The Fountains Apartments are located in prestigious West Des Moines, home to West Des Moines Community Schools (WDMCS) one of the most desirable school districts in the state. We are in the perfect location, just off Interstate 35 near the I-80/I-235 mixer between Mills Civic and EP True Parkways; minutes from the area's largest shopping mall, Jordan Creek Town Center.
There are plenty of nearby parks & trails, including Raccoon River Park which features a swimming beach, a fishing pier, picnic shelters and an off-leash dog park (did we mention we're dog and cat friendly with few restrictions?). We also have a Hy-Vee grocery store just up the block and there are tons of nearby restaurants and shopping on 50th Street, at the West Glen Town Center, and at Valley Junction.

Proof of Renter's Insurance that contains at least $100,000 in liability coverage will be required prior to application approval. Why is liability insurance required? Satisfying your insurance requirement is the first step in protecting yourself financially. As a resident you are responsible for any damage you cause to your unit.
It is important to us that our community offers a welcoming and safe environment to all of our residents. To help ensure our residents understand our pet and animal-related policies we require everyone to complete a third-party screening and review process. This process ensures we have formalized pet and animal-related policy acknowledgments and more accurate records to create greater mutual accountability.

Overall just terrible! They entered my apartment when they didn’t tell us they were going to… that’s illegal! Then even if you make an appointment, they don’t show up, then we called to reschedule and then provide a time and then they don’t show up again! So I called the office and their response was we had a couple other things come up… very unprofessional and not how you treat residents! There are so many other things but why waste my time stating them all!!! No one should look into leaving here!

I am a non-resident at The Fountain Apartments, but have had great experiences so far when communicating with The Fountains team. I unexpectedly arrived without a showing appointment on a Friday early afternoon, and Bob (the manager) was more than willing to give me a tour and answer any questions that I had. I was beyond grateful that he dropped everything in order to help me, especially since I think I interrupted a meeting. He was very detailed and thorough when showing the unit and answering all of my many questions. I felt nothing but relief when describing my situation because he explained

Worst application process I've ever been through. Absolutely no reason for it to take 2 months to go through simple paperwork, dish out WAY too much for an application fee and then have little to no responses from anybody who was "trying" to help us move forward. I suggest you look elsewhere because these people clearly have something to hide or just simply don't care about their customers/tenants.

Decent square footage. Lacks adequate parking for the number of tenants. "Guests" sleep over, obvious by lack of parking permit. Management threatens to tow, but never reinforce it. Which leaves paying residents with parking far away, or in the guest spots at the office. Otherwise you can pay $50+ to have a tiny garage.
Maintenance is relatively quick to respond.
Good views if you're near the pond.
Close to hy-vee and target, plus restaurants and shopping.
Appliances need to be updated, but I'm sure that's normal everywhere.
Overall decent, but you pay for what you
