The staff here took great care of us on a busy Saturday. Bruce even assembled a Giant Cypress in my size because they didn't have a model readily available. We ended up choosing a Giant Escape Comfort 3, and they added a more comfortable seat that we purchased. I cannot recommend this store strongly enough, trust me you should go!

Fast, friendly and affordable. Needed a quality bike in a pinch, and I walked away a happy customer. They offer a year of tune-up services and recommend a 30-day "break-in" tune-up. A trust worthy local business perfect for families with kids.

Bruce quickly fixed the issue with my rear shifter, at a great price. He left the bike shifting better than before. The bike feels better than new!

I've only been to Takoma Bicycle once, and haven't even seen the inside of the store, but was so impressed that I immediately wanted to give them five stars. The shop is currently open for business but implementing impressive COVID restrictions with all-outdoors repairs (masked, of course). This works well for a bike shop regardless as it's easy and efficient to just pull up front and have your bike worked on. I had badly damaged handlebar pads and had purchased the replacements myself but needed help with installation. Having previously been quoted $30+ for this swap I had held

We recently bought bikes here and couldn't be happier with the bikes and service. We called ahead to confirm two models were available that we wanted to try. They had to build one of them, but it was ready the next day. The owner told us to come back if we needed any adjustments. After a week, I noticed a small defect in one of the tires, and they replaced it immediately with no questions. Thank you!

They do bike repairs but with limited hours. They still are open for retail. And they are amazing. Very quick, courteous, and professional.

Amazing service. Huge selection of products... and the friendliest crew in town. I highly recommend them even during this crazy period. Bruce took the time to talk to me on the phone, assembled the bike and had it ready in a day. I highly recommend this shop.

Bruce helped me find the right bike lever replacement! He even took the time to bring out a bike with the same levers and explained how to install the levers. Really glad to have this neighborhood shop!

Upgrading to five stars because this bike shop has consistently proved to be reliable in terms of having what I need (or being able to order quickly), providing great customer service, and doing quick fixes in a pinch. They set up an extensive online store during the pandemic and provided responsive and quick customer service (email and phone) to help me find the part I needed and had it ready for pickup within hours of ordering.

Don't waste your time at this shop. I stopped by to get some gear and saw that they were online pick up only. I called the number to ask a question...no answer. I ran the bell because the worker inside clearly saw me at the door. He looked right at me and even walked pass the door. No response. At a minimum he could have answered my question via their RING bell as I would have placed an order online at that time with no problem. They won't ever get a dime from me!!!

Stopped in twice to check out bikes and ended up finding a great match. My past experiences in other DC-area bike shops were not great, but this was a pleasant, no-pressure process. Bruce was helpful, patient, and knowledgeable.

Five stars!
As everyone knows who has owned a bicycle in DC, finding an honest bike repair shop is harder than finding an honest used car salesman. After several bad experiences elsewhere, I decided to try Takoma Bicycle for a major repair (broken axle). A different place had opined that I would need a new wheel ($200). Bruce took a look and said he would see if the axle could be replaced, or if I would need a new wheel. I appreciated his honesty. He asked if I would leave the bike there until tomorrow, and I was happy to do so.

To my surprise, I got a text a few hours later saying the bike

I wanted a bike immediately and found this place online and went to see if they have any. I found one that I liked and they set it up in the next one hour and gave it to me. They were very friendly and they have nice collection. They said they do not have any riding groups though, which was disappointing. But the over all experience was pleasant.

This is a great local, independent bike shop with an attentive, talented staff. I have been taking my multiple bikes here over the years for complete tune-ups and on-the-fly adjustments. Yesterday I had a bit of grinding as I was biking into town, stopped by, and one of the mechanics cheerfully checked things over, cleaned the chain, lubed the gear rings, and sent me on my way after just a few minutes, with a bike that worked perfectly. Even if I had to travel some distance to go there, I would.

Took my bike last week to get it tuned, the bike brakes were squishy, brakes were rubbing the tire rims, and the gears were a mess. I got it back and my gosh what a difference! there are gears I didn't even know I had and the brakes are perfect. Rides like buttaahhh!

They also did a safety check and fixed a few minor things all for an unbelievably low price. They had it ready for me in 3 days, although when i went to pick it up they had a sign up that they weren't taking new tune ups due to increased demand. Phew so glad I got my bike in.

Great work and would go back again

Experienced cyclist, close by ; went to the shop based on the positive reviews. Wow. I was quite willing to leave my bike, didn't expect in-the-moment service; was told that they couldn't even accept any more bikes because they were overloaded. This should not be a customer's problem; clearly the manager does not have or assign enough staff. I suspect that the good reviews bring in business - usually so ! - but the shop is resting on its past laurels. So I went (again) to Proteus, a bit farther, but well worth it as they always welcome and appreciate customers.

This is a wonderful Bicycle shop. I came here twice for bike repairs. The first time was a couple of years ago to change the tubes on my TREK 7500 HYBRID and most recently two days ago after I tried to replace the stem on my Giant ocr c2 road bike at home and failed to remove the cap on the original stem. I came to the shop late in the afternoon, no appointment as I had a bike party the following day. They were able to mount the stem and put a spacer in less than an hour, eventhough I've forgotten the part I bought and had to run back home. The young man not only did a great job on my bike

This a good shop with good mechanics.

I brought my bike that had been turned away from one shop because they didn't know how to do the work, and from another because they did the work wrong, and these guys took care of it and fixed it properly. They also told me what was up and told me that if their fix didn't cover it after 60 miles to bring it back and they'd fix it for free.

It's hard to find a good shop. I think this is a good one and I'll take my 3 of my bikes here for service.

I normally don't go to Takoma Park at all and there's even a bike shop near where I live. However, Takoma Bicycle's great reviews convinced me to go here and I'm glad I did! So many people on bikes around this quaint town, and the staff at the shop (customers too!) are so friendly.

I had an issue with my brakes (problem 1) and this brought me to the store. Generally, to transport my bike, I remove the front tire and put the bike in the trunk. However, in doing so I then lost one of the parts that holds the tire to the bike (problem 2: now the tire won't stay on bike securely

Nice little bike shop! The vibe of Takoma park runs deep here too, which is to say it has some nice charm. Local owned shop. Been here for 7 years and everyone I talked to here was very warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable. I also very much appreciated the fact that when I showed them my "beater bike" they didn't immediately tell me all the repairs that I think other bike shops would. I like that they were honest and told me the basic things that would be needed rather than everything that could possibly be replaced.
They were also very knowledgeable about their accessories like
