When Rob retired from Parnell in 2017, after three weeks Kate said Rob needed a hobby or a new job, he set about developing the concept BANKSIA that you see today. They both have a deep love for food and have spent the last 20 years traveling, often flying half-way around the world to try a new restaurant.

This was on our bakery to try list, They have 2 locations and we selected the Plaza South to try as we were in route to the Nelson.
We went for a late breakfast. Easy parking right out front. The bakery case was still pretty full thankfully.
All 3 of enjoyed our selections and they have a fabulous tea selection! Which each of us had a selection from. Plenty of seating and I love all the real planters along the walls!
Reasonable pricing as well!

I love this place so much. The atmosphere, the food, just great! They have a lot of food options like I personally like and many are healthy options.
I thought it was pretty easy to find this place and if you want to park somewhere, the parking garage will lead you straight to the floor Banksia is on.
My favorites are their Moroccan salad and pavlova cake. Omg that Moroccan salad has all the stuff I like and I crave that salad a lil too much. The only thing that keeps me under control is I don't live nearby and even if I'm free, it's too close to their closing time so I don&apos

Loved the options on the menu. I tried the veggie sandwich and the fig and honey tart. The sandwich was okay. I was expecting all these yummy veggies but it was just mainly a ton of tough sweet potatoes. Fairly dry as well. Though I wasn't super excited about how my sandwich turned out, I am excited to go back and try some of their other menu items. Service was quick which I appreciated. Hopefully my next time back can turn this review to 5 stars.

This has quickly become a favorite spot of ours. On several trips to KC we have enjoyed this restaurant and NEVER been disappointed. From the great service to the amazing and friendly staff to the delicious… food and the pup friendly service - this restaurant will become one of your favorites too! Love the downtown location and thought I'd try this one out too! The space is beautiful and the hanging plant wall is so lovely to look at! Staff is friendly and personable. I should have stuck to my favorite, the Salad Niçoise (which is utterly amazing here) but instead I opted for the Bánh Mi. It was just meh to me and more like a chicken sandwich on a soft hoagie. I'll order my special Bánh Mi from the Vietnamese place like I normally do and stick with my favorite salad here. It's pretty hard to beat!

While celebrating our 8 year anniversary, the wife and I discovered this charming Australian bakery & cafe located in the Library District of KC. The Pavlova is to die for!!! Just do yourself a favor and order it... Such a delightful selection of baked items, and the cappuccino was spot on. Tasty tarts, scrumptious meat pies, and good coffee.

Although I had been to the original Banksia for coffee and sweets before, this was my first visit to the South Plaza location and my first time having a meal.
It was extremely tough to decide on my breakfast selection - lots of unique entrees that sound delicious. I went with the corn and zucchini fritters; which were wonderful and served in combination with delicious Australian style breakfast baked beans, a fried egg, two strips of perfectly cooked bacon, seared cherry tomatoes and several slices of avocado. Outstanding!

I used to live in Australia so I was excited to try some of my old faves like meat pies and flat whites. The pie was good. Bottom crust was a bit soggy but filling and top crust was good. $9 was a bit steep. The flat white was not good. Coffee was bitter, the milk didn't seem steamed enough. Was basically bitter coffee with milk.

Lovely atmosphere and lots of unique items on the menu, however I must say that my husband got the biscuits and gravy, and it was the BEST I have ever tasted. The. Best. When he finished his meal, I took it upon myself to scrape down his bowl for one last bite, it was that good. When we return I already know what I will be ordering. Only drawback was they seemed a little understaffed, but we didn't have to wait too long regardless.

I had heard so many good things about both locations of Banksia! I went on a walk at Loose Park then made my way over the the South Plaza location to get some breakfast. I got there just in the nick of time because I got the last table and after I ordered there was a long line. The case of pastries that is right when you enter, is filled with a range of beautiful and delicious looking sweets.
I had to get something and I finally decided to get a chocolate croissant. Then when it came to ordering breakfast I was stuck because everything on the menu sounded better than the next. I was watching

First time at the new location and did not disappoint. Came in to pickup breakfast and the place was very nice and clean.
I ordered the egg, sausage, and cheese biscuit sandwich with a side of potatoes. The potatoes were little cubes of delight! Got my wife the leek and gruyere quiche which she loved.
Do yourself a favor and try this place out for any meal of the day. It's all good!

This was an amazing, and unique, experience! Highly highly recommend this lovely restaurant! We tried the beef and cheese pie, the lamb and potatoe pie, spinach roll and a meat roll. All of these were incredible! The beef and cheese pie was my absolute favorite because of the flavors and texture! Super awesome atmosphere and friendly staff!

I think you should visit Banksia. I myself didn't have a great experience today, but I feel like it was an isolated incident. The menu here is really broad, offering breakfast and lunch. I wish the portions were a little heartier, so keep that in mind if you have a particularly large appetite. We came here for brunch and were looking forward to brunch cocktails which we'd seen pictured online, but there wasn't a menu we saw for this. After we took our seats in the second room, we did see a bar (unmanned). Not sure if we could have ordered cocktails, but we already purchased soft drinks. I had an

The pavlova was perfectly crispy on the bottom and creamy on top with fresh fruit.
The caramel square is one of my favorite things on the menu- and we got one to share. It's rich and buttery and just about the best thing ever. It met my high expectations again.
