Family owned shop. I had such an awesome experience here. They were so knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful. I purchased a bike rack, which they installed on the spot with gentleness and patience. They have a great choice of bikes also. Definitely a yes for the biker crew.

Great job adding a drop post to my mountain bike and replacing the grips and handlebars. Very knowledgeable bike repair technicians!

If I could, I would give them six stars. I bought a $200 mountain bike for my son. However, the front brake disc kept rubbing the caliber. I tried asking a bike store whose name ends with doctor, but was told that they don't diagnose or repair the bike at this price level at all. Last week, I wanted to give a last try so I went to wheelbase with the front wheel. I told a guy about my issue. He gave me a very reasonable quote before true my wheel. I went back with adjusted wheel, but found the issue was still there. Thus, today I brought the whole bike to their store. To be frank, I didn't expect

As someone who wanted to get into cycling after coming from Walmart Schwinn bikes I decided to go check this place out. I had received several rude comments from the younger gentleman who worked in the store with comments like do you know how to ride a bike or how to switch gears? Which as one who has ridden bikes all my life I feel proficient to both mount and change gears on a bike. After receiving these kind of off hand comments I would never patronize this place. I rather go somewhere where as a beginner to true cycling I can feel comfortable

Owner down to the mechanics are unpleasant, huff, puff, curse, get mad at you for not knowing everything about bikes (if I knew as much as you guys I would have done it myself). Agreed on other reviewers that there are plenty of bike shops, unfortunately no others downtown, that are enjoyable to work with and value customer service/repeat customers. Unapologetic as well, seems like they just want you out of the shop the second you walk in. I've lived downtown for 12 years and only had a few pleasant experiences.

We asked them if they could assemble our family bike for us. They said yes. We were quoted $100 & told it would be ready on Thursday. We call Thursday morning to arrange pick up. "Oh we didn't do it because there were no instructions."..We gave them company info and phone number at drop off and said if they have trouble and need instructions the company would send...so then they get instructions and tell us 2 days. When we go pick it up they tell us it cost $350! $250 more than we were quoted and without letting us know it would be that much more. So my spouse is inside telling

Unfriendly staff with a demeaning behavior for new customer. There's a lot of bike shop in the area with pleasing attitude towards there customer with better customer service, so don't waste your time. I'm not going back in this shop again.

I've been taking my bike to Wheel Base for years because the bicycle maintenance service is outstanding. Tom and Michael do a great job making sure the service is done well and done right the first time. I recently got new derailleurs and just asked them to pick out what to get. The ones they installed were reasonably priced and have worked great. I highly recommend Wheel Base for taking care of your bike because they really care about making the bike the best they can for you.

My husbands chain broke the day before we were going on a big ride. The Bike Dr. said it would take two weeks for them to fix it. I took his bike to The Wheel Base and the guy fixed it right on the spot; it was also very cheap. I'll go there for all my bicycle needs. They really help out fellow cyclists!!

Prices are great. They do a lot of stuff for free for me. They always offer advice that is not conducive to them making any money from me. I can pop in any time and put air in my tires and chat. They always do all work the same day for me. I get my lights, mirrors, locks/chains, racks from them. They carry the best quality of those items. Always take my bike there when I get a flat. I get a new tube and labor for like 20 bucks or so. They clean/grease/replace my wheel bearings once a year as needed. I stopped doing all that stuff myself once I found Wheel Base.

Excellent professional staff. Prices are comparable to most other bike specialty stores. The complementary tune up is worth its weight in gold. The bike looks brand new and their attention to detail was impeccable. They even replaced a tiny broken reflector without mentioning it or charging me. That is class.

I actually made an account just for this review. I had a bike in storage and my tires were flat, so I went into Wheel Base looking to just pick up a basic pump. Max not only showed me the selection of pumps, with his personal recommendation of what would be best for my riding habits, but he also inspected my wheels , pumped them up himself, then gave me his opinion on how long he thought I could ride them before needing replacement. All of this for no extra charge. This single experience exemplifies exceeding the expected customer service and I'll certainly be stopping in again for whatever

These guys know everything bike! I took my new Sync'r Pro into the shop. Another tech at a big box store put the bike together and told me some parts were bent, I wanted a second opinion. Tom and Mike hooked it up! They took my bike apart and reassembled it to perfection. Best priced service! Best grade quality! Only shop I will go to now for any of my needs!

My name is Jorge C. I have to say I have purchased 3 Bikes from Wheel Base since moving to downtown Frederick a little over a year ago. Every time I have gone in there, Tom, Mike, and Justin have been super helpful and very informative. They have gone out of their way numerous times to do the little things...lube a chain, exchange a faulty wheel from a Factory order Beach Cruiser, etc...etc.. Good service comes with a price, it may not necessarily be the price you want to pay, but at least you know the job will be done right. I guess some people want Filet-Mignon for the price of a Hamburger

I am an avid road rider and commuter and have been working on my road bikes for the last few years. I have used wheel base for the last six months and have been continually disappointed in their service and the demeanor of the staff. While their selection and service are both ok, the staff with a one exception has never made me feel welcome. While they may know more about bikes and bicycle repair than most of their customers that is no excuse for making customers feel stupid or uneducated. Our family and neighbors love having this great bike shop in our downtown neighborhood........ a real neighborhood treasure. I purchased my bike there about 18 months ago. The salesman must have shown me 7 or 8 different bikes; of course assisted with proper sizing; and sent me out the door to test-drive 2 or 3. In the end they found the perfect bike for me in the price range I had set. I've stopped in over this time to have them test my tire pressure and they're always so ready to help me out.

I have purchaed different types of bikes thro out teh past 25 years from Tom and his group. I have read the reviews below and while they may not aLL BE WARM AND FUZZY, i AM THRILLED THAT THEY ACTUALLY TAKE the TIME TO HELP U DECIDE WHAT U WANT. Regardless if I bought a base model or the custom Madone road bike from them,
they took tehtime to assure the best fit and geomotry for my body and its limitations. there was no upselling. and they even spend time with me side by side to view cycle options and how each option differs. the repair department is quite good, agian, i never experienced upselling

Sales person treated me like I was a nuisance, rather than taking any time to show me the differences between a few bikes I was considering. Too bad, got a nice $1000 bike with great service down the street on rt. 85

Lots of bikes, looks like a nice shop, but the salesperson was all over us the minute we walked through the door despite our asking to just look for a few minutes. Very pushy. Lost a sale--we bought somewhere we could breathe a bit. Too bad.

Great pricing on new Trek dual sport. Staff was friendly, helpful and offered great advice. When I picked up the bike, they spent a half hour properly fitting the bike to me. This is a great place when you are in the market for a bike.
