Award Home Inspections is a commercial and residential property inspection company in the Richmond-metro area. When Joe Gershowitz founded the company over a decade ago, he wanted something different.
Many new homebuyers do not think about an inspection, but we recommend one. New construction has the potential for problems just like a pre-owned home. New construction inspections are performed after completion of construction, but prior to the final walk through with the builder. It is always a good idea to verify with the builder that utilities (gas, water, and electric) have been turned on for the inspection.
A residential purchase is usually an emotional decision. Someone falls in love with a home and makes an offer. That's not case with a commercial purchase. It's solely about the money. The buyer is making an investment decision, and in order to guarantee a sound investment, an inspection needs to take place prior to closing.
All homes have radon, but too much can be dangerous. Award Home Inspections is one of the few companies that performs radon measurements in the Richmond, Virginia area. The company is certified through the National Radon Safety Board and offers a competitive price on radon measurement services. Radon is a naturally occurring, odorless, flavorless and colorless gas that most commonly enters the home from the ground.

I am so impressed with the quality of work and professionalism of the team that conducted my home inspection. The report was very detailed and gave explanations for each item. They also include pictures with each item which is so much better than a typed list of items with no visual.
The report was sent very quickly and when I had questions and reached out to the company for explanations, the response came almost immediately.
I have recommended this company to my neighbors and will retain their information to share with family and friends in the future.

I recently used Award Home Inspections to perform a home inspection on a 2017 built home. The crew (3 people) showed up on time, and were extremely thorough throughout the process. The crew noted everything from small chips in the brick walkway, to larger structural issues deep in the attic.
The rates Joe and Award Home gave us were also the best around. They gave us a new customer discount as well. We couldn't be happier for the work they performed, and our real estate agent has also noted she will use them in the near future!

Because it was so thorough, the inspection done by this company saved me from buying a home that had been renovated and looked great yet had basement and attic damage that I would have never seen (and that the sellers were unwilling to properly fix)—which saved me in the long run. They arrive early and do the roof so you have photos when the process is complete and they review with you on site before sending out which is super helpful. They also provide measuring tape and other items to use while you wait. Nice guys who do a very detailed job!

Joe and his team recently did an inspection on my new house and did a wonderful and thorough job! They were very punctual, professional, honest, and knowledgeable through every step of the process. I would highly recommend them and plan to use them again in the future! On a side note, I have also used their electrical service (Award Electrical) for many jobs as well, and I have to say that Scott is the best in the business!

Joe and his team are hands down the best home inspectors out there. I have been working with Joe for many years. He is very detailed, meticulous and goes over everything...things you wouldn't even think of! He is extremely knowledgeable about all the odds and ends of a home and is very through. I wouldn't trust anyone else to do my home inspections and hiring him will be one of the best decisions you can make in the home buying process since your home is one of your biggest investments- you should hire only the best!
