Rafael Upholstery is a unique, full service upholstery workroom, catering to the interior design professional as well as anyone with a desire to customize or restore their upholstered furniture. Simon Eilenkrig, a European trained custom upholsterer, previously worked for Randolph and Hein and other prestigious companies.
Rafael Upholstery has been in operation since 1991. We specialize in antique restoration, leather work, wall upholstery and custom built furniture; our frames are always built with hardwood and double doweled with reinforced corner blocks and 8 knots of tying twine on coil springs.

We stumbled upon the Rafael Interiors store just walking by, and we ended up making a couple of large purchases here. They have a wide selection of bedding, towels and drapery. Joey, the owner, was helpful, knowledgeable and quick to understand our style and preferences. He cares about making his customers happy - he offered us outstanding service and amazing prices we couldn’t match anywhere else for the products we chose: SFERRA Giza 45 Percale Egyptian Cotton and SFERRA Finna Percale sheet sets, MATOUK Lotus towels and Downright Bernina and Downright Sierra comforters. This upholstery place does a great job and re-upholstered four dining room chairs for me. I probably could have purchased 4 new chairs for the cost, but it was my choice to keep the integrity of my dining room, with matching table and hutch.
I would recommend this business as Simon E. is very experienced and works with students to teach them the art of re-upholstery.

This store is why I still love to shop at the small Boutiques in Manhattan. You cant get this kind of service at a department store! They helped me design the drapes for my whole apartment. I then bought the most luxurious sheets and towels from them as well. I recommend this store highly- ask for Morris (his blue eyes are magnificent too!)

I LOVE working with Rafael Interiors. I have worked with them over 20 years - Each job ( whether big or small) has been met by them with excellence. Rafaels work, customer service can't be beat. They care about every detail and really care that their end product is perfect and just as important, they care that their customers are happy. Remember the good old days when you could go to a neighborhood store and get fabulous service AND the best price available. That is Rafael Interiors. I have been going to them since 1990. I have purchased over 20 pieces custom-upholstered furniture from them, had very old and fragile chairs, re-furbished and re-upholstered, purchased blinds and draperies, and had custom-made bed linens made.
Shades I purchased through them for my sun porch at the beach mildewed over the winter. These shades were not certified for outdoor use, but they had the manufacturer send me a different set of shades worth

This shop is horrible. Avoid it. You can buy everything they sell elsewhere without the attitude and terrible service. Owner was rude and unhelpful. Another let down was that the owner and a staff member gave me 2 different quotes - this left me feeling uneasy and that I couldn't trust them.
PS: This review is not fake. It's about my personal experience and Rafael's doesn't even care, considering their nasty comment to my review.
Their response alone should show you exactly the type of customer service and treatment you are going to get in their shop. Really disgraceful.

Never seen like this !!! Uncommitted company. They were v late in delivering to my temp address in Manhattan and before traveling. The president mr Joey didn't take responsibility to refund me and take package back from the hotel and ignore me for 5 months , also he refused to receive the package back as promised from Ups which I paid for to send shipping label.. I Never recommend any one buy from them.

We had some chairs that were uncomfortable and they knew right away the if they raised the chair it would solve the problem so when they raised and recovered them it made all the difference in the world. They made a custom fabric headboard for us that is exquisite and also made a love seat and ottoman to match.
