Services
The Abbate family - originally from a small town in Sicily, Italy called Cinisi - opened their first bakery in Brooklyn, New York in 1976. The family brought in skills that they picked up from bakers and friends of the industry who could teach them the ways of the art. There, they developed their own family recipes that we continue to use today.
Our staff and pastry chefs will assist you in executing all ideas and visions for your most important events. It is always best to come prepared with inspiration photos of the design you're interested in. This will ensure time efficiency and will help us gain an understanding of what you're envisioning for your special cake.

I ordered a rainbow cookie cake (rainbow cookies on the outside, vanilla cake with cannoli cream inside) for my friend’s birthday. The bakery added the roses and it came out so beautifully. And it tasted even better. I’m from Staten Island so I’m spoiled when it comes to bakeries… Abbate more than holds their own against any bakery on Staten Island. My new go to bakery in Jersey.

I loved this bakery. I order from here all the time. However the past 2 times I have placed online orders (both 3 days in advance) and paid in advance online the bakery did not have my order. The first time I waited about 15 minutes and they were able to compile my order. The second time they wanted me to come back in an hour to pick up my cake. I did not have the time and had to get something totally different. They charge immediately once you place the order however when you go to pick it up they have no idea what you're talking about. Very disappointed that I will have to find a new bakery

I've always heard good things about this bakery! I was getting my sons hair cut on Christmas Eve and was in the same shopping center and there was a line out the door just to get into this bakery. Now I had to try it out to see if it was worth all the hype and it definitely was! My husband brought home a few cookies and they were amazing. My favorite cookies are the pignoli ones and they tasted so fresh. My kids love the rainbow cookies and these were even better because they were filled with cannoli cream. So glad we found this bakery we have been looking for a good Italian bakery for a while

Disappointing experience. I ordered a custom birthday cake for my Dad and requested fresh strawberries on top and inside. These don’t look like fresh strawberries on top. And I paid extra for them!!! The inside also had minimal strawberries. Not sure I would recommend buying a cake here. This was my first and last time doing so.

We have no good bakeries in our area and I found Abbate on line. I have Ben ordering regular shipments of their cookies and goodies and they are top notch. Also shout out to Jennifer who offers amazing customer service. Good old school cookies and delicious crumb cake. They pack well for shipping and I have been very pleased. Great bakery.

The cookies are the best! Even though I moved to another area of the state, the bakery has a delivery service second to none . The vanilla biscuits are the best that I ever had and their prices are very reasonable for the quality. I just ordered the rustic sourdough bread from their new ovens and it is comparable to the best NYC bakeries.

This bakery did a phenomenal job on my daughter's Sweet 16 Halloween themed cake! We showed the designers a couple of pictures of what we wanted and it came out amazing. The filling of dark chocolate cake/pudding were just as amazing and delicious. Everyone at the party raved about it and I'm sure we got them some future customers. Thank you to the team at Abbate for making our party even more special!

Over the past few years, I have gotten a few special occasion cakes from Abbate Bakery and each one has been a work of art that is equally delicious. The most recent was my wedding cake, which was absolute breathtaking. I came to Abbate Bakery with a few ideas with reference photos and Lindsay pulled the elements together to make my vision a reality. She helped advise my husband and I on what would work best and also helped us to decide what flavors would be best for the occasion. Our guests had nothing but great things to say.

I hail from Brookly where we have the best Italian bakeries you have ever been graced. When I moved here to New Jersey, I wasn't so sure I would ever find another bakery like the ones from Brooklyn. I was so heartbroken. There will never be bakeries as good as the ones in Brooklyn. Well, I can always admit when I am wrong and enter Abbate Bakery. This family owned Italian bakery originated from Brooklyn. They opened this bakery in Matawan, NJ and we can now save travel time and all the money from tolls and come here. Talk about the convenience!

I had a very nice lady. She was helpful and friendly, very conversant and told me about growing up in Italy.
I got croissants and crumb cake. The baked goods pleased all my senses. I brought them to work and all my fellow coworkers enjoyed them as well.
We will be back during Christmas to get a cake.

Quite a tasty treat in Matawan. Every pastry, bread, or sweet has been terrific. Their lintzer tarts are humongous and extremely tasty. Big fan of all their breads and cookies and they hold up extremely well. Their prices are also very fair and will take the time to show you what is available.
Excellent service, friendly staff, and is extremely easy to find off of 516 or 79 or wherever you might be in the area, but this place is a must stop if you're looking for a nice cookie or something to bring you about. It's hard to find a place that rivals it in Matawan.
