The online sessions keep me connected, motivated and strong. They are easy to join and provide just the right level of challenge. Thank you InsideOut Body Therapies for offering such a great variety of offerings during this time when we need each other more than ever. IOBT has made a huge difference in maintaining our health.
The attention to detail and the knowledge of body mechanics has been phenomenal. Meeting virtually is not as good as meeting in person but it sure as heck beats no contact! We feel that IOBT really cares about our well being. My virtual PT sessions through IOBT have been a lifesaver during the quarantine.

InsideOut Body Therapies is a premier alternative health, wellness, and fitness studio established in 2003 in Durham, NC. We strive to create a safe and welcoming environment for our diverse clientele. Our expert staff provide client-centered instruction and treatments that can be tailored for all fitness levels, shapes, sizes, genders, and ages.
Pilates is a system of therapeutic exercises originally developed in the 1920s by Joseph H. Pilates. These exercises are designed to stretch, strengthen, and balance the whole body with an emphasis on the breath, mindfulness, alignment, and coordinated flowing movement. InsideOut Body Therapies (IOBT) offers a range of training and teaching perspectives in Pilates instruction with Third and Fourth Generation Instructors.
Pilates-Based Physical Therapy (PBPT) at InsideOut Body Therapies (IOBT) is an approach to healing grounded in the moving body. Utilizing the Pilates system and traditional physical therapy methods, our PTs assess and treat the whole person. At IOBT, we are particularly adept at identifying and correcting problematic postural and movement patterns that can cause you pain.
Acupuncture is rooted in traditional Chinese medicine, which also includes herbal remedies, massage, diet, and nutrition. The practice of acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin sterile needles into specific points in the body to create a therapeutic effect.
Acupuncture is based on the belief that living beings have a vital energy - known as qi (pronounced "chee") - that circulates throughout twelve invisible energy lines, or meridians, on the body.In the tradition of Chinese medicine, it is said that disease or pain are often caused by an imbalance in the flow of qi throughout a meridian.

Yoga is a transformative body-mind tradition that has been practiced for thousands of years. Physical postures called "asanas" are traditionally combined with mindful breathing to explore a progressively deeper awareness of the body, mind, and present moment. Yoga classes at IOBT are taught in small groups, providing opportunity for the instructor to give plenty of individual attention.

I am bias because I do work here a few hours a week, but I started as a client and continue as a client. Fabulous instructors and acupuncturists. Quality equipment and the instructors take continuing education seriously. Because there are PT staff in the studio and a Teacher Training Program, special topics are often covered. Having instructors that can collaborate with the PTs in house to provide continuous care post-PT really delivers fantastic results.

I have been going to InsideOut for ten plus years. I have yet to find a studio that can match or surpass their level of attention, expertise and friendliness. The instructors and equipment is top notch and the space is beautiful and in a great location. I have taken equipment and mat pilates as well as TRX and worked with their acupuncturist and physical therapist. They are a well rounded studio that I cannot recommend enough. If you've never done these type of exercises, they are a great place to start and if you've been doing it for years, they can keep you challenged.

I started coming here almost two years ago with the hope that an exercise method that emphasizes core strength would help me manage my back and neck pain. I have not only felt positive changes in my body, but discovered the most welcoming fitness studio, from both the instructors and fellow clients - I truly look forward to going to classes. I've done PT here as well, and as someone who's gone to a lot of physical therapists, I love the whole-body approach that the IOBT PTs take.

InsideOut Body Therapies is not only the best rehabilitation center in Durham, I consider it to be the best in the Triangle and one of the top places to rehab in the country. Their Pilates-Based Physical Therapy Program is second to none. As a Certified Rolfer dealing with many clients suffering from acute and chronic pain, I feel confident in referring even the most fragile people to IOBT. I have been doing Pilates since the early 90's and their approach is top-notch: classical, authentic, and innovative. Many of the instructors were trained at The Pilates Center in Boulder and most are PMA-certified

I’m so thankful I found IOBT. I needed to build my core for balance reasons and my sessions with Jessica have done that. The studio is modern and always introducing innovative classes for all levels. Everyone there is kind and I love how I know Pilates is helping me on a level my dr is happy with, since he suggested Pilates in the first place.

I love this pilates studio. I have been going regularly for 2-3 years. I had tried pilates classes at the gym before but it just made my back hurt. At InsideOut the instructors are making sure you are doing the moves with the right technique so you aren't hurting your self. If you already have an issue they help you modify the moves if you need to, and walk around correcting your position to make sure you're doing it right. Everyone is really friendly and it's easy to get to know the teachers and the other students because many people are "regulars".

InsideOut is a wonderful studio for a variety of Pilates and Yoga classes. Both mat and equipment classes are available with several options throughout the morning and evening. My favorites are Deep Stretch with Deborah on Saturday mornings and Yoga with Michael on Thursday evenings. All staff are wonderful and welcoming. It's truly a relaxing spot and a great place to enhance your pilates practice.

Great Pilates studio. Cool ambiance, talented teachers, and good mix of classes. I've done floor classes for years and enjoyed the teachers' different styles and focus on technique. Pilates is one of those things that is much better done with a teacher than a video, as it is so technique-driven.
Pilates is great for exercise, abdominal tone (you'll get a six pack if you stick with it), overall muscle definition, and treating injuries. There are PTs on staff, and you can get sessions covered by certain insurance providers.
When I've developed challenges from overworking, such as carpal tunnel

I had 3 minor disc bulges and tried going to another physical therapist for months, but my experience at InsideOut has been much better for my back. I've healed more and the exercises have worked better. I feel like this studio focus on how to treat the whole problem. Learning Pilates has helped me stretch my body and identify real alignment issues. I felt like my Physical Therapist was extremely knowledgeable and had great expertise for my issues, showing me proper form, etc. I've also gone to a class and plan on being a lifelong Pilates junkie.
