Services
It's cool to go fast, but it's only fun if you're comfortable. Sadly, speed and comfort rarely come together, but the Turbo Como 3.0 650b is out to change that. With a comfortable geometry, a sleek, stylish design, and our exclusive, award-winning technology, you'll get an extra jolt of power that'll make riding just as fun as it is functional.
Don't get us wrong, we're all for racing. Grand Tour top steps, Classic's Monuments-they're in our DNA. But sometimes riding simply to ride, riding for the love of riding, is just what we need. And this is what the Aethos lives for. Sure, it's given nothing up to performance, and happens to be the lightest frame out there, but with no compromise to style.
The Crossroads is your companion to a better, fitter, and happier you-whether it be along the road or dirt path. It features a comfortable, upright geometry and reflective elements that increase your visibility to motorists in low-light conditions. On this Crossroads, you'll find Nimbus II Armadillo Reflect tires that all but eliminate flat tires, while still providing plenty of traction.

BBRight Outboard bottom bracket for use with 24mm spindle diameter cranksets. The two machined aluminum cups thread together ensuring the bottom bracket remains stable in the frame, increasing bearing life, and simplifying maintenance. This means no more creaking, smoother operation, longer bearing life, and really quick bearing replacement.

These guys are awesome ! Bought a new bike and it had some issues. Took it in and Ben was simply great. I'm also new to biking so he helped me get fitted out with stuff ( helmet bike shorts shirt).
No one was pushy and just great help.
Would recommend and definitely go again for when I need pedals.
The shop is cool later back and a very happy and cool office dog running around. He doesn't t need pets but he seems happy to receive them.
Very happy customer.

The sales staff is perfectly fine. My review is for the bike fitter (Torr). You pay an arm and leg for this fitting but the follow up from him is flat out awful. Literally took 4 emails to him in order for him to respond and even when he did he didnt even answer all the questions.

The fitting itself was ok. I felt he half assed a couple things during the fitting that could have had other implications.

Was suppose to have a follow up to finish up my fitting but found out he left his job. Now im basically 80% done with my fitting and will probably have to pay for another one if i want my fitting

I came here and bought a Specialized Sirrus 2.0 and took it out for a test ride. I made a bad turn, slipped, and scraped up my arm and leg. I returned back bleeding and the associate helping me wasn't sure what to do, so she turned to another associate (who seemed like a manager).

Not only did he ignore how I was, the first thing he told me was that I needed to pay for the bike becsuse it had been damaged. I understand I made a mistake and that I need to pay for damages, but do you really want to do business with a place that doesn't care about their customers?

The mechanics here did a GREAT job with an emergency repair I needed. I've been on a 6-day, 300-mile bike ride all around SF Bay. The cable for my rear derailleur broke, making it impossible to shift on the freewheel. I called the shop and they told me to come in. They did the fix in around 10 mins. even though the shifters are integrated into my brake lever and doesn't strike me as an easy repair. Cognition had me quickly back on the road, and I am happy to highly recommend their services!

Nice showroom with a good selection of bikes. Nice selection of bike accessories as well. Downstairs is apparel and shoes, but it's a disaster of merchandise that nobody seems to care about. No selection of sizes and no prices on items. Since the employees are upstairs there is no way to get assistance downstairs. Don't bother going downstairs and you will be happy with the shop.

I took two bikes to Cognition for tune up. They looked at the bikes and said it'd be $120 tune up each plus one chain, and they could cut a seat post if too high for my wife.

I picked up the bikes 3 weeks later, and was told that all were as was good as new.

Problems:

· Estimate was way off: was billed for $400.

· They couldn't cut the seat post as promised, and told me to go buy one at Amazon and fix it myself.

· They returned a bike without checking tire pressure: back half flat and rim touched floor when I sat down.

· back brakes didn't grip despite full squeeze.

New bike day today, thanks Ben! I knew what I wanted (stumpy evo :) and the friendly staff and environment sealed the deal. Stoked on my purchase but elevated to another level knowing I have a place to take it when it needs assistance.

Bought a few bikes here, initially the service was fine, even good...now though, things have changed. Lots of employees have an attitude and will talk down to you if you ask a question. Even worse is that 4 out of 5 times when I brought in my bike with a simple mechanical problem, they were unable to fix it properly. For example, when asked to fix a squeaky handlebar they decided to just tighten the screw, over torquing it and destroying the internal bearings.

I stopped by here after the Fourth of July holiday weekend to upgrade the wheel set on my road bike. I didn't make an appointment but Edgar and Mark at the service department squeezed me into their schedule. These days, with bike shops so overwhelmed with demand, Edgar and Mark really went above and beyond to accommodate my time frame. Thank you both!

I bought my 2020 Specialized Epic Evo there and they have taken care of me ever since.
I ride the bike hard and wether it's warranty or help fixing a part I screwed up like the cassette and derailleur they have come through with quick fixes which has not been easy to get in the pandemic.
I will continue bringing it there, Edgar and the team do a great job

The wheels on the bike go round & round....

Cognition Cyclery was a great shop to frequent and look around at expensive bikes and check out the newer technologies (e-bikes, etc.).. They recently shut down their MV location and moved to San Mateo. I'll have to go further to keep checking them out, but I'm sure I will as the staff there really knows their stuff.

Just picked up my Specialized Aethos! The service and build was amazing and spot on.
I highly recommend getting a bike fit by Torr Hage. I've been cycling for over 20 years and thought I had a good fit. His expertise and knowledge greatly improved my comfort and increased my power. Gotta love the power meter!

Absolutely great service, Ben is incredibly helpful and each time I have called he has helped me with any request I had. Just recently they have fixed my MTB above and beyond what they were supposed to do. Edgar and Max from the service were incredibly helpful. I would highly recommend Cognition Cyclery as a go to place for your bike needs.

Definitely one of the most complete all-around bike store in the Bay Area. They have top of the line Specialized road and mountain bikes in stock, a wide assortment of bike accessories and clothing attire, repair service and bike fitting. As impressive as that Is their customer service is top notch. A knowledgeable and friendly staff. As intimidating as walking into a bile shop with $15k bikes on display everyone here is always willing to help no matter the kind of bile or small the job. It's my one stop shop for all things road bike and mountain bike on the Peninsula.

It's hard to get a hold of them via phone or email. When I finally got a hold of them via phone, I was told to bring my bike in to get an estimate on the repair. I went in the next day.
After waiting 20 minutes outside the store, I was finally greeted by an employee who told me that I would have to wait 2 weeks for bike service/repairs. I promptly left. Wish they told me that piece of info on the call.

ROCK STAR STATUS!!!!

I was referred across to Cognition by a good friend of mine and at the time i was thinking "Hmmmmmm these guys are 50 mins away from me, seems a bit far!" BUT taking that drive was THE BEST DECISION EVER!! Torr, Taylor and the team truly are service superstars!! I got 100% customer service right from the start. It began with a pair of shoes and resulted in multiple pro bike fits and getting me race ready for RAAM 2021. (Race Across America)
The professional knowledge base, customer service and level of teamwork is OFF THE CHARTS!!
Regardless of where you live in

It's great that this place is taking precautions against that pandemic and that's why I'm giving them 2 stars instead of one.

I brought my bike in yesterday, because I believed my rear tire had a leak. Edgar Sanchez was at the service counter. He asked me to wait a couple of minutes while he finished a personal text on his mobile phone. When he was done he asked me about my issue. I told him about the leak on my rear tire. He said I would need to buy a couple of valves and some sealant which he asked me to get for him in the counter. He said it would cost me $126.91 to change the

First off I want to say that I worked at a bike shop during college, was sponsored by another and have frequented many bike shops over the years but by far my favorite is Cognition Cyclery in San Mateo.

I have many closer options but will make the drive just to buy from this specific crew. Somehow everyone at this store is focused on customer service from top to bottom and genuinely wants to make the experience awesome. I've now bought two bikes within the span of a few months from here.

My most recent purchase was a road bike. When I bought my new bike, I knew right away the stem

Torr is a fantastic bike fitter - you should not ride your road OR mountain bike without scheduling a fit with Torr.

I am a 5 foot tall, very athletic perfectionist with numerous injuries. My size means that nothing fits out of the box, even when it is supposedly made for very small people. While I love riding bikes, I have literally never had one that didn't hurt me, usually sooner rather than later. Mind you, these were high end, expensive bikes sold to me new, in high end expensive local bike shops.

I first came in to see Torr with a 47cm bike. It was more of a "comfort geometry

Always perfect. You don't need to go ANYWHERE else, but Cognition. Never had an issue these guys could not solve. From selecting, fitting and buying my bike at the best price in the Bay Area (and I've been to EVERY shop big and small) to maintenance, component installation and anything in between. Everyone is incredibly professional, yet friendly and down to earth. Not to mention the store is beautiful with a lovely ambiance.

Beautiful store, very modern. On actual bike service would give a solid B. Just picked up bike after tuneup and cleaned the chain, cassette but left out everything else below as the pictures show. Not bad but just average work. There is a lot of dirt in a drivetrain that was supposed to have been cleaned, serviced.

In the spirit of visiting a local establishment, I took in a family member's bike to purchase/install a kickstand, which should have been a simple task. I rode the bike ~3 miles from our house, and upon departing Cognition, I realized that neither the front nor the rear derailleur were functioning properly (the rear was locked in one gear), and both had worked fine on the ride to the store. Upon returning to the Cognition, one of the technicians realized that the rear derailleur cable was pinched when installing the kickstand. The technician wasn't apologetic, and in fact, was argumentative when

The place is nice, however we waited for 20 minutes to entry, after that we finally entered to pickup our new bike, the guy fit the saddle and gave us the receipt. But we were interested in buying another equipment like helmet, gear and bottles and nobody could help us, when we asked the guy just said: "go down stairs" and there nobody was attending. So for us it was a very bad service, after purchased a new bike.

Thanks goodness this place was open during the COVID-19 pandemic shelter in place!

Biking is one of the few things we can do safely and I need to keep my children physically active or they will be even more hyper and annoying than usual, so here we are. The 8-year-old's bike is way too small for him and the 10-year-old's bike gears are all jacked up.

Bikes are expensive! Ouch. But as my wise friend told me many years ago, you get what you pay for, and Specialized bikes are very high quality and last forever.

My children got new bikes, my bank account has been violated, and I inherited
