CIHC was founded by Denise J. Hanson, Psy. After visiting Wilmington, North Carolina for many years, they found it to be a truly unique city because of its location, beauty, resources, and most of all, its people. They decided to leave their group practices in the Boston area and move to Wilmington in 1999.
They wanted to develop a group practice based on an integrated model of health care, recognizing that physical health and emotional health cannot be separated. The Mind-Body Connection has long been accepted, but mind and body are still treated separately in most health care practices. The Center for Integrated Health Care is based on the premise that one truly affects the other, and therefore, need to be treated as an integrated entity.

Hands down the the absolute BEST Dr. In the world! He has saved my life in so many ways, but when I see him he Is the best spirited person I have ever had in a Doctor. He has saved my life every visit I see him! I thought he was a phychiatrist, but was astounded the he was not, because of the talks of how to make it through with his caringness of my feelings and the mental health talks were better than ANY other phychiatrist. I Love you Dr. Gerry!

Dr. Russell Gery has saved my life more than once, and he ACTUALLY wants to get to know his patient. There are not any Docter I trust more. He does Psychiatry and general health, what more can you want! He listens to you and remembers everything even once you see him once every 3 months, but if you need some one to talk to you can call and schedule before the 3 month session. I have been to mental hospitals 9 times and tried A LOT of doctors in Wilmington, NC and none has cared more! Except Dr. Mathews, but Dr. Gerry takes the cake. I LOVE THAT DOCTER! And Medicaid exception!

I loved this doctor felt like I was being heard. However I was called on about 4 different occasions the day of my appointment to be told the doctor wouldn't be able to see me because he wasnt in office. One time I showed up for my appointment ( I live almost 45 minutes away) and was told he wasnt there that I'd have to reschedule. I have 3 small children at home it is hard for me to find a sitter. Anyways I had to call in on 3 occasions because my kids were sick on my 3rd my 8 month old baby at the time had a fever of over 100, I called that morning informing the staff of the matter. I was told

Without divulging specifics, one could say I'm so familiar with doctors that I should submit my manuscript to Wiley & Sons: 'Physician's For Dummies: A Reference for the Rest of Us.' The Doctor who is my main physician (Dr. G.) would probably do more good in the world if he taught a philosophical/psychological course in med schools on 'The proper way to interact with patients' plus a relatively rare concept: 'Doctor's who actually care about their patients well-being.' i would hope that if he should read this, he will NOT ponder my suggestion, as this would be considered a self-inflicted gunshot
