Ibis Bakery
Ibis Bakery is two different micro-bakeries connected with excellent places to enjoy coffee. To learn more about our two distinctive bakery locations, go to our Lenexa and Crossroads pages. While on a very restrictive diet to help us feel better, we stumbled upon beautiful, crusty sourdough bread in San Francisco.

Already interested in food systems, we began to develop a passion for a repaired and transparent chain, starting with how and where food is grown and finishing with the eater. With backgrounds in business and teaching, in 2013 Chris began baking bread, and Kate began helping customers understand the difference between "real bread" and what they were used to finding at the grocery store.
Services
This is why at Ibis, we are commitmented to sourcing locally whenever we can. Forming relationships with local farmers and craftsmen deepens our respect for the relentless work they put into their craft and helps us to better appreciate where our food comes from. A family centered business that is committed to fairness to its suppliers, sustainability, minimal environmental impact and community enhancement.
Countless hours spent creating, testing, tasting and toasting have made our Lenexa location a place defined by the pursuit of excellence. Quickly jumping from concept to production, we began selling slices of toasted bread at Black Dog Coffeehouse just one week after teaching ourselves how to bake!
The space we share with Messenger Coffee Co has been our dream since the very beginning: bread and coffee, two daily staples, both done excellently, sourced carefully and enjoyed in tandem. At our 1624 Grand Blvd location, we endeavor to transparently share our work and the delicious results.

Both companies source responsibly, with Messenger's commitment to "above and beyond fair trade sourcing" and Ibis sourcing our ingredients overwhelmingly from the local economy. Here, our menu is grain-focused. The bread showcases the flavors and aromas achieved by baking with fresh-milled flour. You will find bread made with smoked, toasted, cooked and/or fermented grains.
Located in the long-time home of Fervere bakery, our Summit Street location provides customers the opportunity to shop a handcrafted selection of our artisan loaves and pastries while experiencing the casual warmth of the iconic Westside neighborhood. Fervere was started in 2000 by Fred Spompinato and was the first to introduce slowly fermented, European-style loaves to Kansas City.

Best bakery in middle part of America! I Ake bread and pastry at home, so I can tell they really love and try to make something special and different. Earl grey bun is full of flavor. The seasonal filling croissant, instead of cream cheese filling, which is the most common filling is America, is filled with lemon flavored custard. And Kouign aman, tastes kind of like the famous cronut of Dominique in NYC. Ciabatta is perfect, crispy skin and moisture inside. With those charming holes, it’s been rising for a long time. The service is also perfect and sweet. Will absolutely be back when I am in

Really terrific savory bakery. Best ham and cheese croissants that I've had in a long time, thanks to unexpected and subtle tastes of black sesame and mustard (on the ham). Their breads are great too - they have an apricot and apple bread that's perfect with cream cheese, and a popular smoked cheddar house bread that serves as a great base for sandwiches, tapas, or a snack.

If you're into savory baked goods, this is your place.

Unbelievably fresh, melt-in-your mouth delicious bread and pastries. Well worth the price. We were in town for the weekend and heard about this bakery from a friend who raved about it. We went out of our way to get there during a busy weekend and we were not disappointed. Service was quick, friendly, and accommodating. We wish this bakery would branch out to Minnesota but for now it's on our "do not miss" list any time we are in the area!

Rating on the food: 5/5. As my family and I travel the world, we always search for the best food. I would rate this one in the top 3 my husband and I have ever had. We will absolutely stop by again when we are in the area!
Plan to pick up and go. There are very few seats and the bathroom was clean and served it's purpose, but tiny and uninviting. There is not room to change a diaper in there and my toddler and I had to do a crazy little dance so that there was room for us to be in there together.

In the best way possible, this place is ridiculous. I felt like I had entered a time warp stepping into this quaint little shop. I'm not from KC, but love to visit, and I heard I had to try this place out. I had a chocolate crescent, I believe, and it was amazing. The orchard bread, however, is a must have - it is the best bread I have, and probably will, ever eat in my life!!

They have the best bread and the best staff ever! The cheese slipper is personally my favorite from the menu. It is definitely precious cargo. If you really want a specific item I would call a day or so before and place an order for pickup. They sell out very fast. If you don't pre-order I would recommend getting there as soon as they open.

For some stupid reason I have never been to Fervere Bakery, I'll blame it on the hours, only open 3 days per week and It's easy to miss since it's very small and a narrow storefront on Summit St. My 2 friends and I walked around the corner from Clay and Fire after a great breakfast to see about something sweet to eat and ended up splitting a Cheese Slipper loaf to go. I took mine home with the intention of having a slice as an appetizer before my dinner; yet 4 thick slices and 15 minutes later the entire 1/2 loaf was gone. I just couldn't stop!! The first 2 with butter and the

My husband is French. He loves this bread. I think that’s all you need to know. Or maybe you want to know our favorite- the Heirloom Polenta. Pastries are great too. They have limited hours, and supply (they sell out! Understandably)- so plan well, and maybe even call ahead.

Best bakery anywhere. From the loaves, like Grain Travel loaf which is Oh my God! so hearty, tasty, chunky, to the delicious Cranberry Walnut Pan Loaf, to the flaky, so almondy bear claw, the only way all bear claws should me made. Not to mention ever friendly and knowledgeable shop owners/staff, always answering all questions
5 star all around.❤

I decided to go here because my usual doughnut shop was closed. I got here at 10:30, and it’s very obvious why he was almost out of bread.
The cheese slipper is an absolute must - we couldn’t stop eating it at home! His base bread recipe is fantastically delicious! So of course adding cheese just made it that much better.
I also got the last pan of cinnamon rolls, and wow! They were moist all the way through and the flavor was amazing.
Lastly, a friendly smile and customer-centric attitude always tops things off. Fervere is now a staple for our family, so thanks so much for the amazing breads

Now isn't this the best gem you could ever discover in the Westside neighborhood! Hidden away behind the Blue Bird Bistro, this lovely store is a delight!

Locally owned and operated, Fervere is one of the loveliest discoveries in all of KC! Their breads are savory and so distinctive! THey have great little items to shop through and spices to mix for dipping sauces!

If you want a fun place to enjoy or better yet... a great place to show-off how wonderful our city is... check out Fervere. Worth every minute of your time and every dime you drop there!

When it comes to buying artisan breads, their hours are few but you'll love what they do.

If they aren't busy, you'll find the baker to be both kind and knowledgeable.

We may not be able to live on bread alone but I cannot leave Fervere breads alone.

This place is amazing! The ciabatta and croissants are to die for. Fruit bread is also delicious! (Not fruitcake)
The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. It’s not cheap, but considering the incredible quality I would still consider it a good value. You get what you pay for, after all.

Best. Bread. In. Town.

Seriously.

And they sell local cheese.

And they put out samples.

My only beef is that they're not next door to my house.

Fervere Is the kind of business that is a destinations. They're only open for a few hours on Thursday Friday and Saturday. Everything is made on site and in the European tradition. The biggest tip that I can give you is to call the night before and leave a message with your name and the type of bread that you would like to purchase. This will ensure that your bread is available for you the following day. There's nothing more disappointing than driving all the way there, like I did on Friday, only to have the guy in front of me by the last load of Cheese Slipper bread! But, I was in

Wow!! Just wow! Some of the best bread I've ever had, and I've traveled all over the world.

I loved the orchard bread, perfect for breakfast with Valencia peanut butter and sliced bananas, or toasted and topped with ricotta and honey.

The almond croissant was the best I've ever had, crunchy and filled with marzipan. I had mine with an almond milk green tea latte and savored every bite.

The cheese slipper was good but I was a bit disappointed that it only comes with an egg in the summer?? I also wish they made a smaller version since it's a lot of cheese bread to eat!

Happened across this "bubble" area of excellent shops and EXCELLENT!!! boutique bakery. The proprietor is personable and professional, and obviously at the top of his vocation. Supremely baked artisanal breads and pastries. The croissants were the best we've ever tasted - and that includes fresh croissants while in France. This shop, as well as the little intersection of shops, is well worth your time to seek out.

I really love bread from this bakery. It's a cute little shop that seeks breads, pastries and cheese yumm. I can't wait to try all their breads! Oh, I suggest you go early morning. Things sell out pretty quickly.

Hands down my favorite bread shop. Quaint and rustic. Reminds me of Europe. We call ahead our order any time we are driving thru. Cheese slipper and olive breads are our favorite. Tried two sweet baked goods from their new partnership. I would highly recommend the kouin amann: light, airy, sweet, crunchy.

AMAZING bread. The cheese slipper is one of their most popular ones, but they sell out fast and have limited hours so get here fast or order ahead. You really can't go wrong with any of the breads - they're fresh and made with ingredients you can actually pronounce, and you can taste the quality in every bite.
They also have yummy free samples of the different breads they baked that day!

This review is for cheese slipper Saturday.

Admittedly, I am a sucker for anything that involves food and a queue of people so dedicated to that offering they consistently wait in line for it like a group of eager geese waiting to be fed. The Fervere cheese slipper fits this category.
It's not quite the Franklin barbecue pandemonium that has people waiting up to six hours to be fed, but some folks do bring lawn chairs for the wait.
I tried 3 out of 4 of the cheese slippers they had on the menu. One involved peach, one had heirloom tomatoes and I can't remember precisely what was on
