HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! Unless you are absolutely desperate, do NOT get an apartment here. There's a serious bug problem, for one. Number two, the appliances break ALL THE TIME. Every time maintenance came to fix something, another thing would break. The leasing office agents are extremely rude. If you call the office, 9x out of 10 nobody will answer the phone, even though they are definitely in the office. Tiara (the African American agent) was the only one that was professional and always sweet. One time I called the office and walked over to it at the same time. When I got to the door I

There have been numerous issues throughout our stay in Charter Oak. There are major issues with the waterline and as such the hot water was shut off multiple times a month with little to no notice. The maintenance entered our apartment multiple times with absolutely no notice, and they didn't even leave a note. We only noticed that someone had been in our apartment after we saw that the issue we submitted was resolved. Additionally our neighbor had a pipe burst in the middle of the night, but nobody would answer the emergency maintenance number and he ended up having to call the fire department

I believe I've been too generous giving one star. this is my second year here and I totally regret that I renewed my lease. The most unprofessional management and staff team here, there is no proper communication and correspondence for maintenance and concerns. they keep sending aggressive letters to the doors with a short timeline for their new policies. I used to have a designated parking area and it was part of an agreement to be free of charge if there's only one car per household, they started charging me 15$ for the same parking area without even giving ahead of time notice, I just

I have lived here almost three years and it has gone waaaay done since new management. DONT MOVE HERE! The parking is the worst I have seen anywhere. I live at the very end and find myself having to park on the street because they apparently allow free parking to anyone in what used to be permit parking. I assure you this will be my last year here. Also, the amount I pay plus no parking, minus any amenities...what does this place really have to offer? Im telling you, find somewhere else to live.

I lived here for 2 years and was generally happy with it. Great location and the complex itself is quiet and well maintained. I had an apartment that hadn't been updated, so the fixtures were older, but they still worked. Maintenance is responsive when there's a problem. Lots of pill bugs in the apartment, but rarely anything else (but I have a cat and a dog, so maybe that helped), and they do exterminate every so often. For the area and what you're getting, rent is reasonable. Office staff is generally nice and easy to deal with. They built the dog park in my first year, and while

Service at Charter Oak has always been great. The upkeep is great - stairs and landings are frequently cleaned, sidewalks are kept clean, the garbage and recycling areas are always tidy. We moved here from a nearby condo and I now realize just how bad the upkeep there was. Keep up the great work.

Save your money and rent elsewhere. AVOID this disgraceful place.

Charter Oak is the biggest scam in Reston.

Just a few of the issues my wife and I encountered while living at this joke of an apartment complex for two years:

1) Within a month of moving in, we had a mouse infestation. In our kitchen we apparently had a hole in the wall under the stove, and I caught 6 mice within a week period. Charter Oak's exterminators were unable to solve the problem, as we were on the basement level, and their idea of "extermination" was to put mesh over the hole. As I caught more mice,

We only lived in this complex for 4 months when our house sold earlier than our new house was ready but the only good quality about the complex is its location!

My husband and I rented one of the "upgraded" one bedroom apartments. It looks nice at first but was upgraded with cheap, low quality materials. For example, the coating on the shower/tub started to peel after first use.

The biggest scam of the complex is the utility bills! We paid more for utilities in a one bedroom apartment than we did in the 5 bedroom house we had just moved out of!! I called the utility company and they

I was moving in on Apr 2016. Some accidents happened. The staff was always helping me to figure out those small issues. They response, they help and they improve. And the environment and neighborhood are always great. After all, it's a good experience to live here.

I have lived here for 3 years and it seems to be getting worse each year but the location is great! It is within walking distance of the Reston Town Center with it's many restaurants and shopping. Other than that there is a lot to be desired. If definately wouldn't rate it as a luxury apartment.
Pros:
1.It is close to the RTC,
2. There are several buses and is near the Silver Line.
3. It is located on the Hidden Creek Golf Course which gives a nice view.
4. The community is very dog friendly.

Cons: This is a very old complex. While there have been many renovations supporting

Horrible management. Would not recommend to anyone!!
They take holding fee and send welcome letter and then later inform that the apartment is not available. Beware!!

The community here is great, that's a good start. The leasing staff is down to earth and kind, I've never had any issues with them. Most of the time, they're just people doing there jobs and have to deal with residents complaining and yelling all day at them for something that's not their fault. On the plus side, the golf course provides a great view, and the apartment IS very close to the Reston Town Center.

Now for the negative side.

1. I seriously don't know why this place is still operational. Since we've moved in less than six months ago we've found a barrage

So I didn't have the same issues that Eric did - my unit was one of the "upgraded" units so perhaps it had some of these issues addressed before I moved in. Let me just state for the record that the "updated" cabinets are a vinyl faux wood covering and the washer/dryer is in the middle of the kitchen but I was only there for five months so I was willing to deal with some things that I wouldn't have been ok with for a longer lease.

The units themselves: The windows are old and jenky and there was a stinkbug issue - I was constantly finding them in my apartment
