We cut keys and have a wide selection of options, such as automobiles, motorcycles, living spaces, padlocks, offices, mailboxes and campers. Julie Derrick, from JD Shoe Repair, shares how to get your shoes ready for warmer weather. The weather has tossed us about this spring. We love projects that tell a story, and this bag has a great one. The customer's mother did the needlepoint and had the bag assembled, likely in the 1950s, .
Services
JD's Shoe repair was founded in 2009 by Julie Derrick, a cobbler trained in Portland under the tutelage of master cobblers. The original space was in a rehabilitated gas station on North Vancouver Ave.
The shop has resided in its current location at 7015 N Greeley Ave since 2017 Working in local shoe repair shops formed the basis of Julie's cobbling skills, and she has been fortunate to be mentored by some of the most experienced cobblers in the region.

Dowels, cowboys, work boots, sneakers, clogs, boots, shoes: almost all heels can be repaired and replaced, and they're the most common area of wear on a shoe. When run down into the heel block, we build the block up and put on new caps. There's a broad range of possibilities here, so be sure to get your boots and shoes checked out before you throw them away.
We've put together a new section of our website to showcase the range of repairs that are not shoes. We named it the Odd Jobs section. Check it out and remember that shoe repair is so much more than you might think. Shoe repair goes well beyond shoes. The major part of our work is on shoes and boots, but we bring in a wide variety of projects that are unique and singular.

I bought some boots on super sale and they needed zippers to be a little easier to take on and off. After being rejected by several other shoe repair places, I went to JD's Shoe Repair.
They happily took my boots and helped me pick out the hardware for the pairs. It was a very pleasant experience in the shop, I paid a reasonable price up front for each of the pairs, and I was told they should be ready in about 3 weeks.
I love my boots. The zipper installation by JD's Shoe Repair has made these boots staples of my wardrobe. I trust the shop's work and I will be back for future

JD has repaired many a shoe/belt/handbag/purse for me since before she even had her own shop. I've had some unusual requests over the years, but she is always game for some creativity or the standard re-sole. What I appreciate so much is the workmanship and neighborhood and community feel that she and the staff are committed to. I trust them completely.

Like an idiot (why do I feel like I'm starting a lot of reviews this way lately) I was cleaning my kitchen in a nice pair of tan suede boots and managed to fling grease from my stovetop directly onto the toe. Instant stain. Instantly ruined pair of boots? Maybe, but not necessarily. To JD's I go!
I arrive with the boots in tow, plus another pair of shoes I had gotten all muddy due to an ill-advised walk across that wintertime swamp known as The Fields park. The clerk informs me that the muddy shoes shouldn't be a huge issue, but that grease stains are forever. She tells me that

I was happy to see there was a neighborhood cobbler, however, they charged me an arm and a leg for just adding soles on the bottom of vintage boots. The quality was just fine, but when I got charged $70 I almost blew chunks. I've lived in NYC and to get that kind of service it would be $12 at the most. I guess I'll go back here again because there isn't another choice. I asked about if they fixed purses and the quote I got was insane. I could go buy another vintage Gucci with the money it would have cost to fix a liner inside. YYYEEWWWW

Would not recommend as far as purse repair goes. Paid $120 to have purse straps replaced. I was told they would dye match the straps. The color is very off, does not look good at all. I pointed this out and the owner said "I thought we nailed it" and that was the end of that in her mind I guess. Well great, then pay me $120 and you can have the purse because I don't think it looks good at all. The quality of repair is definitely NOT worth what they charged.
Also, I was told the bag would be ready in 3 weeks. Called them after 3.5 weeks and it was like they had completely forgot

Brought in a pair of Frye heels that were losing their sole and a pair of Dr Martens with a broken zipper (that also happened to have years old playa dust caked on).
Yes, it took awhile and was pricey but it was completely worth it. My shoes look completely brand new. The stitching was perfect, shoes cleaned and conditioned and sole solidly stuck.
Quality shoes that can be sustained through quality places like JDs will last forever. Good investment all around.

JD's shoe repair has gotten too big for it's britches. The last two times I did business with me the staff seemed too busy to be bothered. Additionally, they did a poor job on the last two jobs I had for them. A pair of boots I had then resole came back too big for my feet. They had already fit loose, so whatever kind of shoe tree they had them on must have done them in. I had them resole a pair of beloved white sneakers for me, and the glue they used on the toe box neither held together nor dried clear. They charged Ine $100, and I have since used plain old super glue to do a better job than they

JD's delivers high quality, creative solutions to all of my well-loved leather goods. I have had many shoes/ boots re-soled and they take the best care of my vintage leather bag. I live out of town now and still ship all of my stuff to them whether they just need a little TLC or a serious repair job. I can not recommend JD's highly enough.

So disappointed! I took in two pairs of shoes after seeing how much people liked the shop, and especially with its new location being so close to my home and on my way to work. I left them a REALLY nice pair of Italian leather boots and some casual espadrille wedge sandals. The boots were fine, nothing insane but definitely nicer than before. That got them the two stars.
But the wedges were virtually UNTOUCHED. Even after I had specifically shown the lady at the counter what was wrong with them (because it's not that easy to tell unless you wear the actual shoes). They completely ignored my comments

Took my boots in for repair in August and waited 5 weeks for them. It's now 4 months later, and the sole has begun separating at both the front and back of one boot. This could in part be due to the fact that instead of simply attaching the correct amount of sole, the wear on both boots was compensated for by inserting a triangular section at the back above the new sole. I thought it looked peculiar at the time, and it fact it simply provided another place for water to get in. I've had pairs of shoes resoled many times, but never with a result like this.
