Dr. Hough is a native of the Washington area. He attended Swarthmore College and the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. He completed his anesthesiology residency and pain management fellowship at Harvard Medical School/Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. After serving three years in the US Air Force, he returned home in 2001.
Mrs. Janssen has spent her entire career, over a decade, in the field of pain management, first as a registered nurse at George Washington University Hospital, and later a Nurse Practitioner in private practice. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from St. Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana, and her Master's degree at Goerge Mason University in Virginia.

For many people with acute and chronic pain, pain medicine is an important part of a comprehensive care plan. However, opioids aren't appropriate for most people suffering from pain, including chronic pain. I would like to express my gratitude to Dr Hough and his team for the excellent work to help me on my severe back pain. After reviewing my CT scanning result, he pointed out the likely cause of the pain and tell me how to reduce and eliminate it. I followed his instruction and my back pain is totally gone now!

When I made the appointment with Dr. Hough for 12/9/21, I was expecting a reasonably courteous encounter. However, throughout my appointment, he was terse, abrupt, and by abruptly yanking my shirt up without warning or without asking me to do it, and by almost ripping one of my shoes off, I feel that he exhibited a great lack of respect. These actions, plus his manipulations of my legs, without explanation, made me feel abused and somewhat bullied. It costs nothing to exhibit courtesy and empathy to a patient, so why could he not do this?

Four years ago, I was hesitant to start any type of pain management. My orthopedic physician referred me to Dr. Peruvemba. He was very knowledgeable of my condition, how to treat as well. I appreciate that Dr.Peruvemba has excellent bedside manners, understanding /listening to my concerns as a patient.
Currently I have returned to Dr. Peruvemba for another back issue.
The service is still excellent, and the office staff provides courteous and efficient care. Thanks Pain Mgmt. Specialist for providing quality care.

Excellent! I have been going to Pain Mgmt. Specialist for years and, as most patients are nervous about seeing new Dr's, I was no different. I had been seeing a different pain mgmt practice and I felt that I was not being heard. I felt that medication was being suggested rather than listening to my concerns for that. I didn't want that, but rather wanted to try alternative measures. With that being said, I sought out for a different practice. I was referred by a close friend to this practice.... I was completely surprised on my 1st consultation, starting with the staff, and everyone in between

I was very happy with the practice. The three persons I had contact with were extremely patient and compassionate. Dr. P took his time to listen to my mom and thoroughly explained her condition to her and what he suggests to help with her back pain. The receptionist was very pleasant. Last but not least, Evan was amazing. He showed so much understanding towards my mother. His care and love towards the patient was vey evident. Great job!
