I lived at the Nook for a short period, but my experience was pleasant. I moved out because the unit was too small for me and my dog, but didn't have any issues during my stay. And if I were to have any issues, Alesia, the property manager is always on top of things. The application process was smooth, as well as the move out process.

Pretty affordable for a new apartment complex. Its pretty good if you want city life on a budget. Your within walking distance too everything, and the target next door has a good amount of groceries there. And you get a flat rate utilities for 100mbps internet and electricity which is pretty nice.
The only cons are it gets really hot in the building especially if your living in the upper units, so getting a portable AC is definitely a must for the summer months. And parking can be challenging on the streets and expensive if you choose parking garage. And you have too share a kitchen, if you like

I was showed a micro studio that was suppose to look like the one I have now but it is totally different . Terrance calls it an ADA unit which is for handicap mobility problems adults. I am not happy with it and I hope I can get my money back or Terrance the manager can locate me another suitable unit. it is sad the unit also was not completely ready the bathroom walls had water damage that was repaired but they left the plaster unfinished it has to be painted. and the toilet tissue holder handle is broke too!
Terrance was rushing me and I was so happy not to be living with relatives. He said

Cons: Super noisy inside and out of the unit. Car alarms from the repair shop next door, construction, neighbors upstairs can hear all movement of furniture, walking, and sounds from people in the bathrooms, also can hear snoring, sneezing, and noise in the hallway, you can hear noise emitting from people's apartments when standing in the hallway. Noise from the streets, conversations can be distinctly heard. Stolen mail at least a couple times since living here for 6 months.
Pros: Nice small space, near downtown spots, near Lake Merritt, nice small studio space for a single person.

I lived at The Nook for about 1.75 years. Overall, my experience was great. Cristian (previous Community Director) and Courtney (current Community Director) are both very nice and responsive. Below is a summary of the Pros and Cons.
PROS
- Great location: located right next to a 24 hour fitness, Lake Merritt, cool bars, and Grand Lake Theatre. Also, there is a Target literally down the street, as well as multiple places for grocery shopping (Whole Foods, Grocery Outlet Bargain Market, Sprouts).
- Inexpensive: Prices for apartments in the Bay Area seem to be increasing exponentially, so this

Overall great place to live. I'm in my first lease year and will likely renew.
Who's this place great for:
1) People that don't have a car or don't want to upkeep one.
2) People that use BART or can walk/bike to work.
3) People that want an easy way to pay for utilities (you just pay $90/month for utilities)
4) People that can deal with very small living spaces (large enough for a large bed but not large enough for a large bed + sofa)
5) People who prefer newer buildings (this place was built in 2016?)
Who's this place not great for:
1) People that can't deal with construction noise. There
