Friendly, honest, and helpful service. I'm used to having to be a bit on guard when taking my vehicle to the mechanic, but not with this shop. The manager is super helpful, honest, and upfront with what work needs done, why, and how much it will costs. I have an old car that is in bad shape, and when inspecting it he was very honest about safety issues he saw, and what options there were to resolve them. This is a small busy shop, but you will get quality service by people who genuinely care about their customers.

Brought my old corolla in for a regular service a few weeks ago. It was the first check-up since I moved to Seattle, and I'm quite happy to become a loyal customer :) ... as others mentioned, they are super professional, upfront and honest. Found a few small issues with my vehicle, and Cedar was clear about my options, the costs and their suggestions.

I needed an inspection before a cross country move, so I tried these guys because they were within walking distance of my place. Easily the best service I've gotten from a mechanic. They gave me information on every nook and cranny of my car. Just super knowledgable and way more thorough than I'm used to for this kind of service. The mechanic was really genuinely friendly and personable, and he was clearly passionate about the work and doing the best job possible. If I still lived in the area I'd always take my car here for service.

Called in to check the price of new seals on my intake manifold. Easy job, should take about 1-1.5 hours. Chrysler's website says this fix should cost between $250-350, including labor. The guy from this garage says impossible to give me a quote, is laughing and told me to find another garage. I will. The guy didn't know I worked as a mechanic for a decade. I know he's giving me lies. Will never use them. DO NOT TRUST.

Honestly this is one of THE BEST automotive repair shops I have EVER used. Cedar was exceptionally polite and professional. He was 110% transparent about the repairs needed for my manual car and even beat another quote by $400! The other repair shop was about to drain my wallet on fees that even he said made no sense. If you're looking for someone who is going to be upfront and not upsell you OR add ridiculous fees this is definitely the place to go. Ask for Cedar! Tell him Lauren sent you!

Took my Fusion in awhile back to get regular maintenance done. Cedar called me and let me know that they found an issue with the driveshaft throwing grease during the inspection. Was upfront and transparent about my options for replacing it since it was likely to be more than the value of my car. Since everything else looked fine and it seemed like I just got a lemon from Ford, we agreed to replace the part. Instead of simply going with a replacement from Ford, Cedar went to work looking for good quality replacements that were cheaper and saved me a few hundred bucks as well as a big headache.

Bernie's staff helped us when in a pinch! Cedar was above and beyond helpful, knowledgable, and understanding when we had to deal with a minor repair of a rental car that we had to turn in later that day. He turned it around quickly and even suggested we check out the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, or Ballard Locks, while we waited. I was already impressed with his great service of the car but that suggestion of visiting the Ballard Locks was a wonderful silver lining to the whole situation of a minor repair. Thank you, Cedar, for a wonderful experience!

Best mechanic I've ever been to! My car drives just as good as the day I got it now. Cedar was super friendly and spent the time to walk over the estimate in detail with me and even show me the worn/broken parts they replaced. The prices were also very reasonable. Highly recommend if you need repairs in Ballard!!

I received an estimate for a major repair from my usual mechanic, and wanted to do some due diligence and get a second opinion on the price. I spoke with Cedar, who was extremely helpful and friendly. He confirmed that it was a good price and talked through some of the details of that type of repair with me. Bernie's has been great! We had our oil changed at a different shop who told us our 2015 Jeep needed a lot of repairs. Being skeptical we decided to take it somewhere else for a second opinion. Bernie's did a full inspection and nothing was really wrong. They were also very open about their recommendations for what they would or wouldn't do for maintenance or what should be done sooner versus things that could wait a little bit. Very genuine people and even got us in on super short notice. Will definitely be taking our car back!
