Dr. Sunga established Dumont Eye Care in the Presidents' Square Mall at the corner of Washington Ave. Originally from Bergenfield, NJ, Dr. Sunga began his journey to optometry at Gannon University, Pennsylvania where he received his Bachelor's degree.
He then obtained his degree as Doctor of Optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry and was awarded Clinical Excellence in the Pediatric Internship of the Mr. and Mrs. Thomas P. Lynch Pediatric Unit.In 2007, Dr. Sunga established Dumont Eye Care and immediately became one of the most loved optometrists in the area.

When you come for your appointment, we make sure to schedule ample time so you will never feel rushed. Our office provides complete eye care for both adults and children. During your comprehensive eye health evaluation your eyes will be checked for any potential eye disorders or diseases. Your visual skills and abilities are carefully evaluated and appropriate treatment is prescribed, whether it's medication, lenses, or vision therapy.

Dr. Sunga provides contact lens evaluations for soft contact lenses, including spherical, toric, and presbyopia lenses. Our office also provides specialty lenses to meet all our patient's needs. We offer the newest contact lens technology called Duette contact lenses. It is a hybrid contact lens, combining the clear crisp image of a hard lens in the center and the comfort of a soft lens on the edges.
Glaucoma is an eye disease that causes damage to the ocular nerve head, the part of the nerve that transmits visual images to your brain where they can be "interpreted." Most types of glaucoma involve a significant increase in the pressure inside of your eye, also called your intraocular pressure or IOP, but some people can be affected even by IOPs that are only slightly above normal.

I went to Dumont Eye Care Center for the first time. The employees do everything possible to provide expert courteous service. They are extremely professional and I recommend them to everyone. I also had an eye exam by their optometrist., Dr. Sunga. He spent a lot of time making sure that my new prescription would be the best for me. He put me first. I really appreciated it!

I've been going to Dr. Sunga for the past 9 years and they have taken good care of me since then. The staff are extremely freondle and helpful and are always there to answer every question I have. I also like that their phone line is not automated and that I can speak to someone as soon as someone can pick up the phone (pretty rare to find among other Dr. Offices). They also do adjustments to your eyeglasses for free. Mine kept falling off my face and they fixed the hooks free of charge! Besides eyeglasses they also help with contact fitting and they supply them as well. They have a wide selection

I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with this office. The front desk staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and the doctor is excellent. His check-ups are comprehensive and he even noticed my contact prescription was too strong and changed it and now not only is my vision better but it helped with my headaches as well. HIGHLY recommend this office for your vision care

The doctor is courteous and spends typical time to evaluate and complete his examination. If you are getting fitted for lenses, beware!!! The doctor may have good intentions, but his staff are terribly disorganized, discombobulated, make big mistakes with giving you wrong trial lenses time and again, and waste your time. One of the receptionist is a big bully, very rude, and ignorant. She is obnoxious, opinionated, a liar, and all around unprofessional! Don’t waste your time going to this practice unless office management and/or staff is changed!

In all fairness I didn't see the dr, I didnt get past the obnoxious receptionist let me be clear the guy was very nice he was just helping someone the lady was horrible. She come over asks my name I tell her she then says oh your an hour early I was 40 mins early thinking a new Dr I would have to fill out paperwork she then proceeds to tell me I wont be takin in at my appt time (by the way i made the appt 5 weeks ago) because of the rain I said what do you mean what does rain have to do with an eye exam? She then continues to give me an attitude so I left made an appoint at american choice in Garfield

Always making sure you're completely satisfied with their service. They really take the time out to inform you on your best options. Have been coming to Dr. Sunga since he first opened and I am glad to see his business expanding to a larger spot on Grant Avenue. This is clearly because of the excellent level of customer service he and his staff give patients/customers.
For those with children, we've been bringing our twins since they were 5 and never were frightened by the experience. In fact, Dr. Sunga made them feel so comfortable that they looked forward to getting their eyes checked.

We've had exceptional experiences using Dumont Eye Care for routine eye exams & filling glasses prescriptions. The staff are very professional, friendly, helpful, and proactive (figuring out who our new insurance provider was before I even got to the front desk after my exam - meanwhile I had no idea we'd even been switched). The exams seem thorough yet efficient, and the doctor and assistants are very patient with answering questions or helping find just the right pair of glasses. A very positive experience, highly recommend.

What a lovely, friendly staff they have at Dumont Eyecare everyone was so pleasant from the front desk to The time we got to meet Dr. Sunga he was amazing to my 12 year old daughter so friendly, kind and professional to us, I will definitely keep coming back with her and also I will start to come myself, it was a great visit, thank you so much everyone.
