Tanis Vineyards Winery
Tanis is one of the smallest Amador County Wineries in Amador Wine Country with a minimal 800 case per year production. Joining TANIS Wine Club ensures you will receive at least one bottle of each of our highest demand varietals released each year. Request our newsletter to stay informed and receive emails regarding happenings at the winery and our latest releases.

Vines that endure harsh conditions produce exceptional wine, much as life's hardships produce character and strength. TANIS Vineyards is more than the number of bottles we can produce in a given year, and discovering us is more about sharing a state of heart and mind than simply finding your way to our little tasting room in the Amador Foothills.
Services
I would describe TANIS wine as consistently dramatic and plush with a variety of concentrated fruit flavors. Complex and layered, our wines are often spicy with just the right amount of oak. When tasting our bold red varietals you can expect a rich and intense experience. Our white wines are dry, crisp and refreshing.
When you join TANIS Wine Club you can be sure of receiving at least one bottle of each of our highest demand varietals that come out each year. Members receive 3 releases per year (March, July, November) with 4 bottles of red wine in each release at 15% off retail, not including shipping. TANIS Wine Club includes only red wine.
After some incredible experiences with winemaking and the encouragement of those around us, we began commercial production with our 2005 vintage. What an extraordinary year! Since 2005 we have maintained an 800+ case per year production. We work very hard, but strive to keep our relationships and family a distinct priority.
Take CA-49 N/CA-88 W. Continue on CA-88 W. Turn RIGHT onto CA-104 W toward Ione. Turn LEFT onto E Main Street in Ione. Turn RIGHT onto Preston Ave. Turn RIGHT onto CA-124 toward Plymouth. Turn LEFT on Willow Creek Road. TANIS Vineyards Winery comes up quickly on the RIGHT hand side. Take Hwy 50 E toward Sunrise Blvd.

They are delightful! We stopped by in a Thursday and called from the parking lots as it’s by apt only. The wines are really good too!

My wife and I went to Tanis Winery today and were pleasantly surprised by the warm hospitality of our host and winery owner Andrew. Not only was he welcoming, kind and courteous, he was also knowledgeable of the area, and why shouldn't he be as he has been there more than a decade.

This is a secret hideaway and the secret spot you always dream of when looking for that quiet cozy "getaway from it all" winery. It's a tiny gem in a small town where, if you blink, you'll miss it...Don't blink!

Do yourselves a favor and stop at this winery, sit down on Andrew's front

The best experience wine tasting ever. It was the atmosphere, knowledge, understanding, and once in a lifetime flavor of some of the best wines I have ever experienced. Highly recommend and be prepared for the incredible ambience and variety that is Tanis...

Lovely boutique winery that's worth going out of your way to visit. Andrew was engaging, winsome and expressive in talking about his wines. I had the good fortune to be the only person in the tasting room at the time, so I learned a lot about his wines. More importantly, every single wine I had, from the top to the bottom of the list was excellent. Each varietal presented itself well with great balance and smoothness.

Whether you like bubbly, whites, or reds (all three for me!), you cannot go wrong here.

Tanis Winery is a hidden gem among the many wineries in the Amador hills. Yesterday was our first visit to Tanis, amidst a week-end of visits to our favorite wineries surrounding Plymouth. What a pleasant surprise!
These are easily some of the best wines we bought over the three days. Full-bodied reds with distinct tastes and aromas. Put Andrew's place, the owner, on your list of stops! We will be back again!

One of the owners and wine maker, Andrew, was our server. He was obviously very knowledgeable about the wines. Some unusual varietals including mission (which we had not heard of), sangiovese, tempranillo and petite sirah. The winery offered a chocolate pairing for the reds. Meatballs, olive oil tasting and wine. Fun experience. The wines were enjoyable. Well worth a stop.

Excellent wine and they always seem to have meatballs out and olive oils to try. Lots of sauces to browse for purchase and art. Friendly service. Well worth the drive!

Tanis is a hidden gem in the Amador hills. It is off the beaten track, but it was well, well worth the slight detour. We have our favorite wineries in the Shenandoah Valley, and Andrew's, the owner, wines stand in with the best of them and, for my palate, are outstanding; full-bodied reds with soft tannins and distinctive tastes and aromas for each varietal. Vintages are 4 - 5 years old, meaning aged in the barrel as well in the bottle! We are pretty fussy about our wines and Tanis will be a regular stop whenever we visit Amador now!

We were blown away by Tanis wines at Big Crush event. All wines were great. BBQ meatball snacks are great when tasting their red wines. This winery is a jewel of Amador County.

Simply amazing wine in a tasting room nestled off the beaten path, yet far & away worth the extra trip. Andrew will pour through your tasting while conversing with you, and never make you feel rushed. He enjoys obtaining some less common /less available grape varietals and the resulting wines are unique and not to be missed. Just yesterday I tasted his brand new 2013 Sangiovese & loved it. I then went to another tasting room, and compared to the Tanis Sangiovese, it was a distant second. Last time I was there, I purchased 2 bottles that were limited & not something I usually see, and

Super friendly and efficient wine maker made host, in this converted garage that is a lovely wine tasting room.

Good job in producing a number of excellent whites. The malvasia was exceptional, good sauvignon.

You might love the reds which are all super big and full of lots of tannins. Interesting and rich merlot.

I bought the Syrah which to me was the most complex. Very powerful wines which is what attracts folks.

Put it on your list.

Tanis is the type of place you are hesitant to write a public review about -- on one hand you want the whole world to know about how wonderful they are and see them prosper, but on the other - you want to keep them for yourself! Life is too short to keep secrets like this so if you are ever in Amador County - do not miss Tanis. Great boutique winery with great people behind it.

Tanis is a very unique wine experience. Andrew and his family started their winery in their garage with a cramped tasting bar squeezed in front of all the aging barrels. Over the years, the tasting room has taken over with lots of room while keeping the same intimate wine experience.

Most of the grapes are grown off-site at various vineyards in Amador County. Tanis buys their product and creates the wine. There are no wide expanses of vineyards off the tasting room deck, and the place is definitely off the beaten path. Most Amador wineries are in the Shenandoah Valley, but Tanis is almost near

Sampling at several other vineyards, I thought my taste buds must've been off. Thin and acidic seemed to be the mantra of the day. Then we tried Tanis' Syrah and found what we expected: full-bodied & jammy. We had a bottle with our steak dinner that night and our first impressions were re-affirmed. Gotta go back and pick up a few more bottles to take home with us!

4/27 Update: went back for a second visit and picked up some more wine. They were even better than we remembered.

Storytime w/ some vino...

Andrew, the owner (husband & wife duo) is as passionate as they come. From the moment we walked into his small tasting room, he was already pouring our 8 glasses for tastings. He greeted us all with a warm smile and great demeanor.

This guy has stories for days. A story about the label. A marriage proposal. A lost wedding ring. Poison Oak. Teaching his son about responsibility at 8 years old. All of which were heartwarming and gave this smaller winery a hint of family and local flavor.

I am by no means a wine connoisseur. Especially when I am participating in a
