Villa Mexico Cafe
Upcoming events, days off, or early closures due to food running out are posted on all of our social media channels. Please follow us!. Julie King is the founder and owner of Villa Mexico Cafe. Known as the (in)famous "Momma King, " she's been a mentor, an adoptive mom, a nagger, and a local food industry personality that adores cooking and sharing good food with her friends (customers).

The restaurant is not a business, it is part of her home, and when you visit you get it all- good, bad, happy or sad. Villa Mexico Cafe is an immigrant-women-family-owned restaurant that's operated for 20 years- and counting. Founded by a Mexican missing her food, the restaurant's mission is to bring authentic Mexican food and culture to the people of New England as one of the first authentic Mexican restaurants in Massachusetts.
Services
Whether it is an office lunch for 10 or a wedding for 200, a school lesson or private cooking, Villa Mexico Cafe can fulfill all of your catering needs. We can provide customized menus depending on your dietary needs, budget and event type, and work with nonprofits or charities as well. For menus, availability, pricing or more information, please contact us.
Our salsa comes in one "heat level." You'll notice the spiciness moves to the back of your mouth so that you can continue eating your food as the heat builds up with each bite. Tasty and addicting, just as you'd have in Mexico. If you've fallen in love with our unique black salsa, you can order it online!
Well, we are Mexicans cooking Mexican food. We were born and raised in Mexico and our family is from Puebla, so we know what our food should look and taste like- and how to cook it. While we appreciate that many people love our country's food, the popularity of Mexican cuisine has almost made it a fad.

Best burritto I had in 2019 when I was in Boston. Good service, great food. Am back in Boston again, but sad to see they are closed due to a personal matter. Hopefully everything will soon be better again, and I will wait till you open again. All the best!!

I work a stone throw away. Been here multiple times over the years. Do yourself the favor and head around the corner to Sabrosito if you're in the mood for Mexican. The owner is cut throat. Will bleed you for every dollar. Ordered a burrito with no meat on it for a friend. Just rice and beans. $13 and change. An extra tablespoon of sour cream...additional dollar. Not to mention its the same price as a meat burrito. The time before this I ordered a burrito for myself... I can't eat beans. I get it. My problem. I asked for no beans and asked if they could throw a little extra

Hands down the best Burritos in the Boston area. When I worked down here, I used to come here for lunch often. Drove into town for an appointment today, brought some burritos home and now the family wants to send me downtown every day to get some for dinner.

I’ve been very excited to try this spot in my new neighborhood and on my first visit I was met with incredibly rude and unnecessarily aggressive counter service. I wish I hadn’t supported this business and no matter how good the tacos are, I will not be returning.

I absolutely adore this place - I can easily say that from all the mexican food I have tried in Boston, this is the best! If they were open until Dinner time I would be sooo happy! I order food there almost every week and I have never been disappointed! All your salsas, guac, burritos, quesedillas are amazing! I have tried so much from their menu, because all of them is too good!!!
Love the owner as well, such a nice lady and so glad that everything is working out for them! I have read about your history, just because I found the food so fascinating and I know this cafe has come a long way until

Ordered a burrito bowl and I got a burrito with no tomatoes or salsa. It was awful. Huge waste of money.

This spot is cute, and the cashier is very friendly. It has a family feel. However, the food was not so great. We had the chicken quesadilla and pork tamales. Both were dry and pretty flavorless. It was not worth the calories. Wouldn't recommend.

Hands down the best Mexican food I've had in Boston. I can't remember the last time I was compelled to write a review but this stuff is just that good.

I'm baffled by the low reviews. Everyone who works there is so nice, and it's obvious there's a great deal of pride and love in every dish they serve.

I accidentally showed up after hours one afternoon and was served some incredible stuffed peppers and an "experimental sauce" made with grilled poblanos. They were working on the sauce to use for the special the following week, and let me tell you, it was divine

A fantastic mother/daughter run operation. Who knew how much hospitality could exist at a burrito shop? Rightfully famous for their unique black salsa. Great food and great people.

Boston is not known for its Mexican food, but Villa Mexico is an exception to that!

This is the place to go for real deal delicious Mexican food in the city. Everything I've had here is fantastic, and the portions leave you stuffed. More specifically, the homemade hot salsa is out of this world, I would put it on anything.

The only thing better than the food is the service. Every member of the staff is incredibly kind and welcoming, and it is always a pleasure to visit here.

Please do yourself a favor and skip the chains, and come to this family run business for the best Mexican food and

My office got catering from here for our Holiday Party two years in a row. Consistently excellent. Did a fun and tasty taco bar and quesadillas. Everyone raved.

Delivered right on time and our building is a pain to get in. And were very pleasant.

Price is about right for the product on the surface. BUT the quality is so high and the quantity was great. So I still feel like it was actually an excellent value.

Ordered the "Burrito with the works" with "mole poblano chicken" and "spicy" heat level. Pretty good. I especially love the grilled tortilla! Thats pretty rare especially for a lunch burrito. I would go again, but would try a different protein; the chicken was finely shredded, and I don't like that. Additionally, the heat level was present but rather mild so keep that in mind.

I'm also happy to say that I emerged without being scolded, which I was genuinely anxious about from reading the recent spate of reviews. Hopefully that experience continues.

2 stars are for the food because it was pretty good. However, the service was awful. I waited beside a sweet lady who had a large order that she called ahead for and it wasn't even started when she showed up. I proceeded to watch in awe as large lunch rush of 20-30 people showed up, placed their orders, and received it before she did. Absolutely ridiculous!! I even noticed the employees were cursing her in Spanish and overcharging her for chips & guac. Her order was well over $100 and she was visibly upset.
I overheard other individuals requesting changes like no cheese or beans and the

I work directly across the street from this place so I go there, on average, once a week, so I know what my food is supposed to taste like. Instead of just accepting that they gave me the wrong burrito, the rude old lady started to argue with me that I don't know what I just took a bite out of. The bottom line is that I asked for mild mole, this was so spicy, my mouth is still burning 10 minutes later. The guy after me ordered one extra spicy and they mixed it up - it wouldn't have been a big deal, had they just taken ownership of the situation. Being "right" was more important

Very average food. The quac isn't very good, but the burrito as a whole was pretty decent. My wife had the fajitas (edit: she had tamales) as she wasn't a fan. It tasted dry. The atmosphere is cool and the service is quick, but blunt. It was a VERY average joint.

Work downtown and craving a burrito? This is where you should end up.

Order through the Ritual app, and you too could be sticking your face in a massive burrito in just 15-20 minutes.

I ordered my chicken mole burrito spicy with all the fixin's (white rice, black beans, cheese) for $8.99. After getting wrapped, the burritos are grilled, so the tortillas are nice and toasty. Absolutely love this! Mole isn't a standard option at Mexican places in Boston, so huge props for this.

There was a line to order when I arrived, but since I ordered through the Ritual app, I could just go straight

Authentic, and hits the spot whenever I crave food from my sojourn in Mexico. Corn tortillas, mole, napal, hibiscus water...all signs of the real deal. Good prices, too. Can't wait to come back for the taco Tuesday deal.

On May 4th, in the spirit of Cinco de Mayo, two friends and I went to Villa Mexico for lunch. It was my first time there.
It was *awesome*. The staff, particularly Momma King's daughter, were visibly stressed; I imagine that this is a *particularly busy* day for them, and the daughter was atypically snapping at the staff and customers. I just stayed out of the way and enjoyed the show. When I made eye contact with some of the cooks, we'd just grin.
We arrived at about 11:45, beating most of the rush, although there were about eight people waiting for their orders.

Excellent burrito for lunch today from Villa Mexico. It's easy enough to order here and while it's not the same assembly line that you might see at a certain other chain burrito place, it's more deliciouser.

I had a chicken burrito, spicy, add sour cream and add guacamole. What I unwrapped from the foil was simply tasty and filling and very yummy.

It is a very small restaurant, so I took my burrito to go.

This four-star review has three items on its agenda.

Number 1 - The Food. I'd say generally adequate food quality. Portion sizes vary by menu item. A burrito here has the girth of young melon. You will be left comatose for the entire afternoon. The tacos, however, come in pairs and are hardly filling. I would recommend not getting the fish tacos, which are dry and could use more lime.

Number 2 - The Service. Friendly, quick service here. Especially from "Mama King", the owner who commands the kitchen from her perch behind the register. As an A.R.M. (Assistant Regional Manager

It sure is a great time to be working in the Financial District of Boston area if you like Mexican food. Steadily, we've been getting more options for burritos and tacos and mexican lunch options, and Villa Mexico Cafe is one of the latest to join the fray, and is in my opinion the most authentic of the bunch. Owned by the very friendly "little mexican woman" with a long history of mexican restaurants, the food here is high quality and have good portion sizes. Its the only burrito place in Boston that i've been to that has a Mole Poblano burrito, a sweet and spicy chocolate
