Breathe Deeply welcomes each client individually. Caring, knowledgeable certified instructors give hour long private sessions addressing your unique body type & progress. Your personal strengths, level of focus, motivation & areas requiring extra work are all considered in your workout design. Summer discovered Pilates by accident - literally - after injuring her shoulder in a snowboarding incident, a co-worker recommended she try Pilates. She had never heard of it, but was desperately seeking a way out of the chronic pain. She found Nicole Duke at Balanced Body Fitness and never looked back.
Summer is wonderful! I was considering surgery to fix a herniated disc, but then I started pilates with her, and I've had very little back pain since. I'm able to do all my other activities - soccer, snowboarding, gardening, things that my back pain had periodically prevented me from doing. Summer puts a lot of thought into creating each workout to best meet my needs.
Pilates is an innovative system of mind-body exercise evolved from the principles of Joseph Pilates. Pilates dramatically transforms the way your body looks, feels and performs, building strength without excess bulk. It teaches body awareness, good posture and easy, graceful movement. Pilates improves flexibility, agility and economy of motion.

My first venture into indoor exercise since the pandemic & so happy I did! The studio was very clean and proper covid protocol so I felt safe. First time working out in a mask but wasn't so bad. I took a Group apparatus class, (my first Pilates class) with Jenny & she's such a fantastic teacher. Patient, explained how to use the equipment properly and give corrections when needed. I'm officially hooked on Pilates now!

I don't have enough superlative adjectives in my vocabulary to describe Summer and Cody. The private, duo and group in person sessions were amazing. I was concerned that the Zoom platform would decrease the viability of the sessions, but you really can't get away with improper form. Summers ability to cue and humorously correct form is professional and just plain spectacular! I attribute my flexibility and positivity in large part to my almost daily practice of Pilates with Summer and Cody.

My wife convinced me that I should take a trio group of Pilates at BDP with her. To say I was hesitant to go was an understatement. I have a history of back surgery, knee and ankle surgery. Here I am almost a year later still taking the class with Cody. She is awesome, she explains all the moves and what the benefits are, every appointment she asks how our body is feeling and works that appointment around our latest pain. Can't say enough positive things about Cody. My range of body movements are better than they have been in years.

Hmm...do I write honestly and chance Breathe Deeply gets flooded with new customers making it harder to book sessions or do I selfishly trash 'em to turn customers unjustifiably away so I can get MY sessions? Hmm. I have to go with the former and take my chances. Pilates makes me feel alive. And Breathe Deeply is my ticket to a more vibrant life. May I not regret being honest!

With over 35 years in the fitness industry, I can say that Summer and her staff are top notch. The studio is always immaculate and they keep things very professional. But their, teaching is like no other I have experienced in Pilates. They are continually being trained themselves. I went to them for 4 years while living in the Aptos area and my body has missed them the past year and half, as I have moved away. So for me, being in isolation in Tahoe and to be able to practice with them once again on Zoom has been a complete game changer for me. I cannot say enough good things. Thank you Summer and

Breathe Deeply is more than Pilates; it is also a place to work on body realignment and strength to address chronic issues. The first time I went there, I was afraid that as a Rubenesque boomer I'd feel out of place. No way. Everyone was welcoming and respectful and I was delighted to be in the company of other people in my demographic and condition, as well as younger, fitter people.
I've been having extraordinarily helpful private sessions with Cody Jussel. Cody is the right trainer for me. She is a highly educated corrective/adaptive movement professional with deep knowledge in kinesiology

This is a quality place. The instructors are professional, friendly and always concerned for the welfare of their students. Summer is awesomely intuitive about the body and offers workarounds and exercises for improving chronic issues. I love exercising while laying down (!) and always enjoy my time there.

The quality of instruction is excellent at Breathe Deeply. I have found the classes that challenge me the right amount and am so pleased with the results: balanced strength. The atmosphere at the studio is warm and friendly. At the same time, classes are very focused. I get other forms of exercise, but nothing gets in the way of me attending my Pilates classes!

I am new to Pilates and selected this studio on the basis of reviews and locality. I was extremely impressed by my first sessions with Summer Doty. She listened to my long list of injuries and tuned into my body right away. I am hardly a spring chicken and I thought she was great in working with my aging body. It is a very clean, bright studio, with extremely knowledgeable instructors. Everyone is so positive and supportive. It is a great studio.

I am an old, fat woman who never played any sport (okay, maybe a little hockey in high school) and had no kinesthetic sense at all, just a bad back and a big whine. After just a few months at Breathe Deeply, I am stronger and better balanced, even a bit taller! And I am enjoying the workouts. Summer is amazing, with an eye for her students' condition, their strengths and weaknesses, and she has both the intuition and the skills to help clients make the improvements they need for better bodies and better health. Summer pushes, but I have never felt unsafe, although I still might whine at a routine

I've been doing pilates with Summer (owner/instructor) for many years. I had terrible back pain on and off and she cured it with. Summer is a pleasure to train with and she keeps the workouts interesting week after week. She attends trainings and workshops to educate herself on the latest and greatest and always has some cool new exercise to try. I've watched the other instructors with their clients and they seem great too.

Michelle uses multiple disciplines to strengthen and develop the body, focusing on developing healthy systems and lasting benefits. She is especially skilled to work with those having physical impairments and challenges such as stroke or injury recovery. It was easy and fun to achieve the fitness level I was looking for. Always something new. You literally laugh through the entire workout. I love Michelle!
