Originally from Lebanon and Venezuela, Tony and Mary thought that it was fascinating to be in the city and had long dreamed of owning a cafe in Boston's downtown financial district. The couple has always had a passion for great food. Mary learned to prepare meals with her parents while growing up. She has translated her love of cooking into many of the delicious dishes on their menu today.
Mary and Tony, the official taste tester, pride themselves on preparing tasty meals from scratch each day using only fresh ingredients. Touted by some as one of the best cafes in Boston, Scali also offers both lunch and breakfast catering in Boston's financial district and the greater Boston area.

Stopped for a quick meal before hitting the road leaving town. got a breakfast sandwich and she got a turkey club. we shared home fries. everything was fresh and tasty. certainly hit the spot. the club was big! nice big variety in the drink cooler and plenty of condiments near the counter. had my favorite hot sauce. would certainly come back!

This place is great! Just a perfect local Boston business. The owner couldn't be nicer and it makes me want to come back every time. I never leave reviews, but the constant friendliness is hard to come by nowadays. The food is good! It's a local little deli / cafe with very reasonably priced food so don't expect anything crazy.

Would give zero stars if I could. I went in and asked for a gluten free sandwich, which seemed to annoy the gentleman behind the counter. He tried to talk me out of it, as if I have a choice. He then proceeded to take the tiny gluten free slices of bread and slap them down on the counter, right where they prepare every other sandwich. No cleaning, no gloves, nothing. Then he handed me the sandwich and walked away, not even giving me the chance to say anything. Do NOT recommend for anyone with any sort of allergies, they do not care.

This is a downtown Boston staple for both laborers and office folks, the owner and staff always greet you with great hospitality and the food is good and made to order the way you like. I wouldn't count on them to have homemade bread or the worlds best bagels but def quality, quick, breakfast and lunch. They randomly serve ice cream too which is great for a summer afternoon treat or to just get a quick iced coffee. I also love their new design!! It's looking great and so much more inviting in there.

A very solid place for lunch.
So far, I've tried about a dozen items from here. All have been very good. Won't blow your mind, but very good. My favorite is the steak bomb. Classic shaved steak on a soft roll. Comes how you want it. A little pricy at 10 and change, but tasty.
The service was super fast, but it was a dead Monday.
The folks working were super nice and courteous.
I see they have breakfast. Seeing as they do well with lunch, breakfast should be great some tIme.

The sandwiches are fairly well sized for hearty appetites, but they are also a bit expensive given the quality of the ingredients. The soft Italian seeded bread is a good start. I tried The Big Poppi, which is pastrami with cheese and bacon. The good news is the amount of pastrami was generous, but the cheese, bacon, and mustard was barely noticeable. The "pastrami" seemed more like thin sliced corned beef as it lacked pastrami seasoning. And it was dry. I wouldn't order this sandwich again.

Scali has breakfast and coffee items available to go and also has tables for dine in. They are able to crank out a lot of menu items in a short amount of time, so it's fine in a pinch. Seems like a popular place with plenty of regulars coming in from nearby worksites. Pancakes were a bit soggy and so my son wouldn't eat them which is hard to do. But the breakfast roll sandwich options were decent and the ingredients were for the most part fresh. Good value and good selection. Accommodating and courteous staff. Would return, would recommend the sandwich items.

Great hungover food. Yummy, fast, and cheap. Staff is friendly and helpful. Lots of options and each meal comes with a lot of food.
I got the veggie omelet (came with potatoes and toast)- potatoes were fire, the toast was toast (not in a bad way, just normal toast), and the omelette was pretty good but the vegetables could've been cooked longer and the cheese was liquidy (not gooey). Also, didn't appreciate their use of plastic silverware and styrofoam plates for dine in orders, especially in a city like Boston that is trying to discourage plastic waste.

After a long day of flights and travel without food, we were dying for some breakfast. Unfortunately, it was noon local time, and no one was serving breakfast anymore!
This place came through for us. Thick pancakes, bacon that didn't seem really fatty or greasy but was perfectly crispy, a huge plate of home fries--ten bucks! Friendly service.

I usually get my breakfast at one of the local coffee places but today I wanted something a bit more substantial served on a plate. It turned out to be Scali Cafe today.
Order at the counter, wait for your food, then pay for it at the register. Easy enough. I opted for a ham and cheese omelet and it took a bit to be prepared since it's all done fresh and to order.
Very good portion that was tasty and nicely done. A great breakfast that I thoroughly enjoyed.
