My favorite wine in Southern IL. Water tower white. I love the ambiance at this cute little place. The patio is beautifully decorated and has beautiful flowers and humming birds everywhere. The owner is VERY friendly and very knowledgeable about the area and about her wines. She will sometimes make "wine wiggles" and they are delicious! She has started carrying a few other beer/seltzer/soda options as well, since the last time I was out there. Definitely must give it a try!

They have a quiet, beautiful and inviting tasting room and a lovely outdoor patio area. A wonderful bonus is that all their wines are accidentally vegan! This is my favorite winery in the area.

5 stars for friendliness and effort, 1 Star for knowing where the winery is once you get past the sign. This winery had only sweet, semi-sweet and dessert wines which all tasted sweet. When the woman came out she brought out the 3 open bottles she was going to let me sample without asking what I like or giving me a choice. There was also a large dog that was running around the property without the attention of the hosts which would be bad for someone with a fear or allergies to dogs.

As other reviewers have noted, this place is a hidden gem! We could not have asked for a better experience at a winery. Bonnie was such a lovely host and really explained a lot about their wines, the area, and wine tasting in general. We chatted for quite a while before purchasing a bottle of our favorite wine. Even though we've been here before, we'll be back on our next trip! It was an awesome experience.

Lincoln Heritage was recommended by Lyle at the nearby Davie School Inn. Although it is not listed on the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail, it is certainly worth a visit (or several)! We were greeted by two friendly and adorable dogs, Sam and Roxie, and subsequently by Bonnie, in cork earrings, who acted as a gracious host. It was getting dark by the time we arrived, so we had intended to pop in a bit before closing time for a quick tasting, but I lost track of time as Bonnie took her time educating and engaging us in conversation, sharing her wealth of knowledge of wine and the region, including hiking

Even though this winery is not on the Shawnee wine trail, you should still include this winery to visit! This winery was recommended to us and we decided to give it a try as we were trying to stick with small, quieter wineries. We loved this winery and we were the only ones there, which was great as we were able to chat with the owner, Bonnie and pet Roxy the dog too. Bonnie did a great job catering to mine and my husband's preference in wines and we thought their wine was the best out of the wineries we visited! If you like quiet, relaxing wineries with a great wine selection, you should definitely

Our first time here and the wine was so good. A small tasting fee that is definitely worth the price. We tasted all wines and learned from the skilled tender all about the name of the wines and why they are named what they are. Lots of animals and beautiful land. We took out kids and they were quite welcome there. We will definitely be coming back.

Lincoln Heritage is in my opinion one of the best wineries around, from the down home atmosphere to the comfortable deck area that so many hummingbirds call home. Their wines are wonderful, their compassionate and inviting demeanor is second to none. Everytime I've been I've totally enjoyed! Highly recommend visiting and sampling their awesome flavors and if you already have go back and enjoy some more. P.S. how could I forget those adorable dogs. Love this place.

My husband and I recently visited this wonderful winery while in town for the Eclipse. Bonnie and Homer were so pleasant and knowledgeable. Our favorite wines were Ramblin' Raspberry, Black Jack, Water Tower White and Egyptian Gold. Make sure you take time to sit on the patio (even if it is really hot out, it's worth it!) to marvel at the hummingbirds. We'll definitely be back!

We loved this little place. Wine was good. The owners were great. The property was nice. Great patio that had hummingbirds galore! Loved that. Only wish would be dry reds of their own. But, we enjoyed this stop. :)

Do NOT SKIP this OFF the Wine Trail winery!!! Their wines are the most original and flavorful in Southern Illinois. The couple that owns this establishment are so friendly and informative. We had my daughter's bridal shower there and it was beautiful! Such a welcoming place. You can even bring your own food to enjoy with their delicious selection of wines. Have a glass or bottle of their award winning Black Jack!

Nice area on the way to other wineries. Not really worth the stop if you are a dry red drinker.
If you are not an animal person then stay away. The dogs run free and hair is everywhere.

We LOVED this quaint winery and their friendly dogs!! Bonnie, the proprietor, was so helpful explaining their wines and the Makanda area while sitting down w/us as we enjoyed one of their wines! Homer was out working in the field and was so friendly and great when he came in. We also met some great people who were there wine-tasting as well! We will be back on our next visit!

This is a totally out of the way adventure but to a place that serves delicious wine with a pleasant hostess! Bonnie was outgoing and very knowledgeable about just what we would like in a wine! We stated we like the semi-sweet to sweet and she did not disappoint! Ended up taking four different gems home with us! Sam and Roxie (her 2 dogs) were such a pleasant surprise being so loving to strangers! Such a beautiful and quaint little sitting area and porch area (once the weather is nicer) to enjoy a picnic basket lunch! We are DEFINITELY coming back!!

Thanks to my son (who had discovered this place a year or two ago) we found this out of the way winery when we were down in southern Illinois this last fall taking some friends to our favorite places. We have now found our all time FAVORITE!! The wines, especially if you like some more on the sweet side, are the BEST in the area maybe some of the best we have ever had! You will not find an owner more personable and accommodating then Bonnie. It is a little hard to find and even when you find it your not sure you are at the right place but it is well worth the effort!

Such a gem! It's a 2 man operation and each bottle is individually filled and corked. Hope you love their super friendly dogs that come out to meet you :). Bonnie is so sweet (one of the owners) They've only been in business a few years, so hopefully more Yelpers will stop by to support their business. And they don't ship, so buy what you want while you're there.

I cannot say enough great things about the owners, Bonnie & Homer Cissell. They run this business with love. Homer is a Master at Wine Making, and both are very gracious hostesses. Who needs TV when Bonnie or Homer can tell you a story, keep you company and listen to you as well. Union County, Il. is very fortunate that they have the best wineries and Lincoln Heritage Winery is the best of the best. Don't take it from me, go there yourself and have complimentary tastes of the wines yourself. Open Weds thru Sun afternoons. Who knows maybe you will even see me there and if you

My hubby & I are enjoying a bottle of Egyptian gold out on the patio watching the hundreds (literally) of humming birds. So relaxing & so enjoyable. The owner, the main guy pouring, is very personable & pours very generous pours. We will def. be back & will recommend them to others! A must stop even though they aren't on the 'wine trail'.

I was in SoIL for a week in May, and decided that I really wanted to hit up one of our local wineries and bring back some wine as a little treat to share with friends in SoCal. I got a little turned around thanks to my bad Google Maps nav in Anna, and arrived late in the day, not super long before closing on a weekday. I had the place to myself, but Bonnie was as cordial a hostess as could be. She was friendly, educational, and charming. And her wine was great, to boot!

I've done tastings throughout California, and had similar opportunities at great California wineries where I was fortunate
