup was the worst. I was in line for over 30 minutes waiting to pick up my food with the rest of the people. When I was given a pickup time. My food should have been waiting in the window!! It was chaotic and badly organized this year. Unfortunately, I won't be back. Parking was just ridiculous . Bye Henry's .

I've been thinking about visiting this place for some time now, and I finally made it the other day. The customer service was outstanding! Everyone in there was so nice, and the employee who took my order did a great job selling and upselling their food!
I got fried whiting and fried catfish with potato salad and string beans.
Fish: catfish was really good! Great seasoning and breading, although if you don't like thick breading don't get it. The whiting was mushy.... I'm not sure why and I don't want to think about it.
