Est. in 2007, Ball Square Cafe delivers an exceptional breakfast and lunch experience 7 days a week, by a dedicated staff led by owners Mike Moccia and Omar Djebbouri. The Cafe offers an intimate setting with a unique, self-serve coffee and beverage station that allows for an efficient, do-it-yourself method, tailored to keep your on-the-go lifestyle in motion.
Shaved steak sauteed with peppers and onions, poached eggs over a bed of Omar's grilled mashed topped with our homemade *hollandaise sauce and served with Grilled Corn Muffin. Our Challah Bread French Toast is served with Homemade Whipped Cream and/or Powdered Sugar. You may add any topping or purchase a Side of French Toast (prices may vary).
Please understand that we may not reply immediately or we might be full staffed at the present time. Please note that employees must have open availability during holidays and weekends. We are only open during the hours of 6:30am to 3:00pm, meaning shifts are only available early-morning to mid-afternoon.

Ball Square Cafe is a must for breakfast whether you live in the area, or just visiting. Mike runs an amazing restaurant, and is the nicest! This place is always packed with a line, but you can grab your order to go if needed.

For a Sunday morning, the wait wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. My party of 4 waited about 20 minutes to be seated. We were promptly sat and given menus as well as water.
We ordered three eggs benedicts, a breakfast plate, and the tri-berry french toast. The food was super yummy and filling. I've never had grilled mash before and it was so good. My only complaint is that all of our eggs in our eggs benedicts were not poached. We were expecting a nice runny yolk when we cut through the eggs, but instead it was a solid yolk. My family and I love the food at ball sq cafe. However today I had an unpleasant experience with the staff which was saddening. I arrived with a party of 3. I'm 9 months pregnant and had my daughter wait outside in the car because it was raining. When I arrived I (myself) was seated. Quickly I ran outside to grab my daughter, while my husband parked the cAr. Once seated with my 3 yo daughter. I was looking for a place to have breakfast, and once again thanks to the ratings and comments that people write about their experiences in different places, I found this restaurant. Only had one complaint very exspensive for two people to eat breakfast almost $60 and we didn’t get anything that should be that expensive no steak tips . I almost always judge a breakfast place by their corned beef hash,so of course that is what I ordered. I also ordered a side pancake because why not?

Excellent place for breakfast and brunch! It was our second visit and won't be the last. That are quick, efficient and nice. Be sure to arrive early and be ready for a wait ouro. It'll move quickly and it's definitely worth it! Very large menu and reasonably priced. Probably a top breakfast place in the area!

Ball square cafe NEVER disappoints. From the food to service, everything was S+. I drive all the way here from the south shore it is the perfect brunch spot. Everything is cooked perfectly. If you get the smashed potatoes, ask for it extra crispy aka well done. It is PHENOMENAL. I love corn beef hash and was kinda surprised they don't have an pre set omelette with corn beef hash (you can certainly make your own) but the eggs benedict with corn beef hash was amazing. DEFINITELY come early so you can get a seat as well, but i don't mind waiting for a table it's that good.

Place gets very busy often with a line of people waiting outside on the weekends. No reservations so I’d get here on the earlier side. That said, food is good. Interior is nothing special, but staff is friendly and it’s a great local spot.
I enjoy the beef bacon which sets them apart. The grilled mashed potatoes is also somewhat of a novelty. Fresh OJ is always a plus.

One of the better cafes for breakfast and lunch in Somerville (near edge of Medford). Great friendly staff and serving up large and tasty dishes and execute well for takeout. I'm a fan of their breakfast especially. Most recently I tried their Steak and Cheese omelet with 'Grilled' mashed potatoes (give it a try!). It is really unfortunate I have to write a bad review since the staff seemed friendly and nice. I had the caramelized banana and strawberry waffle. Putting a huge load of extremely hot caramel syrup on banana and strawberry made the fruits taste rotten and also made the waffle saggy.
I was excited about this dish and trying this place, but my experience was not pleasant.

This is the best breakfast I have had in a while. We got the Mexican omelet, the meat lovers omelet, coconut french toast, and some freshly squeezed orange juices. Omelets were huge. Three of us were able to share two of those omelets, and we were all pretty stuffed. I refrained from trying that coconut french toast, but I tried a small bite of it as one of my friends told me that it was super good. I took a bite of it and I quickly realized he was not lying. That toast was heavenly. All in all, this is a fantastic place for a signature breakfast meal.

Decided to eat here few weeks back as we were in the area. This time we absolutely loved it. The service was great and they were very accommodating when we wanted to change tables (the first table had a cold draft coming in). The food seems to have gotten even better and our waffles, omelets and home fries were made to perfection! The whipped cream they give was to die for (apparently it is made in house and has ZERO added sugar)! The restaurant has been renovated and had such a nice vibe to it. They maintained all the covid protocols. Honestly, we cannot wait to come back!

Ordered breakfast for takeout via phone & my food was ready in 20 min. The pick-up process was very smooth, and the servers were very friendly and professional. I'm not the biggest fan of french toast, but I got the famous coconut macaroon french toast since everyone on Yelp raved about it... and boy did it deliver!
