At Kite Hill Vineyards, Winery, and B & B, we pride ourselves on being "a little bit of heaven off Route 127". We're only a ten-minute drive from Southern Illinois University SIU, and we welcome students, faculty, staff, families, and alumni to come by for a visit. Stay for the afternoon, or reserve a room at the B & B and make it a weekend.

The Winery Report

Take a complete tasting tour of our award-winning wines, or sample just those you like. Our tasting room staff will be happy to tailor the experience to fit your palate. We have a wide selection of dry, semi-dry, semi-sweet, and sweet wines in red, white, and blush. Kite Hill Vineyards has the OG Wine Slushy.

Bed & Breakfast Report

Our B&B is the perfect place for your stay in Southern Illinois. Located on the northwest corner of the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail, Kite Hill Vineyards is an easy drive away from Carbondale, Murphysboro, and the rest of the Shawnee Hills wine trail, the Shawnee Bluffs Canopy Tour, and local hiking attractions such as Little Grand Canyon, and the Pomona Natural Bridge.

This is the second time in the last 8 months we have come to this area, this winery is one of the best. We were given a taste of a warm blueberry pomegranate wine for the holidays, simply the best. Will be back in a few months.

We had a wonderful time at Kite Hill. Barbara was super nice and knowledgeable about their wine. She even told us that our cabin was really close by, so she knew the area well. We sampled all of their sweet wines and purchased 3 bottles. Very nice place!

We arrived early and the owner let us in. Loved our wine but loved the conversation more. So friendly and welcoming. This is the type of place that makes us think of buying a vacation home in the area. As a bonus, there were turtles sunbathing in the middle of the lake on the property.

Interesting and tasty local varietals, including one with teroldego, one of only 3 vineyards we know of that uses them. beautiful setting as well, and super friendly service.

The owner Barb is an absolute delight. Her companion Annie is also a sweetheart. The wine list included a variety of semi dry to dry wines with some small batch releases. Enjoyed the company, the wine and the lovely view of the vineyard. I look forward to visiting this winery again in the future.

A smaller winery but in my opinion made the experience more enjoyable. Staff was very nice and wine taste amazing. Definitely give this place a chance.

It is Monday, June 29. The website says the tasting room is open, however when we arrived there was a closed sign by the Tasting Room Road entrance and no one around. I understand changes during these Covid times, but updates on the webpage would be helpful. It's hard to rate the winery and the wines when it wasn't open.

The wine slushies here are phenomenal! We actually bought a kit of the peach bellini because it was so darn good. Would definitely recommend this winery because of the slushies. Jim was the owner here and he was very nice and informative. Smaller winery, but worth a visit!

Quaint, adorable winery with kite decor, overlooking a small lake. My family and I sat outside for a couple of hours just enjoying the view. I didn't notice anything too special about their wine selection, but staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and their frozen wines are phenomenal.
