Metta Yoga
Be it in group classes or private one-on-one sessions, Yoga addresses the ENTIRE MIND-BODY complex holistically to benefit many areas in life: STRENGTH, FLEXIBILITY, REHABILITATION, and RELIEF from PAIN and STRESS. For centuries Yoga has also fulfilled the role of a spiritual practice as well as a means for SELF-EMPOWERMENT and PERSONAL TRANSFORMATION.

I welcome people of ALL BACKGROUNDS, ABILITIES, GENDERS, and AGES and believe in the importance of COMMUNITY, DIVERSITY, and DEEP SELF-INQUIRY. Whatever your path, Linda Karl has the years of TRAINING, PRACTICE, and EXPERIENCE to guide practitioners in all aspects of authentic Yoga practice, bringing together BODY, MIND, HEART, and SOUL.
Services
A global Yoga teacher and long-time activist, I've been called a maverick, an innovator, and a facilitator of deep holistic healing. Seeking a paradigm shift in the local Yoga scene I take students beyond asana into the deeper dimensions of traditional Yoga. I teach "mindful yoga", a vehicle for transformation.
Classes will continue on Zoom for all students who are not vaccinated or who prefer to remain remote. Students have described their Metta Yoga: Mind-Body Education experience as dynamic, inspirational, thought-provoking, and life-changing.

My classes are for beginners who are seeking authentic, breath-centered Yoga with a meditative emphasis; for those who want more than what a public Yoga class can give them; and for dedicated practitioners seeking to expand their practice on a deeper level.I honor each person's unique needs. Your breath is the starting point and we move into the postures where we pause and rest to experience body-breath-mind.
Classes will continue on Zoom for all students who are not vaccinated or who prefer to remain remote. There are no refunds for private one-on-one classes canceled within 24 hours of your appointment. If you bought a package for private classes and you cancel a class within 24 hours of your appointment, one class will be deducted from your class package.
A "trauma sensitive" Yoga class is taught differently from the typical studio Yoga class. Sometimes a studio class is not comfortable for a trauma survivor and in fact may feel dangerous and scary. A trauma survivor can be an adult who suffered childhood abuse, domestic violence, or sexual assault, or someone who experienced a horrible accident, or a former soldier with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD.)
I believe it takes a minimum of 10 years of Yoga teaching to learn how to teach besides having a dedicated personal yoga and meditation practice. I am happy to help anyone along their path and as one of my teachers in India said, we should share what we know otherwise we are no better than thieves.

I have both attended and run workshops at Metta Yoga, and have found myself feeling instantly calm and relaxed upon arrival. Very conducive to being a yoga studio. It's a nurturing environment to be in and Emily is passionate about what she does, about sharing this passion with others and knows what she's talking about. This is a gorgeous, peaceful haven, run by a gorgeous and lovely yoga teacher. I definitely recommend Metta Yoga.

I have taught at Metta Yoga's previous studio in Altona, and attended workshops at the new home studio in Eltham. What can I say, the space is just beautiful! It is a very relaxed, intimate and calming place, that oozes Emily's personality and reflects what she is truly passionate about. As someone who has studied alongside & worked for Emily, I have witnessed first hand that she has a huge invested interest in anyone who enters her studio. Emily's dedication to nurturing and healing herself through yoga, movement and nutrition, transpires to a clear vision around what is taught at Metta Yoga.
