Crary Shoes
Approximately 90% of the footwear we craft is for medical patients needing accommodation because of degenerative foot conditions, or as a result of accidents. We work with many workers' compensation injury victims, diabetics, and professional athletes that have become aware of the great need to protect their feet from daily abuse.

For a large majority of our customers, the shoes they wear are considered medical devices, not luxury items. Crary Shoes has been serving customers all over the world for over 40 years. Physicians of all specialties send their patients to us because of diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, ankle fusions, congenital deformities, war injuries and much more.
Services
The patented Arizona Mezzo is the 'happy medium' between a UCBL and the standard Arizona Brace. The custom-fabricated Arizona Mezzo provides support for a variety of midfoot and hindfoot conditions requiring superior longitudinal arch support. Its low-profile design and soft leather lining mean easy shoe fit, exceptional comfort and greater patient compliance.
Have you been diagnosed with CMT and have pain in your feet and trouble finding properly fitting shoes? Have you been diagnosed with diabetes and peripheral neuropathy? Do you have foot problems, such as callouses, hammertoes or even amputations? Crary Shoes can help get you on the path to freedom from these problems with corrective footwear.
We are a preferred provider for the Veterans Administration VISN 20 and it is our pleasure to help our Veterans with their footwear and orthotic needs. Did you get a foot and ankle injury in the war? Do you have foot complications due to diabetes?

If you are in need of our products and services, talk with your primary care physician or podiatrist (foot doctor) at the VA, so he/she can help determine if there is a medical necessity and create a purchase order to send to our office.Bill Crary comes from 11 generations of veterans, across all branches.
Rocker Bottoms: rocker bottom soles are used to assist with foot problems such as arthritis, hammertoes, metatarsalgia, healing ulcers, heel pain, and much more. The are different types of rocker bottoms that are specific to each foot problem. Our Pedorthist works with you to recommend the right kind.
Shoe lifts, whether internal or external, should ALWAYS be full length, unless your physician has recommended otherwise. Unless you have been diagnosed with heel equinus, a full sole lift is usually best. Keep in mind that if you have never worn a lift before, your body may only be able to tolerate half of the actual difference.

Don't let them tell you that your diabetic shoes are 100% covered... Very dishonest practice. Will not return.
Response: All it would take is "Our costs are completely covered by your insurance, however you may be responsible for a copay." She is elderly and asked several times to clarify.

I come to Crary to add a heel lift to every new pair of shoes I purchase. For years I have tried solutions to make up the difference of my true leg length discrepancy but have found the permanent solution with Crary. The quality is superb and has yet to show any indications of failure, and it blends so well that it can be hard to see that I am wearing one lifted boot or shoe. I'll keep returning to Crary for work on all my shoes knowing that I'm paying for something that will help reduce my pain for a long time.

Our family has been going to Crary Shoes every year for the last 20 plus years. We've always had an excellent experience. Having custom shoes is a necessity and a lifesaver for one of our family members. Meredith has always taken the time to make sure that the shoes are exactly what is needed and perfectly fitted to prevent any foot complications. The office staff is amazing as well! I can't say enough good about Meridith and Bill. Their craftsmanship and care in making sure that the shoes and insoles are made correctly and specifically for our medical needs has truly and literally been a lifesaver

I had custom shoes made, they are unwearable. I found their knowledge level of foot problems such as under pronation to be less than optimal. Over all bad experience with this company. I lost my $120 co-pay on a pair of shoes that are unwearable. Attitude, tone of voice, telling you that you can't possibly be uncomfortable. I do not recommend this business. Buyer beware

Due to having a Charcot foot I had to have a pair of shoes made to fit the one foot. Customer Service is a 5 star, but the selection is terrible, I would have thought someone who makes shoes would have a little more wiggle room to make a good looking shoe, instead I had to get a chunky type Adidas looking shoes that have made me trip and fall so many times. That is on me for thinking they could design and make a good looking shoe.. Keep up the good customer service.

They down played my input and reason why I was there for orthotics, I seemed to have had a "personality" conflict with Meredith and should have left at that point. Instead I gave them the benefit of the doubt and had custom shoes with inserts made, so sorry I did. Don't trust this company with helping you improve your mobility.

This is my first time dealing with Crary. The entire staff are friendly, knowledgeable & caring. I ordered my boots to accommodate my new orthotic inserts. When they arrived I went in to be fitted only to find out the shoe company sent the wrong color. They re-ordered and I left with just my inserts. 3 days later the correct boots arrived. I was going to have them shipped to me so i didn't have to make another trip. Angela who was taking down my address said she lived near me and offered to drop them off on the way home. I had my new boots 40 minutes later. This was definitely above and beyond

We are so lucky to have a shoe company like Crary in Portland. Their combination of professionalism, personal attention, and many years of experience in the shoe/boot making industry have earned them 100% of my loyalty. They listened carefully to how I used various shoes and boots and custom built foot wear that met my needs.
Everyone at Crary is professional, works as a team and there is a family energy you don't find in many of the national franchise shoe providers. I would not hesitate to recommend Crary Shoes to anyone seeking quality foot wear and a caring custom orthopedic experience

I have been to other specialty shoe stores and this stores sets itself above them in several different ways.

First off, they have not one but 2 pedorthists on staff and both of them ( john and Meredith) are 2 of the most kind, helpful and knowledgeable people i have ever dealt with in the specialty shoe business or any other business.

I am diabetic and have neuropathy and several other foot problems and recently purchased 3 pairs of shoe and inserts. A pair of sheep skin slippers for around the house, gym shoes, and a pair of walking boots. After wearing them for a few days i developed large

Took a shoe in for a lift and was treated like they could have cared less for what turned out to be a pretty standard job for another shop. Was a Crary customer for over 10 years but after a couple times of getting the "wow, we can't do that " line and feeling like im taking up their time, I went else where.
