Community is at the heart of the LuHi experience. As a community we work together to bring out the best in each other and to ensure that all voices are heard and supported. Lifelong friendships are made here, and students, faculty, family, and alumni all enjoy rich, ongoing ties with our community.

We teach students how to acquire, connect, and apply knowledge to solve complex and interesting problems. Our students graduate not just having learned, but knowing how to learn. Opportunities for Christian service are provided both in and out of the classroom that actively engage students in the spirit of giving and help foster lifelong service to the community.
Services
Under the leadership of the Rev. Ed Stammel (Trinity Lutheran Church, Hicksville) and a group of dedicated pastors, 17 Lutheran congregations united in the late 1950's to found a Lutheran high school to serve the Long Island community. The newly formed Lutheran High School Association of Nassau and Suffolk Counties purchased the former Deering Howe Estate built in the 1920's as the site for the school.
LuHi is a faith-based, college preparatory school developing tomorrow's leaders. We empower every member of our close-knit community to achieve and grow personally, academically, and spiritually. As a parent of two daughters who attended LuHi and went on to become highly successful women, I can say it is so much more than just a school.
LuHi is a leading college preparatory school, serving students from 6th-12th grade, that provides affordable, independent, faith-based education. With an education at LuHi, students leave our campus fully prepared for the challenges of higher education. Visit our campus and see what a LuHi education looks like for your student!
The admissions process at LuHi is designed to help us identify students who will thrive in our school environment. We welcome applications from students who are bright, creative, and motivated. Register your student for an upcoming Entrance Exam by calling the Admissions Office at 516-626-1736. Test results will be sent to you via email within two weeks of the exam date.
Long Island Boarding offers international students a chance to attend LuHi, and the opportunity to benefit from the nurturing setting of a school managed dormitory. Teachers and staff at LuHi are dedicated to equipping international students for the challenges of high school and preparing them for the rigors of college.

Long Island Lutheran Middle & High School is more to me then just my work place. When I was 13, I first came to LuHi to watch my friends in their performance of "Little Shop of Horrors." I was instantly in love once my father turned the corner from Brookville Road to the scenic drive up to the school. After the school performance, teachers and students alike thanked the guests for coming and took the time to talk to, and get to know everyone there. The "LuHi Family Feel" everyone always talks about was so apparent in that very moment. It was then that I knew I belonged here. To this day, I can
