Amazing food! We had octopus, plantain, and the del sur parrilada. The Caipirinha maracuja was the best we had in usa!
Only minus: cold - everything someone opened the door it was freezing. A simple curtain after the door would take care of this. And there is no need to check every minute if we want a box. If customers say we are working on it, give them a moment!

Great food and service. I also liked the decor. We had two appetizers and a main between the two of us and it was plenty of food. We ordered the octopus and the garlic shrimp for appetizers and the pork chops for the main. I'm giving it 4 stars because we thought the shrimp was average. It needed more garlic and pepper flakes. Also, the shrimp was on the over cooked side. The other two dishes were excellent.

Wow, it’s hard to believe that there is such a place in the USA! Overall best restaurant experience for me in this country! If I could leave 6 stars I definitely would!
We will go there tomorrow again because it is going to be our last day in Washington but so far I strongly recommend to start with Grilled octopus (Pulpo) as appetiser and then go straight to Del Sur Parilla (it is BBQ plate with huge meat variety some of which you probably never tried before. Like blood sausage or cow neck meat. Be aware though, that this is a huge portion for no less than 3 people)
And huge thanks for warm

We went for dinner on a Wednesday night, so the restaurant wasn’t crowded at all. The staff was very attentive and friendly. But the food and the drinks.. STOOD OUT ON TOP. We had the red sangria and although it wasn’t mixed as strongly as we would have liked it was still tasty. We also tried the Caipirinha maracuyá and WOW, the flavors blended so well together.
For food, we had the tostones and beef empanadas. The mojo sauce that came with the tostones definitely added something special. For our main, we had the Del Sur Parilla which was a bbq platter and it was glorious! We had our meat

In a city as expensive as DC, it's almost unthinkable that you can still find a place as good as Del Sur Cafe and not shell out tasting menu or Michelin prices. Del Sur Cafe holds the distinction of 5 stars on Yelp and Google not because it's new to the block or only has 26 reviews (as of 3/18) but because it serves up South American cuisine to perfection. The classics like croquettes and gambas al ajillo punch above the weight class of dedicated tapas restaurants across New York, SF and DC. The drinks are strong, unique and of craft cocktail quality. There wasn't any aspect of the

Del Sur Café only opened three weeks ago but we were anxious to give it a try - and we were not disappointed! We visited during happy hour and wanted to try some of the cocktails and appetizers. The server was friendly and informative and helped us make our decisions while ordering.
On the happy house menu we tried the yuca fries, the empanada, the ceviche, and the arepa with queso fresco. I can't say enough good things about the ceviche. This is by far one of the best ceviche dishes I've had- the lime was perfectly balanced. It was probably my favorite thing we ordered. The empanada

I'd been waiting years for an Uruguayan-Argentine restaurant to pop on the DC scene, and lo and behold, here's a good-looking one with a diverse and authentic-sounding menu. (There's even a vegan selection of dishes!) As an Uruguayan myself, the chivito was always going to be the acid test for this place, and it did not disappoint. Tasted just like home, at a reasonable price point. 10/10 would recommend. Will come back to try their milanesas and grilled meats.
