Start the ride from the front door of the "legendary" North of the Border Bike Shop. Ride a Norco Torrent 27.5 plus mountain bike and explore Los Penasquitos Canyon, an easy to navigate, coastal sage scrubecosystem. There are easy fireroads or technical singletrack, so you can pick your poison. Discover a waterfall, a duck pond and diverse wildlife which can include redtail hawks, deer, coyotes, roadrunners and if you are lucky a bobcat.

I'm heading on a 10 thousand mile trip across Eurasia and the folks over at NB bikes were absolutely amazing! They happened to have in stock a Salsa warbird in my size and were savvy on not just mountain bikes but also gravel bikes and bikebacking. 6/5 love supporting a business like this, truly passionate of the hobby, not passionate about selling for the sake of selling.

Did a rental through here and it was a great experience. Super helpful staff with good insight on the surrounding trail network. You can pretty much make your ride as technical or tame as you like and the rental bike is well equipped to handle the local terrain. Didn't buy anything but the shop was well stocked with quality gear as well. Wouldn't hesitate to bring my bike here if I lived in the area.

This is an amazing bike shop! They treat you like family and make you feel welcomed, even when they're busy it feels like a one on one experience and I always enjoy visiting! If I ever have an issue they welcome me right in and get my bike fixed! Whether on the road or in the canyon near by I would not hesitate to stop in and give the "toughest little bike shop in San Diego" a look. It might be tiny but they have always had what I need to keep me going, as well as all the bells and whistles!

Hands down the only place I will ever go to buy a bike, get my current serviced or buy any gear. I can't say enough about this shop, Mike & Doug! These guys are top notch, and after frequenting a bunch of the shops around San Diego throughout the years these guys really stand out. They're passionate about what they do and it shows. Spending what I would consider a large sum of money on a bike I really feel confident in saying that these guys actually cared that I was getting something I was going to be happy with and not just looking to make a sale.

Doug and Mike have been working on my (old) bike for years. Needless to say when it was time for a new one it had to be through them. Patience patience patience, it took me 2 months and countless visits before I pulled the trigger. Never did I feel pressured or obligated to go to the next build up. They sold me exactly what I wanted - I couldn’t be happier. They don’t have the mountains of inventory like other shops but what they do have is quality products, great attitudes and a passion about what they do.
