Long Island High School-The Arts
At LIHSA, emerging artists get the opportunity to explore and refine their talents in a one-of-a-kind, master apprentice, arts-centered community. Nestled in Syosset, NY, students learn in a safe and supportive environment where they can pursue their artistic passion and discover who they are as individuals and as artists.

On stage, in the studio, and in classrooms, students learn from a dedicated team of teachers, all of whom are accomplished artists and performers. Each program offers independent projects and field trips and brings world-class artists to the School to conduct master classes. The Performing Arts pathway focuses on the direct creation of art and entertainment by the individual artist through mediums such as dance, theatre, and music.
Services
For over forty-five years, this amazing public high school program has transformed the lives of young emerging artists from across Long Island through both its high school and summer programs. As the Principal of LIHSA, I am privileged to see this transformation first-hand, year-after-year as many of our region's artistically talented students arrive eager and passionate.
LIHSA students benefit from Long Island's most prestigious and acclaimed arts training. We aim to guide each student to realize their full potential and our teaching faculty collectively bring a wealth of experience from the world's arts, entertainment and cultural industries.

Their expertise across theatre, screen, the latest performance platforms and many other cultural areas provides students with the skills and knowledge to build successful careers, and instills them with the passion and confidence to become the region's next creative leaders.LIHSA teachers are practicing artists, working at a high level within their respective careers, and are skilled masters of their crafts.
The Parent-Teacher relationship is a partnership, with teachers and parents coming together over the profound responsibility of educating and nurturing the healthy development of a child. Maintaining a trusting and healthy relationship requires that parents discuss any classroom concerns with the teacher first.
LIHSA has relationships with hallmark arts organizations and those that augment cultural diversity, to design artistic residencies that would span a semester and/or a year, that culminates in a meaningful product or performance. Over the past two years, we have built resilient partnerships at every scale from local communities to international networks, forging stronger links with our professional, cultural, academic, and industry partners.
LIHSA's campus was designed from the onset to be a facility that caters to preparation for careers in the arts. Our 38,000 square feet of studios and workshops across three buildings are filled with professional workspaces and facilities.

We have four dance studios on campus, a larger theatre that holds 350 audience members with lighting and sound equipment, two smaller black box theatres, a recording studio, numerous classroom spaces, practice rooms, art studios, film editing room, darkroom, digital music space and a carpentry shop for scenic design.
