Dos Gringos is in the heart of Mt Pleasant, a neighborhood with a small town vibe in Northwest Washington, D.C. Our guests run the gamut, from neighborhood old timers to new arrivals and their visiting friends and family, teachers, area workers, and everyone in between. We love our community and its diversity.
Services
For many it's about weekend breakfast, but for those who have no time or desire to cook we can provide breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as any hot drinks and snack breaks in between. We host Intercambios every Saturday from 6 - 9pm. These are language exchanges where international students and speakers have an opportunity to get together and help each other practice and improve their language skills.

Friendly neighborhood cafe with lots of delicious, nutritious breakfast options that will power you up with tons of energy to get through your morning! I came with some friends while visiting DC and we walked an intense number of steps schlepping around afterward so thank you Dos Gringos for the fuel.
We had some daily special stuff, some breakfast tacos, some breakfast enchiladas...some smoothies, some coffee. Everything here is very reasonably priced, food is fast to come out, and the outdoor seating is plentiful and pleasant. The folks running the place are also very warm and personable. And

Great neighborhood cafe for cheap eats. Keep in mind that this is a no-frills type of place, the price is right and the staff is friendly. The space is inclusive to all and non-pretentious - something rare!
Best off-menu item is the Dos Gringos bagel (capers, onions, avocado, tomatoes and cream cheese on a bagel).

A good cafe. Dos Gringos is street Mexican and more style food. It has a very casual feel inside. Good flavors. They're vegan friendly as well.
Has a good variety of food. It may be Mexican owned, but there's lots to choose from. They have many vegan friendly items. A good one is the Hummus Kale And Beet Sandwich. It's $5 and comes filled with these. They have vegan desserts too. A good one is the brownie. This isn't bland like many vegan desserts can be like.

The food here is amazing! Fresh, homemade, beautifully seasoned, so delicious. The bean mash, wow!! Mostly vegetarian and some vegan options. The staff are very friendly and they are clear about people keeping their distance when ordering, which I appreciated. Prices are affordable. Vibe low key and sort of funky. If this was my local cafe I would be here every day!

Positive: Quality, Value
A wonderful part of the Mount Pleasant neighborhood. The food is simple, fresh, and delicious. The coffee is great, and everything is reasonably priced. The owner and her team are also unfailing, genuinely friendly. Whether stopping in for a quick coffee or an extended lunch, every trip to Dos Gringos is a pleasure!

I go to Dos Gringos as a treat to myself on my days off from work! They are very covid safe, so don't let that stop you from going. I usually get coffee and a pastry but today got the lentil breakfast burritto and will definitely be ordering it again! It is SO DELICIOUS! Very flavorful and filling. I feel lucky to have this place in my neighborhood!

Love this place -- coffee is great, staff is gruff but friendly, the place is eclectic and cozy with tons of local, neighborhood charm, there's a nice outdoor patio to sit for a while, the food is unique and has lots of healthy options. Definitely not anything fancy, but casual and homey. Also, the location is convenient to Columbia Heights and right across from the Pan American laundromat, so every time a cat accidentally pees on my comforter, the situation is made less bad by the fact I know I have an excuse to come here while I wait on the wash. I can usually find (paid) street parking

A true Mt. P staple!
Dos Gringos can be easily overlooked, but honestly it's such a good option in the neighborhood. The food, as others have said, is simple and fresh. Nothing is overworked or fancy, just straight to the point. The staff is lovely. The owner lives in the neighborhood and has for many many years. We lived in Mt. P for a few years before ever coming here, and honestly, mistake! I wandered in one day, craving not sure what, and was so pleasantly surprised by their menu and daily specials. I had a fruit smoothie, much like one you'd make at home, nothing with boosts or

Love this place! Have become a regular since moving to the neighborhood, sometimes even visiting more than once on a weekend day. The food is simple but always good and everyone who works here is a sweetheart. The make a good effort at being bilingual and offer Spanish-language conversation groups on Saturday night. I like the blend of being able to have a long leisurely meal with a friend and the convenience of getting a dollar coffee on the patio weekday mornings and a bagged lunch when I'm tight on time. Very vegetarian friendly.

Interesting food like today's special of sweet potato and spinach taco w beans! I had the green salad and added roasted turkey. Prices are excellent. Seating is eclectic. Folks are friendly, casual, and bilingual. Service is slow and awkward. My salad had rotten greens. Not sure I'd come back- but it was cool to sit outside in the darling neighborhood.

It's a strange little cafe inside of an older row house with recycled furniture and a run down interior. The meals are simple and things you can easily replicate at home with a loaf of wonder bread and a slice of sargento. The prices are affordable at about $7-9 for a sandwich. The staff is a little gruff, but professional. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, but a good option if you're in the neighborhood and want some quick nourishment.

I love Dos Gringos! The food is always pretty tasty, they have inventive specials, and it feels like a true community spot. You will always feel welcome there, and the outdoor seating is great for people watching. I also love that it's way more affordable than other places in the city.
Sometimes food gets overcooked, which is why I knocked it down a star, but I always enjoy what I get there, it's always warm and filling, and the portions are generous. It's a Mt. Pleasant must!

Normally I rate a restaurant on the food alone, but in this case that's not true because Dos Gringos is more than a restaurant. It is homey, low key, and truly welcoming of everyone. If you want gourmet meals, this is not the place for you.
But, if you want
- a veggie- and vegan-friendly menu
- wholesome, hearty, simple, and affordable food;
- an unpretentious environment;
- a place that is welcoming of all people as clients, staff, and guests (a true rarity in a rapidly gentrifying city and neighborhood);
