Pilates is an amazing, complete, and corrective system of exercise, created by a man that George Balanchine called a 'genius of the body': Joseph Pilates. A German immigrant, Joe came to the US in 1926 and settled in New York City with his partner Clara. There they ran his "Studio for Body Contrology" for 50 years until his death in 1967 at age 83.
Chair Pilates is the little, big secret of Pilates training. Also called the wunda chair, this little known exercise equipment is gaining popularity as newer, challenging exercises emerge. This Pilates tool has been around since Joseph Pilates. His original design made it feasible to use the chair in your living room while you're with company, then converted into a work out devise by night.
Some might argue that mat Pilates is the most challenging Pilates work you'll ever do. Bringing your body and a mat, we accomplish movements that challenge you to greater heights using only your body as resistance. Controlled and fluid movements, along with using your unilateral breathing, all together influence your success.
Total Body Resistance Exercise is fitness using your own body weight for resistance. You can leverage your body to make it a cinch or more arduous - it's your call. Using the TRX, which was developed by former Navy SEAL Randy Hetrick, increases strength, balance, flexibility and core stability simultaneously.

If you want high quality, extremely knowledgeable, kind, and compassionate private pilates instruction, you have found the right teacher.
I've been going to Elizabeth 2x/week for reformer pilates instruction and every functional issue I have (tight hip flexors, weak abductors, neck arthritis) she is able to tailor my practice to meet my specific needs.
She provides suggestions on what I can do outside of the sessions to live a better life i.e. what to watch for when I'm driving, home exercises to help with relieving my pain and help re-train my body.

Elizabeth is genuinely kind and caring and listens to your concerns. She is knowledgeable and an expert in her domain. The beauty about Elizabeth is that her pilates class is not only about body image, but also about health and quality of life. I am an RN and suffered from low back pain and Plantar fasciitis. She literally had the knowledge and skill to bring me back to health and balance. She truly cares about your wellbeing. I highly recommend Graceful Pilates!

Elizabeth is AWESOME to work with. I had surgery on my foot and have been laid up for 4 months which caused me to gain a lot of weight. Feeling very insecure, not wanting to go to a gym, I booked her for a private lesson. Best choice I ever made. She knew how to work my foot while also working the rest of my body. She’s warm, funny and knowledgeable in her field. I feel like I met a new best friend who’s kicks my butt and truly cares. Anyone who feels very insecure about themselves, you’ll be comfortable here. I recently retired from a desk job after 30 years. Much to my surprise, I found myself in a lot of pain - wrist, shoulder and back pain were expected, but also foot pain from a sudden departure from constantly wearing three inch heels. I heard about Pilates and that it might be able to help my ailments due to all the stretching that you do in class. I have been practicing Pilates for several years and love the way Elizabeth handles her clients and focuses on your form. She consistently changes up the routines and gives "full-body" workouts. My goal is to get back into shape and toned. I have already seen a change in just 2 months. Elizabeth makes it fun while she stresses safety, monitoring anyone's special medical or physical limitations.

Elizabeth is fantastic at what she does! She is passionate about pilates and health and wellness and truly wants to help you to be your best self. You will never have the same session twice and I love how she will push you a bit further than you think you are capable to make sure you will achieve the results that you want. Every time I workout with Elizabeth at Graceful Pilates I feel so strong and energized, it's addictive! She is such a gifted instructor and keeps things challenging and new each time, always giving great pointers for improving form along the way. Her home studio has a totally comforting spa vibe. There is a great variety of equipment and the time flies so fast. This is what happens when you actually enjoy the ride!

Elizabeth is the most amazing instructor and person! She helped me with losing weight and getting myself ready for my wedding last summer. I lost almost 30lbs, toned and gained core strength I had never been able to before. Most importantly, Elizabeth helped teach me self confidence and encouraged me every step of the way!
