The Earthquake Canyon Express - Riders are treated to a geologic extravaganza on this 20 mile tour that descends through the heart of the San Andreas Fault zone on a paved road to the heart of grape country near Mecca. There are no cross roads, no turns, and very little traffic which makes this a relaxing sightseeing adventure.

This jeep tour takes you to one of the nation's most outstanding wilderness treasures, Joshua Tree National Park. We use a rugged backcountry trail through the Little San Bernardino Mountains to take you from the Colorado Desert to over 4000 feet elevation in the Mojave Desert. Clients will be treated to magnificent unspoiled desert vistas, spectacular rock formations, unique plant and animal life, and outstanding geology.
We take you to a pristine desert landscape where you can choose from a multitude of trails. Our expert guides will cater the route to suit your ability level, from beginner to expert. The trails go through washes or along ridge lines and vary from sandy to rocky. Our guides will be able to teach you some new skills or you can test yours in our desert playground.

Ben was our guide and he was very knowledgeable of the area. He met us in the Morton’s Steakhouse parking lot in Palm Desert. He drove us 40 minutes to the drop off point. I was disappointed that we drove the whole route before being dropped off to bike the same route back down. The bike route is 20 miles and took us 1.5 hour. It is NOT all down hill. You should be in moderate shape to do this ride. We pedaled the entire time. Once you leave Palm Desert, there is no restroom until you return 4 hours later. Nature is your friend for the bathroom during the bike ride. Only half the bike ride is

I needed a brake cable fixed on an older 24 speed bike and sent out a blast to local bike repair shops. Surprised me to get a reply from a bike rental company but they were hands down the best price available for my needs. Thanks to the manager and repair man for getting it fixed in one day. I highly recommend them for your bike repair needs and maybe next time I'll book a tour which looked pretty interesting. Thanks a lot!

My wife and I had our honeymoon in Palm Desert and went on two guided tours at the San Andreas Fault and Joshua Tree. We had Isabel for San Andreas fault and Ben for Joshua Tree and both guides were AMAZING! They were so fun to travel with and were very knowledgeable about the area. We only planned on doing one tour but had so much fun we had to go back for another. Can't recommend this company enough, they do outstanding work!

So glad a friend from out of town asked to tour Joshua Tree during her visit. Found Big Wheels and it was easy to book. Plenty of choices. Our guide Isabel made it super special. She tailored our visit to meet our interests, like photo taking, going to the peak, some walking and just a tad of climbing. Her knowledge of not just the park's history but the surrounding towns and how all the rock formations came to be was amazing. Such a great time

I took my electric bike to repair front break and Zak was very amiable and professional. He was gracious enough to give us some tips on keeping the bike in good condition. We purchased a couple of items and again Zak showed us what items we should buy. Zak is an asset to this store. When you visit this establishment be sure and ask for Zak.

Just a wonderful experience - I’ve been on three tours now:
1) the Joshua tree tour with Kolyn - he’s so kind and knowledgeable and just makes everyone feel like their on a fun road trip with friends! We stopped for hikes an lookouts and plenty of photos!
2) San Andreas fault line tour with Isabel - Wow this girl can wheel!!! We had such a blast offroad blazing trails in a 4WD Jeep. She had such an understanding of the geography and plant and wildlife!!! We even saw a bearded dragon! We hiked through a rock cleft it was pure magic!
3) Box Canyon bike tour also with Isabel this one was just

First time renting from this shop and WOW what a great experience. Zack helped me pick a bike, let me test ride it around the parking lot, shared a bunch of tips and tricks about the bike--and riding in Palm Springs (sidewalks are legal when there are no bike lanes!). The best part: Big Wheels will deliver and pick from your hotel for a small fee. There are so many more plusses to renting from Big Wheels! Thank you. I'll be back!!

Isabel did an AMAZING job driving off road like a boss and teaching us about the Geology in the area. I am a science teacher and she taught me a lot. She made stops when any of us asked, found bathroom stops, had snacks and cold water. She picked us up on time and dropped us off on time with treat stop on the way. I highly recommend this company and Isabel as your tour guide. Wonderful desert experience. Thank you!

Rented a couple bikes from here last weekend. Super nice guy at the shop helped us and we were out the door riding less than ten minutes after we walked in. There’s a ton of really bike friendly roads in the area. We had a blast. Road from the shop out to Indio and back which ended up being 22 miles. I would recommend making the drive from Palm Springs if you’re looking for a more pleasant ride away from the crowds.

My 13 year old son and I did the Indian Canyon Bike and Hike tour with Ron as our guide. From the initial set-up on the bike through to the ending with complimentary artisan ice cream, it was an absolute delight. Ron knows the area and takes great pride, caution and courtesy throughout the tour. I feel like we learned quite a bit. The route and itinerary are an ideal way to spend an afternoon in Palm Springs. A+++ all the way.

Great service. I needed a repair on my bike ans all of the bike shops and mobile repairs in the area were booked weeks out. I called Big Wheel, assuming it was a long shot, and they told me if I could get there before closing they would fix my bike on the spot. I took it in and was immediately seen. They fixed the file, and I was out in 10 minutes.

After having almost dehumanizing difficulty getting my bike serviced via the pandemic boom in cyclists, from several corners of this country from Florida to Austin, Zach was excellent and thorough in getting my bike tuned, offered a lot of helpful information, and was able to get it done not both quickly, but at a price almost half of other places that had a much longer wait time.
And he avoided any superfluous repairs that the bike wasn't ready for yet. They really care about what they do, and it was most welcomed. Easy parking too. Can't recommend enough.

Could not be better! This place has wonderful bikes and service. We really wanted to ride bikes around during our Palm Springs vacation stay, but, due to the pandemic, were hesitant to get in a cab to go fetch them. Turns out we didn't have to worry, because Big Wheel Tours delivered the bikes to our rental house! And picked them up at the end of our stay! The gentleman who arrived with the bikes was friendly, informative, and super helpful. We loved the cruisers and used them a bunch during our time in Palm Springs. Super recommend this place for all your bike rental needs!

My jeep tour was with Isabel, and it was amazing! I have never been in a jeep before let alone be in a jeep in rough terrain. The jeep tour begins in Palm Desert and circles back (I am mentioning this since my Airbnb was in Joshua Tree near the West Entrance station which is about a 50 min drive from the tour's start point). - I emailed them and Evan replied stating I could take their driving tour which begins near my Airbnb, and stays on paved roads and covers more of the park, but I decided to just stick to the jeep tour.

My wife and I, along with our three adult children recently took the “Earthquake Canyon Express” tour, and can highly recommend it as an easy, fun activity for an afternoon. We were picked up in Palm Desert and driven in a van to Mecca Hills at the east end of Coachella Valley. There we got on our bikes and descended through a beautiful box canyon. Almost all of the trip was a gentle, downhill slope. The canyon is in San Andreas Fault metamorphic zone.
