Services
Mission Statement Lafayette Eye Associates, P.C. is dedicated to serving you with the best quality of care through our experience, technical skills and state-of-the-art equipment. Our goal is to provide quality family eye care. We believe that the key to the success of our practice is in educating you about your eye health in a family-friendly environment.
The Real Value of an Eye Exam Many eye problems present without symptoms or signs that might alert a patient that something is wrong. Many systemic disorders-some of them serious-have ocular findings without a patient being at all aware that anything is amiss. Kids are getting about school ending. Time for re-growth.
If you wear contact lenses, be sure to wear your lenses at least 2 hours before your scheduled exam. Bring along your regular eye glasses, any backup eye glasses, and any prescription sunglasses you might have. New patients, please bring along any old examination records you have and your current prescriptions.
Do you feel like you need glasses? You are in luck! We provide a selection of designer and affordable frames to fit your budget and your daily needs. If you are experiencing any eye difficulties below feel free to give us a call and schedule your annual eye exam or swing by and speak with one of our licensed opticians.
Any injury of the eye has the potential to cause vision loss or blindness. Most eye injuries, however, are preventable with the use of proper eye protection. This is why it is so important to be aware of common causes of eye injury and the proper means of protection at work, at home, and at play. At Work: Most eye injuries that occur at work result from chemical burns, foreign objects in the eye, or cuts/scrapes of the cornea.

Scummy business practices, their website and over the phone will claim to accept your insurance and then at payment will not accept it and require full cash payment. Go to another business that will honor you and your insurance.

I have been going to Dr David Himel for many years. I trust him implicitly. I have now taken my children to him and know that they are getting the same care I receive. I highly recommend Lafayette Eye Associates and Dr Dave Himel.

This is the most welcoming eye care office we’ve visited. While patients waited, the office was not crowded, was light and airy, the music classic rock, minimal wait. The staff, from check-in to technicians to optometry, was friendly, competent, and knowledgeable. Dr. Hamil was professional without being officious or condescending, his explanations were clear and informative; he took the time necessary to make sure we understood everything. He is also an engaging conversationalist. We recommend this practice without reservation. Sylvia and Howard, Old Town

Lafayette Eye Associates is one of the best optometrist facilities I’ve been to. The facility is large, very clean and they have a great selection of high and mid range frames to choose from. All of the staff was very friendly and professional. There was new high-end eye exam equipment in multiple rooms. Doctor David Himel was awesome, very smart, kind and took his time with my eye exam and explaining my eye condition and what type of lenses I would need. I would highly recommend this facility and doctor for your next optometrist exam!

I've been a patient for many years and have never, ever had a problem or delay and they're very personable. Yesterday a yellow jacket hornet stung me on the eye (!), I called for advice and they figured a way to squeeze me into their schedule with 15 minutes notice to take a look. Awesome client services!

The Staff through the whole continuum of care was amazing. I’m new to contacts, and they patiently instructed me on everything I needed. I never felt rushed and I gained so much confidence in the process. The whole experience was the best I’ve ever had. They’ve set my new standard for eye care.

Everyone at Lafayette Eye Associates is so friendly and helpful! I recently had an insurance change and they were proactive in letting me know how that would affect my visit. I appreciated the thoroughness of the whole eye exam process and the new diagnostic machines made me feel more than ever that my eye care is in very capable hands!

I've been going here for the last couple years and I've had a truly excellent experience each time, which is difficult do to my anxiety in relation to medical professionals. They are professional and polite, making me feel at ease through my entire visit. They have an excellent selection of glasses to choose from. Keep it up, and a special shout out to Dr. Himmel for laughing at my terrible jokes.
