Under the direction of Anna Madden, with her degree in Pastry Arts from the New York Restaurant School, Something Sweet began as a dessert shop featuring some light lunches. As the Cafe grew and Downtown Middletown became a magnet for young professionals to live, Anna and her husband, Dave, found a need for a more expansive menu.
Lunches became heartier. Dinner was added. An additional dining room was added. Something Sweet Cafe is now the place to come for an eclectic mix of American entrees, many offering hints of Anna's Italian heritage. Still recognized for our expansive dessert selection, you can enjoy dinner and dessert with a glass of wine selected from a wine list that includes many Hudson Valley wineries.

Whether you're ringing in 2021 or ringing out 2020, let Something Sweet prepare your dinner tonight! Treat yourself and your family to a special Easter Sunday dinner. A charcuterie board to start, a choice of pasta dish, ready to bake, for the main course, and a decadent dessert. Our very special menu will be available from 5 - 9:30 on Friday and Saturday of Valentine's Weekend, and it is ala carte, so you can order exactly what you want.
A pint or quart of our famous cranberry chicken salad. Oven baked chicken breast, with dried cranberries, caramelized walnuts, red onion, celery and mayo. Pint serves 3 and a quart serves 6. Smoked gouda cheese, aromatic vegetables and sweet potato cubes compliment the high-protein grain, quinoa. This full size cake will serve 6-8.
