Mad Greek Deli is a locally owned Greek restaurant and sports bar in Portland, OR. We have been serving authentic and sumptuous Greek food for more than 30 years. Our restaurant maintains a great family atmosphere where everyone can enjoy their favorite American and Greek food. Our dishes are cooked from scratch using traditional recipes.
Established in 1977, the Mad Greek Deli is still family-owned and operated. Whether you are a regular or first-time customer, you will immediately feel like part of our family. In fact, many of our customers have been dining with us since we opened for business. Have you tried Greek food before? Want to eat gyros?

I went to go get a drink with a couple coworkers tonite as I have many times. I have always liked the atmosphere and people at this place but in the last few weeks we have gone there is one particular bartender that does not seem to care about service we have to sit there and try to get her attention for service and not even a thank you for stopping by when we leave. But tonite my coworker asked her why you give us terrible service she told him because you're all rude. I then asked "excuse me why are we rude". I was irritated at that point and raised my voice but polite. Then the manager came to

Pretty disappointed for the price of the food.
Taking into consideration the difficulty of COVID, inflation, I don't mind paying fair prices for decent food.
I think the pictures provide proof.
9.99 for a hummus and falafel plate. 6 dry falafel on a bed of brown rotting lettuce, accompanied by an incredibly small, 3.25 ounce cup of hummus.
The pita plate comes with a decent amount of pita, but the same, insignificant amount of hummus, no veggies, or anything. Absolutely not worth 10 dollars.
Aside from the rotting lettuce, which was just a decoration... But why even do it.. the service was

Ok...I've been coming here for years for soccer matches. Today was obscenely lovely. Let me paint the scene: the timbers are in their third MLS finals...this time the match is in portland but I have my hands on exactly zero match tickets... we get to the Greek at 10 am, eat an early lunch, play board games...the owner is LOVELY. He's personable, kind and what a restaurant owner should be. Flash forward: we make it past the 30 minutes of extra and get to the PK's....My very sweetly sensitive kiddo is moved to tears...he's crying. We lose in PK's and the owner gives the kid

I had a beef and lamb gyro
and it was absolutely delicious. Full of meat and even had a little zing to it. Same with the dolmas (stuffed grape leaves)......they were very tasty. What took us off guard (and the reason for 4 stars) was the stack of plates they brought to us....they were greasy and dirty....not just one of them, but all 3. What a shame....it detracted from what otherwise would have been a very positive dining experience.

Since there is no longer a Hillsboro location, it is worth the drive to the east side. Went in on a Sunday, there were only two young men running the show, and they have definitely have their act together. Excellent service and attentive customer service, yes with only two guys and also servicing the bar. The food was outstanding, gyro, hummus plate, and Greek fries. The fries-Omg done to perfection and omega sauce, heaven!!! Go there now and tip big, no regrets.

Discovered this gem while randomly stumbling down the sidewalk, parched and famished. The food here is beyond belief and for the price - you won’t regret it, drunk or sober. Wonderful staff and let’s be honest… anywhere that sells ice cream bars and potato chips for snacking, is all right in my book.

I visited Mad Greek Deli for the first time, during Portland Mercury Magazine's Burger Week 2021, and I had their Papadopolous burger (pictured). I conquered 19 burgers, that week, and it was roughly tied, as the best.
The Papadopoulos featured an all-beef, char-broiled patty, a house-made Omega Sauce, grilled onions, candied bacon, feta cheese, and crispy fried pepperoncinis, on a butter bun. It was exceptional! Easily worth the Burger Week price of $6. I still would actually urge them to make it a regular menu item (presumably in the roughly $10-$12 range), though I do remember that the charbroiling

Went to MGD for burger week. The Kentucky Lemonade burger combo was amazing, but the taste, while top notch, was not even the coolest part of this experience.
The food came, tasting absolutely perfect, in less than 3 minutes. It was incredible! It's the best tasting meal that came in under 3 minutes that I've ever had. Must be a record. The combo came with in-house made lemonade which was also amazing. Thanks MGD!

Today was my first time back in about 15 years. Their Burger Week entry was my second favorite of all the ones I tried; Hop Capital Brewing was #1.
They continuously make 'em, it looked like an assembly line; the turnaround time from order to execution was less than two minutes.
It's a somewhat hefty burger, but still functional too eat (can't stand it when they're too tall.) The crispy pepperoncinis make it.
The lemonade and peach cocktail was decent.
Friendly staff, terrible parking, lots of regulars.

We went strolling around the neighborhoods today looking at cool houses and yards and smelled the Mad Greek Deli blocks away and were drawn to the smell of wonderful burgers with grilled onions, feta ,battered peppers and bacon. We were excited to find the food truck out front pushing out basket after basket and we ran inside to get some.
The staff was great and multiple folks asked how we were enjoying everything.
The Kentucky bourbon lemonade with peach and lemon drink was delightful and refreshing and great paired with the succulent and flavorful burger.
Thanks for having that tantalizing

While searching Ubereats for my weekend splurge delivery, I was alerted to a new food cart set up in downtown Hillsboro. My boyfriend and I love trying new places, especially food carts that tend to be smaller menu with several items done well.
We have never eaten at the restaurant on Burnside, so I have no idea how it compares in that way, but it was absolutely amazing!

After many years of being my fav Greek restaurant, I fear today may be my last visit. I don't know when they started throwing tons of cayenne pepper in EVERYTHING, but the normally delectable Fotis Gyros and large Greek salad were completely inedible to myself and my son. Only my husband could eat it. Lamb souvlaki sticks still delicious, but damn. Those were a few bites of agony out of a $61 take out dinner. Very, very disappointed.. I miss Foti's Deli!!!!

Hmm, decided to try something new and ordered through GrubHub ... order was not correct but got a refund almost immediately.
Ordered the Mad American and Mad Turkey sandwiches for the kids ... they were HUGE and delish! The chicken in my Gyro seemed raw but maybe it was that color because it's roasted ... good flavor but I didn't eat much of the meat because of the pink color. I wished the meat was shaved versus chunks so it would have been easier to eat.
Asked for extra Tzatziki sauce on my husbands Gyro and they loaded it up!

Came here for a Timbers watch party. AWESOME experience. Food was excellent. Beer was excellent. Service was excellent, even with the place literally packed (no seats available). Atmosphere was great. Definitely a place you could bring kids. They even had a changing table in the restroom. We will definitely return.

This is what I imagine is the Greek equivalent to American bar food.
Service was quite nice. Typical bar experience. Food is nothing to brag about. Lots of beers on tap (at least a dozen) including a CBD soda. If you want a decent bar to belly up, this is a nice place.
The best way to describe the food is anemic. Food is served in plastic red baskets and sauces come prepackaged in plastic cups. My husband got a typical gyro and I got the falafel basket. The lettuce was on the cusp of rotten with a horrible taste and was nearly as white as the raw onions that came in the basket. The falafel balls
